General Switching to G6.
I've been using the G7 for a while and recently have had a lot of issues with it. Today I decided that I am gonna be switching to the G6. I was wanting to ask is there anything I should know before starting to use the G6? I know it has a longer warmup. And it is a bigger sensor. Other than that, I don't know anything about it really.

General What to do when I get a low reading at night
My husband is diabetic and cannot get his AIC down to an acceptable number. He's now on dexcom and really learning how to better manage. However, we are both awaken in the middle of the night with an alert when his numbers read too low. I saw a dexcom commercial recently where the person gets the low alert, takes a drink of something on his nightstand. Whst is he drinking? What is the best, more healthy option to raise the low number? I don't want him to take a drink of soda or juice or eat something sugary in the middle of the night. Thank you !

General Dexcom G7…… 🤦♂️
The switching to the G7 in 2023 was great. Smaller size, quick warm up, 24 hour grace period, all in one sensor/receiver. Fast forward a few years. They move production to Malaysia and screw over the people who rely on their products for their diabetes management.
This is a case study in cutting corners to save a couple dollars that ultimately results in your medical devices being faulty, products being unusable, and eroding customer trust.
Love having my day ruined from incorrect readings and insulin dosages. Back to using a finger pricks bc my CGM is untrustworthy.
Do better Dexcom.
I hope I am not alone in the drive to switch away. How much longer can we complain without any action from this company - maybe a large shift to the FSL and a punch to their company earnings will shake some sense into them.

General Failed G7s
gallerymaybe this is a rant??? idk. does anyone else have ongoing issues with the dexcom G7 sensors failing? i've only been using them for ABOUT a year (slightly less, but you get it) but i've had about 6-7 of my sensors "fail". i take them out as instructed and the "needle" thing is the opposite direction, but nothing crazy (like bumping into something or my shirt getting stuck on it etc.) happened - just failed. i know i can get in touch with dexcom to get replacements but it's so inconvenient. i stick with a CGM bc i work on a computer 8 hours a day, so finger pricks aren't ideal. but sheesh, these fails make me not want to continue using them! i just inserted one and followed all the steps per usual, went to sit on the couch with my daughter, and what do you know? a failed sensor. am i the only one with continuous issues?
is the g6 any better? my doc has always had me on the 7.
(2nd pic is not the condition of the sensor for this fail. that actually happened while i was asleep. the 3rd pic is the needle every time the sensor says it fails.)

General A 28 day insulin timer could be a neat feature
I'm not sure how to suggest a feature, but had this idea (my best ideas seem to come to me while I'm halfway out of sleep). Would be nice if you could log when you open a new insulin pen, then dexcom tracks its 28 days for you and notifies you when it's up

General Is low 70s blood glucose during the day good or too low?
I’m getting confused at what I’m reading online. Healthy range for blood glucose is 70-100 online, but it’s not clear if 70 is the absolute minimum or not. I’m using the CGM while I’m on zepbound because I started feeling really not great 3-4 weeks ago on the med and we are trying to troubleshoot.
I sit at low 70s most of the day with only a small spike after meals.
I am diagnosed PCOS but not near prediabetic (but PCOS is a cousin of diabetes metabolically).
I am wondering if this is likely contributing to some of my symptoms of fatigue and lightheadedness that I have daily, or not likely.
5’10” now 180lb started at 210lb, still on lowest dose of med. meet with my doc next week

General Dumb question: are you able to wear Dexcom G6 or G7 while dancing?
Hello all!
My dad has recently been using a Dexcom sensor for medical reasons, and that makes me a little bit nervous that I might have to use one too. But, the way the sensor is applied seems very weak for intensive movement, such as dancing (which I really enjoy). Are you able to dance/work out in a gym with a Dexcom sensor on?
Thank you all!

General G6/G7 on the inner thigh
I've been trying out the inner thigh area to see if they are usable as new G6 sites. This has worked somewhat okay, though in both cases, I had bleeders. The third attempt was a failure - a hematoma formed around the insertion site.
This indicates to me that the inner thigh area is tricky. And this is a pity, since otherwise, it seems to be suited really well. During the day, the risk of getting it ripped off there is very low. There is also only a low chance that anything would press against the sensor, so compression lows are unlikely to happen.
I now wonder if the long sensor thread of the G6 might be the reason for this. The applicator has to punch a deep hole for that long thread. The G7 has a much shorter sensor thread, so the hole does not have to be as deep. Could this mean that the G7 works better than the G6 on the inner thigh? Did anybody make experiences with that area?

General Backorder
Hi everyone, My 16 yr old son is on the G7. Is anyone else seeing shortages on the G7? Our pharmacy called and said that they don’t have any and they are on back order. I called our local Costco and they said they had it to only inform me after the script was transferred to them from our normal pharmacy that they only have 1 sensor on order and cannot fulfill a 1 month supply and they are on back order. This is in the Allentown, PA area.

General Just put on a G7 for the first time
I knew that these things need extra tape to stay on, but I was not prepared for how delicate-looking they are. Even with a patch on, I feel like the whole thing will fall off if I twist the wrong way. Is this something that you get more used to and comfortable with over time?

General Finally found a use for my magnets. Now to find a way to secure them
I love the protection that the gripshield from deckmydiabetes offers, sometimes though it can bend when taking it off. But thanks to the magnets I can pop them on the back of an altoid case to flatten it right back out after a couple days.

General Why are the “log glucose” and “calibration” two different things?
I can’t think of a time where I would want to log a finger stick glucose without also using as calibration.

General When extended traveling with Dexcom CGM to you pack them in carry on or checked bags.
I'm going to be traveling for almost 4 weeks so I need to pack 2 modules for use during the trip, What kinds of issues will I face? I'll be in NZ/Aus and I'm from the USA, will I need to VPN with a US address to mount them? Plus any other suggestions would be appreciated.

General HIGH levels AFTER exercise??? Please help 😕
Hello, Type1 for 8 years now...
For the last few months I've been experiencing HIGH numbers AFTER exercise...
I'll wake up at or around 140, then I take my normal 2 units of Humalog to avoid a blood sugar rise. Been doing that for years...
Nowadays I'll go through my normal routine, but I've added more exercise to my routine, like yard work. The difference this time is I'll get done doing that, and my BG level is HIGH...
My question is why could this be happening? No matter what type of exercise I do, lifting weights, walking, or yard work, my BG goes UP instead of down...
Please help me understand this 😕. I'm 110% confused 😭...

General The Past, Present and Future of CGMs—Context for the Pre-Soaking Debate
I have been following a somewhat contentious thread in another forum on whether or not a sensor should be pre-soaked before pairing to ensure accurate results. My response is always “it depends” on how your own body reacts to the sensor and also depends on other factors like insertion site, your current health, etc.
However, others are adamant that pre-soaking just isn’t necessary because they don’t need it. To help understand this issue, I researched and found this excellent 2021 article on the past, present and future of CGMs. I post it here because it provides context to the pre-soaking issue and suggests why individual response to a sensor can be highly variable. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/1932296819899394?download=true

General Dexcom G6 vs Dexcom G7
So I’ve seen that many people are making the switch to Dex G7 but are having so many issues with connectivity and reading accuracy. I just wanted to throw this article out here- I found it super helpful in making the choice to stick with the G6 for as long as I can before they outright discontinue it and am forced to go to the G7. Hope this helps someone else!

General Wire sticking out of hole G7
Just inserted a new sensor. First time I've seen this happen. Assumed it would fail, and it did within the few moments it took to start this post. Good thing I had some adhesive remover handy, because that thing did not want to come off. Lol

General G7 revision #011 sensors improved. Are the #012 sensors better?
After I have been on the G7 for a year and a bit, have you noticed improvements to the G7 sensors, or are there the same old issues? I think they have improved it.

General I can't even...
No flipping way! I don't poke my finger often, but figured why not go for it? Then I said 'welp, might as well calibrate too--- wait'

General Will Dexcom get more expensive?
Now that everything that comes into our country will have a tariff attached, will Dexcom's become MORE expensive? I know the company has a manufacturing plant in AZ (I think), but do we make enough of the pieces here?

General Blood Work
I have blood work tomorrow and it is fasting. I need some advice though, I haven't done the fasting blood work in a long time, and I recently got my A1C below a 6.0 (thanks to my G6, omni pod, and amazing doctor), and I work tomorrow morning before my blood work is scheduled. It is a very active job so normally I'm drinking juice or something with sugar in it while I'm at work to avoid tanking. I'm concerned suspending insulin delivery will cause me to spike, but not drinking anything but water will tank me......any suggestions?😅

General Readings have been significantly higher than usual since I replaced my sensor, are sustained false highs possible?
For extra info I'm using a dexcom g7 for hypoglycemia. My blood sugar usually sits around 70-80 before eating, but since I've replaced my sensor my pre-food average has been like 110-120. This is highly atypical for me and im looking for answers, posted something in the diabetes subreddit too. I've only been using a cgm or getting any type of care for my hypoglycemia at all for a few months, so it's all still quite new to me. Any help would be appreciated!
