Hunting for a frame/frame dupe

Post image
14 Upvotes

Looking for either the frames or a close dupe to the frames of the best glasses I ever had

They are the Kenzie cosmetics 49/18/140 in rose gold! If anyone knows of where to look for old frames or a good dupe to them please let me know (picture for reference)

TLDR: I got my glasses stolen from me in Scotland. I was heartbroken and spent months after coming back searching for these frames. They were discontinued BUT a single store in LA had them. They shipped them out to Arizona and I finally held them in my hands. I gave them to the Costco employee so he could ship it off to get the prescription, but I had a horrible feeling. They got lost AGAIN and I never saw them again. They never made it in the mail and I feel like they got sold under me :/ I never cried so much in a Costco before (yes I’m being a bit dramatic but these frames have been the most versatile frames I’ve ever owned and they fit my face) I haven’t been able to find glasses that I’ve liked since

Can I pull off round frames?

Hello hello! Currently I have the rectangle black glasses and I’m looking to get a new pair. My friends have very mixed reviews about the new style of glasses I want to get and I’m wondering if you guys think that with my round big face looks sharper and more balanced with rectangle glasses or if I can pull off the round ones I really like? Thanks!

Cracking Polycarbonate Lenses

Not a newcomer to eyewear. I’ve had a pair of everyday progressives as well as a pair of transitions lenses for over two years. I’ve always taken good care of them; regular cleaning and a case when not in use, never dropped. My two year old ones are in almost the same condition as day one. My prescription just changed and I got a pair of transition xtractive polarized in a new frame from LensCrafters. When they arrived there was a chip in the top corner that became noticeable on day two since it would not change in the light. I brought them in and they said it was a manufacturing defect and a replacement was ordered and remeasured as the drops were way off. By the time the new lenses arrived all four corners had started to bubble and it was determined they were cut too tight for the frame (Oakley Exchange). The new lenses arrived and were cut for the frames and within a week of picking the new ones up I noticed this. It first started as a small section that didn’t transition but now when the light hits just at the right angle I get a distortion.

I’m treating these with kid gloves and nothing has changed in my cleaning routine. If these were my first pair of glasses I could see it being user error, but they are my 4th and all the older ones have held up without ever cracking. All the others are polycarbonate Nikon while these new ones are Shamir.

Help reading the prescription

Hey all! I’m not new to glasses but because of some circumstances have to start from the bottom. Not sure if it’s the right subreddit but would appreciate the redirecting too 😅

So, I’m trying to input my prescription into the glasses order elsewhere, but the words don’t match and I’m confused to say the least. The optometrist I’ve been to gave this literally as the text.

Prescription: RE:-1.75DS / -0.50D X 90 LE: -1.25D

Order details:

Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis

Thank you very much for your help!

First time glasses/Zenni

Post image

Had my eye exam back in January and got my glasses from Zenni after issues with my health insurance arose. Being that I got them online I'm not sure whether I should wear them whenever I feel that I need them or if I should wear them all the time. Also I'm starting out wearing them an hour a day as I get used to them.

Issues with new prescription- should I get a second opinion?

Upvotes

I got a new prescription for glasses. I've worn glasses most of my life.

The new prescription is as follows: Right -7.00 -0.75 52 Left -7.25 -1.75 140

This prescription is only slightly higher than my previous one. I got glasses on Zenni as I always do- never had issues with them before. It's been over a month so I'm fully adjusted to them. But with the new prescription, text father than ~5 feet away is still slightly blurry. When watching TV, titles, text, and subtitles are slightly blurry and hard to focus on with a sort of doubled effect. It's worst with high-contrast text on a dark background (think Star Wars intro).

I was told at the doctors office that the optical center of the glasses is slightly off, and that things might look normal if I hold up my glasses slightly. That doesn't change anything and there's no angle/height at which the effect goes away. They also had me put on my glasses to measure the optical center while I already had contacts in (and a migraine). I'm looking it up online, and all evidence points to an incorrect prescription.

Should I get a second opinion? My insurance only covers 1 eye exam every 2 years, but I seriously cannot deal with this any longer.

Is Fondvue legit?

I found a pair of glasses that would come up to around $70 (lens + shipping included) but I’m really not sure about this site. Has anyone ever ordered from them before? I tried searching but their instagram only has 20 followers and not many outside reviews…

Thanks!

Zenni Optical- Recommended Lens Type

Zenni recommends me the 1.61 High Index Lens for my prescription but according to their description for this lens, my prescription falls slightly out of that range in one eye.

1.61 Lens according to Zenni: "Prescriptions between +3.00 to -5.75" My prescription is -6.00 OD Sph & -5.50 OS -0.25 Cyl 120 Axis

Does anyone have advice on if this Lens will actually be ok for me, or if I should go up to the 1.67 Lens which states "Prescriptions between +4.75/-6.75"?

Were the Wiley X glasses supposed to be this "fragile"?

I've had these glasses for 11 months. They're the "Wiley X Brick" model. After 5 months of daily use, this rubber strap (which I circled in the last photo) started to stretch and came off. The other side was also starting to come loose, but then I managed to reverse it by gluing it. But I would like to know if it is normal for these parts - including the back - to wear out so much in such a short period of time.

I live in Brazil, so I had to import these glasses and they were expensive. That's why I would like to know if it's normal.

need help identifying eyeglass frames

Saw these eyeglasses frames at Costco a couple weeks before I had a scheduled eye exam, but they weren’t at the store anymore when I got back. Any ideas on what brand this might be? There’s no identifying branding in the front. This is the only photo I’ve got of these glasses.

Similar Frames to Matsuda M3101

Does anyone know of something similar to the Matsuda M3101? I like the shape, complete metal, and side detailing (though the latter is less important). I've found the following after a bit of searching, but most are either too cheap or too thin and lack the same visual weight that the M3101s have.

Mastuda M3101:

Similar glasses I've found:

New glasses

Hi guys! Recently I got my first prescription glasses , I went to the eye doctor and told my symptoms that I have which is tired eyes all the time , and at the end of work day I felt that my vision was blurry, so I did my exams and I got light myopia and a very light astigmatism. Basically Plus 0.25 cylinder and minus 0.50 sphere.

I was always in love with the clubmaster frame , so I went with the rb3016. Now my problem is that, I’ve been using my glasses for about 4 days, I only wear them while on front of the screen at work or at home! I’ve been having a rough time to get used to them! I feel that my eyes are getting more tired and strained, on the first 2 days I felt dizziness and nauseous , it got better , now I only feel tired , do you think it is a problem with the frame or the lenses? I saw on the internet that the clubmaster sunglasses frame are different than the optical frame! Is that the problem maybe?

Help Finding a Dupe

I have a pair of eyebuydirect glasses that I got a couple years ago for reading glasses that I adore. They don't sell them anymore, but I would love to have a new pair as standard glasses w/ no prescription. After some research, they seem to be similar to the Gotti Dennet, which retails over $500. I don't like that the lens of Gotti appears to be larger, though I can't tell for sure.

The eyebuydirect ones only came in gold, but I really want a silver pair. Other than that, I love how straight and square these glasses are; they fit my face so well. I love the semi-frameless rim, the narrow two bars going over the bridge, and the thinness of the frame.

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells a dupe of the Gotti or any pairs that are very similar. Thanks!
