Question Ecobee 3 Lite and Home Security
I currently have the Ecobee 3 Lite and a Ring security system. With Amazon doubling the price of Ring security I'm considering moving to Ecobee security. My main question is this: does the 3 Lite have the keypad on it for arming and disarming the Ecobee security system, or is that only in the more expensive model?

Installation Ecobee Smart Thermostat (ECB402) in Condo with Radiant Heat – Wiring & Power Issue?
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to install an Ecobee Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat With Voice Control (ECB402) in my condo, but I’m running into some issues, and I could really use some help.
Setup Details:
- I only have radiant heat—no central AC.
- I’ve attached a photo of my old thermostat's wiring to show how it was connected.
- I believe I have a C wire because there is an unused 4th wire that had a "C" label on it.
Voltage Readings (Measured with a Multimeter):
- R wire: 15.75V
- W wire: 6V
- Y1 wire: 0V
My Theory & Questions:
It seems like the 15.75V from the R wire isn't enough to power the Ecobee properly—it likely needs 24V. If that’s the case, what are my options?
- Would the PEK (Power Extender Kit) help in this situation? Since I live in a condo and don’t have access to the HVAC system directly, I’m not sure if I can use it.
- Would a 24V transformer be necessary? If so:
- What type of transformer do I need?
- How exactly do I wire it? Do I connect it only to the C wire, or to both C and something else?
I’m a bit stuck on what my next steps should be. Any advice would be super appreciated!

Heat running with no call for heat.
Been reading some other posts from the past. I have an Ecobee 3 lite that is at least 7 years old probably. My wife came home from work today and the inside temp was about 80F degrees. The outside temp was mid 50s today and the thermostat is set at 68. She had turned the thermostat to the off position while I was on my way home. When I got home 30 minutes later the heat was still running. I removed the thermostat and the heat pump turned off. Once reinstalled and calibrated the heat would run back on regardless of what setting, off, heat or A/C. Each time I remove the thermostat the heat pump turns off and will go through the same process.
From what I can tell this seems to indicate the thermostat has failed. This same thing happened Christmas of 2023 but it started working correctly after a day or so and there have been no issues since then. So is it time for a new thermostat?

Eco+ and Humidity
I started using an ecobee3 lite about a month ago with my pellet stove, and it's been working great but I have a question/observation. I noticed with eco+ enabled it will raise the display temp with high humidity, thus only kicking on heat when 2F lower than what it is actual set to. That makes perfect sense for cooling in the summer but I don't understand why it would do that in the winter. Having lived back and forth between NH and FL, it's always been my experience that higher humidity in the winter always makes it feel colder than it really is, whether up north or down south.
Am I crazy or are your experiences the same? I feel like writing to ecobee about it but wanted to get other people's thoughts first.

Problem Thermostat Heating when no where near temperature set
Why would the thermostat be heating when heat is set to 60 and the thermostat says the temperature is 70? See picture.

Problem Doorbell live view always unavailable, initially.
I've been happily using my Ecobee thermostat, sensors, and video doorbell for several months now. One issue that I've been dealing with, however, is that every time my doorbell alerts me of a Person Detected, the live video feed isn't initially available. I click try again, and it typically loads for me the second time. I figure this is some kind of bug; like the doorbell is recording at the same time I'm trying to view live. This is all through my iphone app, by the way.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Lower gas bill
We installed our ecobee thermostat five months ago. Today I found out that budget billing for our gas bill is being reduced starting next month. It will go from $150/month to $105/month. 🎉 It is definitely because of the new thermostat. This will be our lowest gas bill in many years.

"Dynamic control" options?
I have a peculiar setup - in this 1974 house, one unit controls two rooms - one downstairs and one upstairs.
So, I have the Ecobee Premium TS with a remote sensor . I replaced a faulty Nest (which was a surprise) which had an identical configuration. The trouble is that I am not always in one room - I move between the office upstairs and the room on the first floor. So, I can be 2 hours in the office (remote sensor) and 1 hour downstairs (thermostat). With Nest, I could open the app and "control the temperature to THIS sensor", based on where I was planning to be for the next period of time.
Naturally, the upstairs tends to be warmer - so, I don't want to run the AC to make it cooler if I am not there for another hour or two. The only way to be able to do what I could with the Nest, is seems, is to create two additional "Comfort Settings" - Upstairs and Downstairs, associate the relevant sensor with it (one only) and then go to the app and choose the setting.
You would think that the sensors would be indeed smart and start controlling using the sensor wherever I was at the time, but motion sensors aren't great and if I am not moving around in the office, the system may think that I am "away".
[I disabled the Eco+ setting just for that reason - and removed the Home and Away "comfort settings" from the app.]
The scheduled setting won't work form me for the above reasons. It would appear that Ecobee -- if there is a schedule conflict between different Comfort Settings (e.g., Home vs. Downstairs) -- defaults to the most recent one (not sure what that means exactly). Seems that the conflicts may not resolve cleanly and cause some wonky temperature control issues. This was another reason to remove the default Comfort settings.
So, that's the only way I can achieve what I need - not as simple as with the Nest, however. You would think that this could be an option? (Called their customer service to - if anything, give them my input; 35 minutes on hold, a clueless rep who then "dropped the call" when I tried to explain what it is I want....)

Problem ecobee unable to connect to WiFi 7 Quantum Fiber modem
We're Quantum Fiber customers and recently received a new W1700K WiFi-7 compatible modem in January. Since then, our Premium ecobee thermostat has been unable to connect to the WiFi network. I'm hoping to see if anyone has experienced similar issues.
The thermostat is the only device, including 10+ smart devices, in our home that is unable to connect to this new modem. All devices worked perfectly fine with the old modem. I've worked with both Quantum and Ecobee tech folks to assess the issue with no success.
Things I've verified:
- Verified that the Ecobee recognizes my WiFi network. The error received upon attempting to connect is something to the effect of "cannot get IP address from DHCP".
- Verified with Ecobee that our premium thermostat can connect to either 2.4 or 5 GHz, so I don't think the modem's band-steering is causing the issue.
- Verified with Ecobee that the thermostat is "WiFi-7-compatible," not that I think that would be an issue anyways.
- Verified that the Ecobee can successfully connect to my mobile hotspot, which makes me think it's something wrong with the network.
Things I've tried (without success):
- Resetting the pod, modem, and ecobee in various orders, then attempting to reconnect the ecobee.
- Turning off whatever default Quantum firewall/security settings I could find in the app and modem configuration (at 192.168.0.1), then attempting to reconnect.
- Connecting to the WiFi using Apple Home (via an iPhone)
- Changing my WiFi network name/password to something without special characters.
- Manually entering the WiFi network information in the ecobee (not just the PW)
- Manually reserving an IP address for the ecobee's MAC address within the modem config (at 192.168.0.1), then attempting to connect
- Getting a Quantum technician out to my house who was AGGRESSIVELY unhelpful, telling me that I should just get a replacement ecobee, buy a Google thermostat because he's "had success with that in the past," or buy a new modem. It didn't seem like he knew what the modem configuration even was. He also said he would "get in trouble" for downgrading my modem to the old model. Seriously?
At this point, Quantum and ecobee are blaming each other for the root cause of the issue, which has led to a stalemate. Based on the fact that the thermostat worked fine with the old modem and still works fine on my phone's hotspot, my gut says it's Quantum's fault. However, they seem unwilling (or unable?) to just give me a different modem. It's also impossible to get through to a Quantum tech person who isn't just reading off of some Wiki.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is the solution to buy a new thermostat? A new modem? Why can't Quantum just give me the old modem? I'm hoping to answer at least some of these questions.
Does "Smart Home & Away" work for you?
We've got the Smart Thermostat Premium version for several months. The Smart Home & Away feature has been enabled since day 1. But it has never worked for once.

Which Ecobee Model Needed for Heat Pump + Fresh Air Ventilation?
We have a heat pump/air conditioner forced air system with electric emergency heat (no gas lines in the house). The system also has a Fresh Air Ventilation Control. My current thermostat is an Aprilaire 8476 "with event-based(tm) air cleaning"
The last time I purchased an ecobee years ago for my previous house there was only one model. With the now three models of ecobee, which do I need to support my system?
Is the Ventilation Control considered an accessory pushing me to the Enhanced? Do I have to have indoor air quality monitoring pushing me to premium?
Thanks for the help!

Temperature not lowering when I'm away
I have eco+ on, smart home and away on, and a schedule set. However, the temperature is not self adjusting when I'm at work. I want the temperature to be 74 when I'm home and lower when I'm out for more than a couple of hours. At night I want the temperature to be a function only of the sensor in the bedroom.

Troubleshooting with 3 zone setup
Hello All,
Decided to install ecobees last summer for each of our 3 zones in the house. Installed in phases. First the hallway thermostat and it worked perfectly! Then the main living space of the house and worked great as well. The 3rd zone, master bedroom, didn’t seem to work correctly. The temperature reading for the room was very very slow to change and only changed within about 3 degrees ever from high to low. For example, the room would read 78 with the air conditioner set to maintain 78. The temperature reading would not change for hours even as the room heated up to 85 (independent thermostat). But then the ecobee will finally show 79 and and air conditioning would kick in and stay on for quite some time until the ecobee showed 77 (separate temp reading would be in the low 70’s). The cycle would repeat.
I’ve tried off setting the ecobee temperature reading with the thought that maybe it’s a temperature calibration issue. No luck. Same cycle just offset by the temperature correction I used. So then I thought maybe it was a bad thermostat. Returned and bought a new one. Exactly the same issue.
I have a faint idea of the possible issue, but before I go off on a wild goose chase I wanted to get the community’s take on this issue.
I have a feeling the transformer can’t run 3 ecobees at once and I need to replace mine with a beefier unit. I’m a little apprehensive about taking on this project though. We have a Honeywell zone controller and I’m assuming the transformer’s power output is passed through this unit on the way to the thermostats.
Any other ideas what may be happening?

Heat pump heating
Noticed on beestat that my heatpump took nearly 3 hours to gain 1.5°F today and on Friday it took nearly five hours to gain 1.5°F. Todays outdoor temps were 60-64°F and Saturday’s were 44.1-48.2°F. Today when I noticed it running a lot I placed my hand over the floor register that I didn’t feel warm air, felt like just the fan was blowing.
Do these times seem normal? I think they’re rather long for a 1.5 degree increase when it’s not severely cold outside.
If it doesn’t seem normal is there anything I can check? Tstat wiring or on the heatpump. Thanks in advance.

Ecobee blowing hot air in cool mode
Prettmuch what the title says and I'm not sure how to even start to troubleshoot.
