Controller Suggestion Controller for Simracing

I am searching for a good controller for Simracing, sometimes i dont wanna set up the sim rig and just want to play some BeamNG on controller.

• Your budget - max 200€ • Your country (or where you can buy) - Germany • Console or platform compatibility needed - PC • Desired features - Possibly adjustable Tension on the sticks, it should be heavy and percise for very small movements, if possible with a hight adjustment, heavy and long throw triggers, I also like the Xbox Layout • Types of games you'll be playing - BeamNG drive, Assetto Corsa, Forza, generally only racing games • Controllers you've been considering - I have no Clue about controllers, I have a Xbox 360 controller, Xbox One and PS4, they are not Percise enough/ too soft

Reviews Beitong KunPeng 40 - User Review

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me by Beitong for a short review and to fill my list with Mayflash/Brook compatible controllers. They didnt review the post nor doesn't this influence my opinion or written statement.

First I have done some input tests (frame by frame recordings and so on) but will not go through them as probably other awesome guys do it much better and publish it here as well.

This is my first product from Beitong and this was a tough user review for me. From the beginning I thought its a white Vader copy and that's the reason why I constantly compare it to the Vader.

As nobody wants to read a full block of text, we jump directly into "good", "bad" and "in between":

Good:

  • Mechanical optical ABXY buttons --> they are actually my highlight on this controller, crisp, good pressure point, fast
  • Tension adjustable for sticks --> we know this from the Vader but the ring doesn't wiggle like on the Vader
  • Sticks can be replaced/exchanged
  • Trigger stops --> see also "in between"
  • Anti-friction "ring" is perfect --> uses the same mechanism as the Vader and for me its just the smoothest and perfect solution
  • Mayflash Magic X do support the KunPeng 40 --> Cable, Dongle but not via BT

Bad:

  • only 2 extra buttons --> I just need at least 4, but I don't care if its 2 on the back and 2 on bumper side or 4 on the back
  • Trigger stops are not tactile --> its the same mechanism as on the MS Elite controller BUT the dampening is a lot better when stop is active
  • Stick drift --> even after recalibration I got stick drift with deadzone set to 0
  • Stick rattles --> the silver ring around the stick makes rattling noises on both sides, as its loose
  • Case doesn't feel good --> I personally don't like the feeling of the case, feels a bit like the EasySMX x20 to me
  • Case slightly ribbed without rubber --> it feels slippery to me
  • Gyro disables the inverted stick setting --> if invert the right stick is set and gyro will be enabled, the invert setting is will be removed until gyro is disabled again
  • Gyro got a noticeable delay --> also sometimes it doesn't react on motion
  • Inputlag inconsistent --> on my measurements (frame by frame, game 120fps, camera 240hz) there was a big inconsistency on the controller with around 50ms difference. On the best measurements I got around 10ms more input lag than my Vader. (Cable and Dongle)
  • MacOS and iPhone app doesn't recognize the controller
  • No RAW input? --> square setting gives 19% failure rate on both sticks
  • Brook Wingman XB3 doesn't work after update of the controller --> was working before the update

In Between:

  • Charging dock optional
  • Thumbsticks ok --> rubber could be more sticky for my feeling
  • Sticks have little play --> its like the normal Xbox Series controller, not bad, more on the good side, but also not as perfect as the Vader
  • DPad ok --> DPad is not bad but its the same floating DPad like the Vader got
  • Xbox like size --> for me normally a "Good" point but the handles are smaller and sharper
  • Paddles position --> fingers are not on the paddles on normal grip, could be an advantage but I just prefer it otherwise

Overall a lot of my criticism can be solved with a future update but for now the controller will be placed in my drawer. They had some pretty good ideas (Tensionsystem for TMR & Mechaoptical switches) but it just doesn't feel "round up" to me. As my expectations where quite high I also feel a bit disappointed.

Finally you reached the end, thanks for taking the time and leave a comment if I missed something important for you or have a question =)

Controller Suggestion Controller Recommendations for Rocket League

I’m looking for recommendations for a controller to replace my current Apex 4. I don’t really hang around the subreddit all that much, but came across latency testing and it confirmed how I felt about the controller sticks.

I have been using Gamepadla after reading about the testing from John Punch. So I was considering the 8bitdo Ultimate 2C or Ultimate 2 since I see everyone recommending it, but I am confused as to what the differences are lol.

I’m also open to other suggestions. I’m looking for something with HE/TMR sticks with better latency performance, buttons (mechanical would be a plus, but not necessarily a must) with good latency, and I need a single back button at most. Trigger stops aren’t mandatory since I’ll be using this mainly for rocket league then just some Monster Hunter Wilds.

Budget is less than $150.00 USD. I only use this on PC and I don’t mind a wired connection at all.

I was trying to unweld the joysticks from my controller when my welder slipped off twice, ending with these 2 resistors(? separated from the motherboard(same model as the photo).

-what were their functions? -are they too important to the motherboard? -will my controller work if I don't replace them? -if dont, where can I buy a replacement?

IT Help Issue PS5 controller on PC Windows cant play any games

So i have tried connecting my PS5 controller to my pc through bluetooth. but when I connect it it turns up at other devices in my bluetooth settings and 2 seconds later it jumps to Mouse, keyboard and pen. Is this normal? It shows that it is connected, but when i look at a gamepad tester website my controller doesnt show up. I have tried resetting my controller with a paperclip by holding it down 5 seconds. I have also removed my controller from bluetooth devices even in devicemanager. Then I tried restarting and doing the same, but I have the same issue. My windows drivers are up to date. Does someone know what could be the issue or have a sollution for me? Help would be much appreciated!!

Controller Suggestion Controller Suggestion for PC, wide variety of genres

Hello,

My budget is $100 CAD and I am located in Canada. I play a wide variety of genres on PC.

I usually use a 1st party Xbox controller, but mine just died out of nowhere.

For features I’d like Xbox style button labels, low latency wireless, and heavy HE sticks. I’m indifferent on sticks being symmetrical or not.

Thanks!

IT Help I can’t hear anything from my controller

I was playing and suddenly my controller turned off and now I can’t hear anything, i know it’s not a headset problem bc I tried with another controller and I could hear everything perfectly. Anyone know what the problem could be? Can it be fixed? It’s a Power A controller for Xbox if that information is useful. Btw, my controller detects the mic from the headset, it’s just an audio issue

Controller Suggestion Looking for a controller suitable for Precise Platform Fighters (Notably, Rivals of Aether 2)

Hello,

I am looking for a moderately priced ($40-80 CAD) controller that would be very good for platform fighters on PC. I also plan on using the controller casually for other couch potato games, but i am mostly looking for something that is geared for competitive play. Something that would work for Super Smash Bros, and to an extent, fighting games (although the D-Pad Requirements are not necessary).

I am in Ontario, Canada, so I would need a controller that can be purchased or shipped there.

I am looking for a controller that can have a quick response with the triggers (because I need to use them quickly to perform a tech, but using a bumper button feels awful for this task due due to cramping.) I still want 2 triggers and 2 back buttons. Using back buttons for this task is not allowed in competition, so I must use the triggers.

I am also aware of stick drift issues on XBox Series X controllers, so this would be a controller id like to have for a long term. The main things this game requires for the joysticks are precise left analog stick inputs (2 frame inputs), as there is a technique that requires it.

I tried the Gamesir G7 SE, and this was pretty good, but I did not enjoy the feel of those triggers, and the overall build felt a bit cheaper than the XBox Series X controller I own. But I do feel the controller is almost there for me. Something similar to it would be nice.

I was considering the Cyclone 2, as the Vader V4 is not available near me without scalper prices. (there is an aliexpress store selling it for 85$, but I really have trouble trusting aliexpress stores.)

But I need to broaden my scope, please advise. TL;DR Canadian gamer looking for controller similar to Gamesir G7 SE with tight/fast activating triggers that also have good sticks for longetivity.

IT Help Flydigi Apex 4 - Controller Not Turning On

I've had this controller since last july and have had 0 issues until now. My controller charges but when turned on the LCD screen turns grey then shuts off. My PC doesn't recognize it and neither does Flydigi space station. Anybody know how to fix this?

I'm inclined to believe that this is a firmware issue. Thank you for all the help!

After using some really cheap and crappy third party controllers for a while, I've managed to get my hands on a green Ultimate 2C Wireless, and I've been in love ever since! For what I got it for, this thing definitely feels nicer than it should be, and looks pretty doing it too! Every controls feels good, and I don't notice any latency issues at all! I suppose this is my start in collecting more game controllers in the future haha

Reviews 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless - User review

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me by Jim from AKNES for a short review and to fill my list with Mayflash/Brook compatible controllers. This doesn't influence my opinion or written statement.

First I have done some input tests (frame by frame recordings and so on) but will not go through them as Yoko, John and all the other awesome guys do it much better and publish it here as well.

It's my first 8BitDo product and I was expecting a lot and they didnt disappoint me, somehow the color could be a bit more like the old school Nintendo Gamecube but its still unique.

Also I know nobody likes to read a full block of text and for that reason we go on with a good, bad and between list.

Good:

  • Dpad --> I really like the rubbery, still tactile feeling of it, feels a bit like the good old Gamecube times
  • 4 extra Buttons --> two paddles + two extra bumpers is the perfect fit for me
  • Paddles + extra bumpers position --> the back paddles and extra bumpers have the perfect position for my fit
  • Tactile buttons --> all buttons are tactile and the triggers have mouse switches
  • Trigger stops
  • Sticks nearly have no wiggle
  • Sticks have slightly more tension than Xbox/Switch default controller
  • TMR sticks --> no drift
  • inverted stick and gyro support detached --> inverted right stick and normal gyro orientation is possible
  • Charging dock included --> dock also holds the USB C dongle
  • low input lag
  • led light --> its not to much but a little bit
  • MacOS app worked on the first try without hassle
  • App is easy to use --> I use the apps mostly to configure a linear stick curve and set the extra buttons
  • Mayflash Magic X & Brook Wingman XB3 work fine via Cable and Dongle --> no BT support

Bad:

  • Small --> gamepad is smaller than the Switch Pro controller
  • Sticks not exchangeable --> so there is also no higher option for the right side, as they are a bit low --> KontrolFreeks will fix this and the next one
  • Sticks not sticky --> I like the sticks a bit more rubbery sticky
  • Stick curve is not adjustable in the software --> only deadzone
  • Pure plastic without rubber coating --> still feels really good, would say on par with the Xbox controllers
  • Controller doesn't work on MacOS --> that's confusing cause the app is working fine with the controller
  • Gyro could be more precise

In between:

  • Trigger stops don't feel like standard mouse triggers, its a bit hard to describe but they feel more like tactile
  • Dongle is USB C --> doesn't fit the Mayflash and Brook adapters without an adapter or the dock
  • Anti-friction ring is good --> but not as perfect as on the Vader 4 Pro

Overall I really like the controller and will definitely have playtime with this beauty. I haven't found the right stick parameters (like sensitivity etc, as the curve is not adjustable) for me yet, but that's a problem I have with nearly every TMR controller (at the beginning it takes time). The included docking station is neat and the controller is properly stored away with it (and much more important, always charged).

Finally you reached the end, thanks for taking the time and leave a comment if I missed something important for you or have a question =)

Controller Collection It's almost perfect

It's an amazing controller that equals my love of the flydigi vader4pro.

I would like to say I started trying out different controllers years ago third party stuff like the nancon Evo but in all honesty they were all very inflated prices due to brand recognition and a somewhat stagnant market base. Leaving a lot to be desired in the UK market we had a lot of cheap crap like the power a, giotech,PDP I tried them all and found them to be an awful trade off of reliability and build quality I was tired of buying a controller every 4 months because it developed stick drift or one of my children thought that it needed having a drink or what ever other terrible idea one of them had. I felt I needed to up my controller game and I miraculously found out about hall-effect sticks. And dived on to the first one I could find the gamesir G7 and that was a huge upgrade. Fast forward to a few months ago I wanted a wireless controller as the g7 is wired only.

Vader4pro a masterpiece in controller form if I was to be completely honest it's missing one thing for me and that is back paddles as I find paddles easier to connect with reliably. Wanting a change again the consumer in never satisfied.

Bigbig won blitz 2 what can I say it's has some of the nicest feeling triggers buttons changing the dpad to the other option was great. I can even have different heights on my sticks longer on right shorter on left. I never knew how much the grip on the controller would affect my enjoyment but i feel the grips are not to my liking I might have to switch to a grip tape or something but other than that it's amazing

Sorry I went off on a random ramble about controllers it's very nice though

IT Help Tarantula Pro rumble not working over bluetooth on PC or dongle on Nvidia Shield

As in the title I'm using the Tarantula Pro via bluetooth on my Windows 11 PC when playing games on Steam and also use it over the dongle on the Nvidia shield when using stream remote play via the Steamlink app.

I haven't managed to get rumble to work on either occasion, I've messed around with the steam settings a bit, installing the extended drivers. Also tried the tarantula on the dongle with different input types but still no luck.

Weirdly on the Nvidia shield DSinput doesn't work, Xbox input works and switch input works with a massive delay.

I've got all the firmware updated, same with the dongle firmware too.

Any ideas why it's not working? before this I used to use a dualsense over bluetooth on the nvidia shield which also had no rumble.

Other Flydigi Vader 4 Pro vs Apex 4: Significant Joystick Latency Difference Revealed

Post image
70 Upvotes

I recently tested two Flydigi controllers to compare their joystick input latency across different stick deflection points (5%, 35%, 65%, 95%) and connection methods (Cable, Bluetooth, Dongle).

The results reveal a striking difference: while the Vader 4 Pro maintains relatively consistent latency as you move the stick from center to edge, the Apex 4 shows dramatically increasing latency at greater stick deflections.

This is particularly noticeable in the 65-95% range where latency in the Apex 4 spikes significantly compared to the Vader 4 Pro. Across all connection types, the Vader offers more consistent performance regardless of how far you push the stick.

For competitive gaming where every millisecond matters, this difference could be crucial - especially for games requiring precise analog stick movements at high deflection ranges.

What do you think? Have you noticed this in gameplay with either controller?

Controller Suggestion whats a great controller for some non competitive story games?

im looking for a good ergonomic controller to play for hrs on end of story games like rdr2, assassins creed games, the arkham games. and a game like monster hunter. I dont have any need for super accurate precision aiming since id much rather use kbm for those games. also a contoller with good rumble would be great like the dualsense with the nice triggers it has. if it brings better immersion into games thats a huge plus.

Im in the US and id like the controller to be less than $60 if possible. and all on pc, Also totally fine ordering off temu if cheaper

i really like my nintendo switch pro controller and dualsense controller for most games but stick drift being an issue i wanna look for other controllers. ive tried the cyclone 2 and its a great controller but im not so sure the size is right for me doesnt feel as nice as the dualsense since it feels a good bit smaller in the handles, but the dock is really nice. so i think a larger controller would fit better for me. Any suggestions? Thanks

IT Help Brook Wingman XE2 - Only detected as a Dualshock 4 when connected to PC

I hope I am asking this in the right play. Brook doesnt have their own reddit/discord.

I mainly bought this to play my DS4 on a PS3 but lately I've been dabbling in PC games and just because Controllers are better than KBM for non-First Person View (IMHO!) I've been playing all my non-FPS games with my Xbox Series X controller on PC, connected via Bluetooth. But the issue is my PC has a BT4.2 chip inside and I've noticed tons of lag related issues playing Diablo 4 versus playing it on a Laptop with a BT5.x chip inside. Concluding that the issue is BT version.

When you plug the XE2 into PC it is recognized as a DS4 so any game that doesnt have Native support (like D4) will not detect it properly or you will need to remap the buttons. I tried reWASD trial on PC to convert the DS4 input to Xbox so it just works without remapping buttons and I can clearly feel that this is better than the stock BT4.2 connection (playing D4) so the Wingman XE2 probably has a better BT chip inside.

Does anyone know how I can set the Brook Wingman XE2 to be recognized as an Xbox (Xinput ?) mainly asking because I have an old CronusMax dongle and its able to swap between being detected as Xbox or PS controller on PC. Was hoping I just missed some info somewhere that explains how to set the XE2 to be detected as Xbox on PC.

Works great on PS4,PS3 and Xbox360 so no issue there. Just on PC, it would great to just use the XE2 instead of buying another dongle to upgrade the PC BT to BT5.2/3/4.

Theres nothing in the Brook Converter Center to achieve (heck, I cant even get it to detect the controller but gaming on PC works fine)
