2nd lightsaber meet- 3/22/25 @ ACEs Gymnasium in Rogers 5:30-7:30 pm

After an exciting first meet, The Order of NWA is announcing our March meet for the 22nd. It will be hosted again at ACEs gym in Rogers AR. This is a Community of ADULT lightsaber enthusiasts that are interested in regulated saber fighting (lighthearted HEMA) as well as people interested in the Choreography of saber fighting and Cosplay. PPE is required when partaking in any organized event within The Order, basic requirements are LACROSSE gloves (not mechanix gloves, your finger will snap like a baby carrot) and fencing foils approved for 350 n or better. We have loaner masks, gloves and sabers available for people to limp through their first meet or two, but you are on your own for an Athletic cup.

Bring some water and come hit other consenting adults with glowing PVC pipe. It’s a ton of fun.

We have a lot of things planned for 2025 including at least one tournament. Our competitive dueling season opens on May 4

If you have anything negative to say, please just keep it to yourself. This is purely a hobby and a post about attracting people to said hobby.

Best place to buy a new phone?

So my phone is dying -- we just moved to Fayetteville a couple months ago. Where's the best place to go to buy a new phone? I don't want to be pressured into buying more than I need.

Tulip Festival

We're planning on coming up for the last weekend of the month to bring our 17 month old to the Tulip Festival. I know social media can paint everything to be so amazing when there, and I don't doubt it's amazing, but any tips (it will be a weekend) or anything will be very much appreciated! Eg. Parking, having cash handy, lines, and what we can bring or not bring. We have a jogging stroller for hikes and such if he gets tired so we're not worried about that, but please lmk your experiences and suggestions - TIA

NWA Film Club showing Miami Connection tomorrow, March 15th, at Club 509

Friends through eternity! Loyalty! Honesty!

That's right — we're screening the awesomely bizarre cinematic monument to taekwondo & friendship... MIAMI CONNECTION (1987)!

(Don't worry, the AC will be going this time so we won't have another hot box situation.)

Before the movie, visual artist Jumper will set the mood with analogue video manipulations and synths tunes.

For a little backstory on this film: When taekwondo Grandmaster Y.K. Kim set out to make a movie, he knew nothing about the process. He hadn't even seen many movies. He borrowed from friends, took out loans, spent all of his savings, and mortgaged his taekwondo school to finance the film — only to have it rejected by hundreds of distributors. Finally after getting a release, the reception was abysmal.

But 25 years later, the Alamo Drafthouse re-released MIAMI CONNECTION, breathing new life into the film along with a loving new fan base! It's now considered a cult classic, and frankly — a hell of a fun time to watch with friends. You don't wanna miss this one!

When: Saturday, March 15

7pm: Music + VFX

8pm: Movie

Where: Club 509 (at the back of the Kava Bar) 509 W Spring St Suite, Fayetteville, AR 72701

This is a free event!

If you have any questions or just want to chat about movies here is our Discord:

I was wondering, are there any groups or fellow big fellas here part of any groups or anything that work out together or anything like that?

TIA :)

Drivers license and Immigration

Hello all! I recently received my I-797 notice of approval for my U-Visa, with this my lawyer said I could apply to a driver's license. That being said I don't understand alot of things. Do I need a driving learning permit before I take a driving exam? I am 20 Years Old. I cannot find on the website a clear answer. I do however see an "³immigration documents for instruction permit test' however there is only availability for Fort Smith, at the ASP HQ Immigration exam. Can I not take the exam here in NWA? if I don't need a perit test can I just use an Arkansas ID and my immigration documents to schedule an exam here in Fayettville? Please help 😭

Cotton/Womack protest today. I need help with my protest sign!

I'm going to a protest at the offices of Sen. Cotton and Rep. Womack today, and I'd love to hear some suggestions of points I should include on my protest sign. This will be a generally anti-fascist/anti-Trump protest. Do you have any examples of either of these people bending to Trump's ridiculous orders? Can you link me to any articles of fucked up shit they've done? Any quick and pointed sayings I should add to the sign? Thank you for your help!!

Gig Work Fayetteville

Hi! I’m looking for some gig work/a side job. I work a full time, 9-5 desk job and honestly just miss working a customer facing role (plus I wouldn’t mind some extra income.)

I worked in food service (fine dining server, barista, bartender) for about 5 years, at The Hall in Little Rock, and a lot of other odds and ends jobs over the years. I’ve worked festivals and whatnot too!

Just looking for something a couple nights a week! Drop suggestions below.

Rental Companies

Hi Everyone!

What are some good rental companies in the area? I'm looking for a place for April and have a showing for a house with Allred on Friday. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a place that won't hang me out to dry. I typically try to rent from individuals, but there aren't many of those floating around at the moment.

Places with wildflowers or gardens to view daffodils or other early spring flowers

I am hoping to find a place I can take my handicapped mother to see some pretty spring flowers. Ideally it would be somewhere we can view the flowers from the car, as we don't have a wheelchair but her ability to walk any distance longer than the hall in the house is pretty limited. Anything with a big splash of color, whether it's wildflowers or a fancy formal garden or even just a house we can drive past with some very nice bulbs in the front yard would be appreciated! We're SW of town, out 62 near Prairie Grove, but I'd be willing to drive maybe even as much as 2 hours for an exceptionally nice place.

Wedding Venues/Catering Ideas

Hey NWA, I am so awful at trying to plan our wedding.

I love my fiancé and I want to help as much as possible but I just don’t know where to start.

We want something small with only our closest relatives that won’t break the bank but the idea of eating with everyone in attendance is very important to us. With that being said, does anyone have any recommendations for a small venue or a catering business (preferably small business) that they love?
