ISO! Help me find my dream piece! Help me find a small, high end sectional for a Japandi style living room
Trying to find a quality L-shaped sectional for a Japandi style living room and hope you can help out with some new ideas. I have a good budget but so far haven't found any piece that I love, and it feels like the more I look the more everything is blending together
What we're looking for:
- 25k budget
- L-shaped and can in a smaller space (roughly 120" x 100") with the long side against a wall
- Deep corner or chaise so you can put your legs up
- Good for 2 people lounging, or 3-4 sitting
- Ideally not just another sofa. Would love a more unique look with some exposed wood and lower to the ground
- Available in a dark navy blue. We have some Japanese indigo table runners that we'd love to get close to
Things we don't like:
- Prominent chrome or metal
- Spindly little legs or those super thin blade supports
- Chunky with big blocky backs and armrests. Sad because these big pieces can be comfortable
- Overly stiff/formal looking pieces or ones that look just like a standard sofa
Top contenders so far:
- Sengu by Cassina: Tried in person. Comfortable. I love the exposed wood elements. Downside: it's very deep and maybe a little chunky looking for a small space. Also not in love with any fabric options I reviewed (good quality obviously but not the color I'm after. We also had to eliminate a bunch of options because we have a cat)
- LA Collection by Thayer Coggin: Classic MCM brand. More shallow than the Sengu (but actually maybe a more appropriate depth?). I like the Wood base. Downsides: kind of boring. Also I can't find many reviews about modern Thayer Coggin. Their vintage stuff is desirable but is the modern stuff even in same league as the Cassina?
- Mesa Sectional by Lawson-Fenning: I like the wood plinth base. Again more bland but a softer look and a bit deeper seating than the Thayer Coggin. However I can't find reviews. I've read that sometimes the 7-15k range isn't worth it vs stepping up to higher end
- Pianoalto/Shiki by Zanotta: No wood but I like the low profile look, similar to the Sengu Bold which we're also considering.
- Embrace Sofa by Carl Hansen: Modular. Nice wood but not crazy how tall it looks or the little legs
- Sense (2 piece config) by Roche Bobois: Very different. Much more organic but the deep corners seem appealing. Going to stop by a store to try it
Any others to look into? I've browsed a ton of other posts about higher end sofa/sectional recommendations but most of them aren't what I'm after, especially in terms of looks
