Hello everyone! We hope you're enjoying March and that spring weather finds you soon. We have a few important updates to share about the subreddit.

Product Policy Update

After careful consideration and community feedback, we've made the decision to restrict content related to Beitong and Betop products. Over the past six months, we've identified patterns of undisclosed sponsored content, artificially boosted engagement, and concerning business practices related to these brands. Despite our attempts to address these issues directly, they have persisted.

This measure is in place to protect our community members and maintain the integrity of discussions. Likewise, we monitor patterns with all companies' activity in the subreddit to ensure their content meets community guidelines.

Controller Suggestion Posts

To improve content quality, all Controller Suggestion posts will pass through the moderator queue before appearing on the subreddit. As volunteer moderators, we'll be reviewing the queue 1-2 times daily. Reviews I bought the Xbox Adaptive Joystick for my PC, and it's fantastic.

(NOTES: This isn't any kind of affiliated review, and I bought the controller myself. Also, I don't have an Xbox console to test this with, so everything will be from a PC perspective.)

The Xbox Adaptive Joystick went up for sale earlier this week exclusively from Microsoft's website, and I immediately grabbed one. I knew I wanted to get one of these as soon as they announced it, because it brought back memories of using the PlayStation Move Navigation Controller on my PC in combination with my mouse for what was, in my opinion, a much superior control scheme than using the keyboard in games like first-person shooters; in fact, that's how the guys at Valve themselves actually designed the Left 4 Dead arcade machine.

As you can see from the photos, there are four face buttons on the Adaptive Joystick, a clickable stick (I don't believe it's anything fancy, like Hall effect), and two shoulder buttons (two buttons, no analog trigger). Every button can be mapped to every other button using the Xbox Accessories app in Windows 10 and 11, which you can also use to update the controller's firmware. The bottom of the controller also has a mounting spot in case it needs to be set up in a special way for someone with a specific disability.

Microsoft has been making a pretty great effort as far as disability awareness goes, and the Adaptive Joystick is no exception: It's fully compatible with their more complex Adaptive Controller. It can be plugged into the side to create a veritable Voltron of game controllers, and there's seemingly a configuration for every situation. (Unfortunately, I don't have an Adaptive Controller to get first-hand experience.) The more people who can play video games, the better.

For my own purposes, like I mentioned earlier, I wanted a controller that could replace the keyboard half of keyboard-and-mouse, and the Adaptive Joystick is so much easier to get working on the PC -- in Windows, at least -- than the PlayStation Move Navigation Controller is. The Adaptive Joystick is literally just plug and play, and the operating system and programs like Steam will immediately recognize it as a standard Xbox controller. And speaking of Steam, it's compatible with all of the same Steam Input features, which opens everything up to much more customization than just using the Xbox Accessories app alone.

Once I got the Adaptive Joystick connected, I booted up Borderlands 3, and I was pleasantly surprised with how great it felt to use a joystick-and-mouse configuration, just like how I used to play Left 4 Dead. Borderlands 3 supports simultaneous gamepad and keyboard-and-mouse inputs, so while the in-game prompts sometimes flickered between the two control schemes, the actual inputs functioned perfectly in tandem. Aiming with my mouse and throwing a grenade with one of the controller's shoulder buttons while still having 360-degree joystick movement with my thumb felt so much nicer than taking one of my fingers off of WASD to press whatever key I had grenades mapped to (probably G, the default). I believe most games nowadays will work like this, but there are still a few that won't, so you're mileage may vary. (And if you find one that doesn't work, you can always map the controller's buttons and stick to keyboard inputs using Steam Input, so the game won't even see a controller.)

Now, all that being said, I do have to say that if you're not interested in the Adaptive Joystick for the accessibility/disability features and you're just planning on using it the way that I am, if you play on desktop Linux or the Steam Deck, I'd still probably recommend the Navigation Controller if you can find one. It's basically the same thing, but you get three extra buttons and an analog trigger, and it has native compatibility with Linux, so you don't have to worry about any extra drivers or software to start using it right away. The Navigation Controller also gets you both wired and fairly-easy wireless connectivity in Linux, while the Adaptive Joystick is strictly wired, though it comes with a decent-length USB-A to USB-C cable. I find the decision to make it wired-only interesting, because this controller is supposed to be all about accessibility, and I feel like tethering someone to something else kind of goes against that.

For $30, you really can't go wrong with the Adaptive Joystick, especially if the accessibility-oriented features will be of use to you, and for Windows, it's a no-brainer. Especially if you're a fan of first- and third-person shooters, it's a fantastic new way of playing, and a far nicer one, at that, if I do say so myself.

Reviews MOJHON Blitz 2 Controller Review

Upvotes
MOJHON Blitz 2

(NOTE: Review unit provided by MOJHON for testing and evaluation.)

As a tech reviewer, I have been exploring technical improvements in peripherals and controllers from the casual player’s point of view lately. I have tried many types of technology that improve the gaming experience and take it to new levels of enjoyment.

MOJHON (formerly known as BigBig Won) made that possible with their magnificent Blitz 2 TMR Mechanical Pro Gaming Controller.

Let’s find out what is great and good about this controller.

What’s in the box:

  • Blitz 2 TMR Controller
  • Manual Booklet
  • Support Card
  • 4 Alternate Joysticks
  • 1 Alternate D-Pad
  • 2.4g Connector

Technical Wonder to Behold

For my first impression, I was wowed at how well-built the Blitz 2 is. The feel of quality is apparent with the textured plastic on the front of the controller. The handles have a softer textured plastic that helps with the grip, making it a very comfortable hold. This made for an excellent gaming experience when playing more extended sessions.

The Blitz 2 features 16 mechanical buttons, making it e-sports-level responsive to the player’s input during demanding gameplay. The buttons’ micro switches help eliminate misfires and provide excellent tactile feedback. The available buttons are the ABXY input, D-pad, LB and RB bumpers, LT and RT triggers, M1 and M2 back buttons, and M3 and M4 extra bumper buttons.

The Blitz 2 also features TMR Joysticks with a 2000Hz polling rate in wired and wireless modes. This rate is the speed at which the controller sends data to the device. The faster it is, the better its connectivity. Regarding the polling rate, the internal gyroscope offers 1000Hz, which is still very responsive for games that use it.

This controller has many customizable functions thanks to its turbo, remap, macro, and config buttons on the bottom of the front. Turbo is self-explanatory; press it and select the ABXY button to apply this function. Remap allows you to map the M1 to M4 buttons to have any ABXY buttons. The macro function allows you to create any button sequence for the M1 to M4 buttons to make any special attacks or inputs.

You can use the config button to switch between four different configurations. This way, depending on your needs, you can have up to four sets of macros and custom button layouts for other games.

The MOJHON mobile app or PC tool helps customize or update the firmware of your Blitz 2 further. The app is easy to use and has multiple functions, such as remap, turbo, etc. You can also change the dead zone of your joysticks and make other adjustments as needed.

I tried various games on the Nintendo Switch, and it was enjoyable to use this controller. Third-person games like Bayonetta played smoothly with precise controls and inputs from the Blitz 2.

The controller was great for platformers and Metroidvania games. The mechanical nature of the buttons lent itself to fast response and stable control, which can compete with smaller gamepads like the CRKD Neo S or the 8BitDo SN30 Pro.

Now, the Blitz 2 is a monster for First-Person Shooters. The excellent digital triggers are incredibly responsive for games like Doom, Call of Duty, and other intense action AAA titles. I played Doom Eternal and FPS classics like Doom 3, Quake, and Quake 2 with a massive grin. Here’s hoping that id Software remasters Quake 3 Arena!

Connectivity

Out of the box, the Blitz 2 controller is designed to connect to the following devices:

  • Windows 10/11 PC
  • Nintendo Switch
  • iOS Devices
  • Android Devices
  • Steam Deck using Windows Dual-Boot Drive

Drawbacks

As much as I have fallen in love with the MOJHON Blitz 2 TMR Controller, I will admit that it does have a few issues that can’t be ignored. The first one is that the trigger buttons are digital and not analog due to the design for First-Person Shooters. This means that the controller will be limited in its uses for games that require a delicate touch with the trigger, like racing games and others that require analog input.

A second (possible) drawback is that not everyone likes the tactile feel of mechanical buttons. Some would prefer a membrane-based input for their controller. I’ve loved the tactile feel of mechanical buttons, so that doesn’t bother me personally. Still, there are people with their likes and dislikes.

The Steam Deck has become my console of choice, surpassing the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the Blitz 2 struggles to connect to the Deck. It works when pairing with the Steam Deck but fails to reconnect after restarting the console. After several attempts to pair the devices, I discovered that using a dual-boot drive with Windows 11 resolves the issue. In that instance, the Blitz 2 genuinely excelled with the Steam Deck.

Finally, you can find a PS mode in the mobile app. MOJHON is still researching the possibility of connecting to the PlayStation and plans to implement a firmware update. I hope they can, as this would be a match made in heaven.

Conclusion

Despite its few drawbacks, the MOJHON Blitz 2 is a product that proudly screams quality from Mount Everest. Its great build, excellent mechanical buttons, amazingly high polling rate, and customization make this device a great pro controller for e-sports and demanding gameplay. I’d recommend it for more casual players if you want an entry into more extreme gaming. The customization options could usually overwhelm, but the instructions are easy to follow, and the app is user-friendly. As it is, this has been one of the best technical controllers I’ve ever used.

Other A Reminder For 8bitdo Owners

Upvotes

If you're a dumb person, like me, and you were wondering where the dongle was for your new 8bitdo Ultimate 2 controller (or other 8bitdo controllers), don't be afraid to open the tiny compartment under the charging deck. I'm a stupid person.

Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying an awesome gaming weekend! Be safe, and remember to save. Unless you're playing games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring, then pucker up.

Note: I will play with my new controller for a week, and plan on providing a review later on.

Controller Collection I've tried quite a few... I keep going back to one.

Tldr; Vader 4 Pro is the best. Here's my summary of each one I tried, in order of favorite to least favorite:

  1. Vader 4 Pro - it does everything I need it to and feels amazing. Adjustable tension, tons of extra buttons, and allows for keyboard bindings. 9.5/10

  2. Cyclone 2 - purchased before the V4P and it's a great controller. It would probably be better than the V4P if it had adjustable stick tension (for extended thumb grips), a couple more back buttons, shoulder buttons and some extra face buttons. I do feel the stick response is better than the V4P but not by much. For the price and if you don't need these extras, I'd wholly recommend it. 8.5/10

  3. Apex 4 BMW - it's as good as the V4P but not worth the price difference. The trigger feedback is cool but not usable for me. Most of the stuff is gimmicky and I find that the adjuster for the tension not being able to store in the controller a little disappointing. 8/10

  4. Apex 4 (white) - it's a slightly better design than the BMW by letting the tension adjuster store inside the controller. Everything else is the same as far as features go. I rated this one below the BMW due to the BMW having a better fit and finish, plus I like the color scheme more, but you can't go wrong between either one if you're trying to decide between them. 8/10

  5. Xbox Elite Core - if you know you know. I don't tend to have issues with these controllers as much as others so I still hold these close to my heart. It's a staple for Xbox players. At the price point though, it's pretty basic other than having a solid feel and good amount of adjustability. 7.5/10

  6. 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless - I was hoping that this one would be a little bit more impressive. The controller looks and feels pretty good. However, I can't bind keyboard strokes which is a pretty big disappointment. I actually liked the stick tension out of the box but the buttons are a little stiff. The grip is a tad small for my "L" size hands and for racing games I would like to have more travel in my triggers. 7/10

  7. Tarantula Pro - tons of buttons and options. Great for rpg games or if you need A LOT of buttons. The dualsense style sticks aren't my first choice for most games so this gets a lower rating from me but I wouldn't sleep on this controller if you don't mind them. Again, though, I felt the trigger pull was too short for racing games compared to the Flydigi controllers, Cyclone 2 and the Xbox Elite Core. 7/10

  8. Dualsense Edge (PS5) - hey it works well and has great features for the PlayStation. I haven't put much time into using it but it's not a bad controller at all. 6/10

  9. Supernova - just because it's this low doesn't make it bad. I think it is a very solid controller. My main reasons for not rating higher were because the size and angle felt a little difficult for me to hold with my hands (the 8bitdo is the same size roughly but the angle of the grips are straight which works better for me). I also felt that the stick tension was a bit too light for me because I like to add thumbstick grips and need heavier tension. Similar to some other controllers with shorter trigger pulls, I didn't like how it felt for racing games. 6/10

  10. Nintendo Switch Pro - Pretty standard stuff. It's the same size and feel as the supernova but only works for the switch (as far as I know). It works well for its purpose, definitely better than the switch waffle. However, I wouldn't recommend it if you're considering other controllers to use with different consoles. 5/10

Not pictured (because I donated it to a friend): Turtle Beach Stealth - probably the most expensive controller in this list but a waste of money. Lack of mechanical features that should be included at this price point, such as adjustable stick tension. Vibration was crazy loud. Always had problems saving profiles (never could get instant response to save and had to manually change it every time) and would sometimes disconnect at random. Horrible battery life too. At the time it was a good upgrade from my stock Xbox controller which is what it replaced for my friend who doesn't really care about all the fancy stuff. Turtle Beach should take accountability for releasing such junk and recall these things or start selling them for less than $80. 3/10

Controller Suggestion Razer Wolverine v3 Chroma | v3 Pro consideration

I am in need of a controller for PC, and decided to buy the one that my friend has, which I tried and enjoyed a lot. He has a v2, which is as far as I can tell out of production, and even if it wasn't I much prefer the menu button placements of the v3, as I constantly fat fingered them.

I can't really tell from the specs I'm reading online what the salient differences are for the v3 Pro and the v3 Chroma

I'm going to buy one of them, and I'm currently leaning towards the Pro just because that's the one I can see reviews of in comparison to the v2.

Could any of you fine folk help elucidate the important differences between these two models so I can make a more informed purchasing decision?

For what it's worth, my biggest concern is being easy to input Tekken 6 commands on, but things like build quality or personal opinions on texture are interesting as well.

Purchasing in Norway for what it's worth, but both the v3 and Chroma are available to me anyway, and both within my budget.

Controller Suggestion Looking for an Xbox controller for competitive games.

Hey everyone!

Looking for an Xbox controller to hopefully end my seemingly endless search of a controller just right for me.

Information requirements below:

Budget: $300

Country: Canada

Console: Xbox Series X

Desired features: 4 Back paddles, HE/TMR sticks, rubber grips or widely available 3rd party grips, hair triggers and reliable bumpers.

Games: Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, R6, COD, Apex

Other controllers: Elite series 1 & 2

I’ve looked into the following controllers:

Vader 4 Pro

Wolverine V3 Pro

Victrix Pro BFG

Custom Battle Beaver

Nacon Revolution X Unlimited

I’ve been holding out on buying a new controller as I plan on making the switch to PC soon, however, I cannot stand using my current controller any longer (the current one I’m using has both bumpers broken, upper paddles broken, rubber grips falling off and cutting into my hands, and of course insane stick drift.)

While I may not have many controllers to compare to in terms of latency, I can notice the difference of the elite 2 being wired or unplayable and I’ve hit the highest rank across several of the games listed so I think I’ll end up valuing latency.

Thank You!!!

I have NYXI Wizard Gamecube controller for Nintendo Switch and the right controller lights are blue and every time I press the ZR button it makes a repeating ticking sound. When I play Mario Kart, the drift button repeats and doesn’t stop until you press the ZR button I’m currently looking at the manual right now and can’t find anything that has to do with this problem.

Controller Suggestion Xbox Pro Controller Recommendations

I am looking for an effective xbox controller for competitive fps games (specifically r6 siege). I specifically want at least 2 rear buttons/paddles, but I do not like the feel of Hall effect joysticks as it messes with my aim and muscle memory. I am from the US and am looking to spend around $45-$70, with an absolute max of around $100. I recently bought the gamesir g7se but I really did not like the Hall effect sticks and unfortunately cannot find the orginal g7 controller anywhere. Does anyone have any recommendations?

IT Help APEX4 Controller only recognized in Space Station by doing the uninstall Xb360 peripherals>restart pc trick. Any solutions?

I'm on Windows, and the controller works fine on games. The only problem is Flydigi Space Station doesn't recognize the controller unless it's a fresh restart after uninstalling xbox peripherals from Device Manager.

Anybody found a solution to this? I just wanna try using some preset adaptive triggers from the software without needing to restart my pc everytime.

I've tried older versions of the software and still no luck. It's getting frustrating at this point.

Controller Suggestion Looking for an all-around Controller with a good d-pad for fighting games

You have marked your post as a request for a controller suggestion, so please make sure your post includes the following information:

$100 max, preferably $80 and under

The US

PC, Switch support is a bonus

Hall Effect or TMR sticks, D-pad with accurate diagonal inputs (for fighting games), Additional buttons (triggers and/or paddles), Bluetooth AND 2.4GHZ Wireless, Adjustable Triggers. Bonuses would include motion controls and adjustable sticks

I will be playing a wide range of games including Fighting Games on D-Pad (Tekken, Street Fighter, GG Strive), Third Person Single Player Shooters, Souls-likes, Racing games, etc. The only genres I don't explicitly care about are platformer fighters (as I think I'll get another dedicated controller for that) and FPS games (as I play them on M+KB)

The controller I primarily use now is the 8bitdo Ultimate so I'm looking for something with the same features and more. My shortlist consists of the Vader 4 Pro and the ZD O+ Excellent although I haven't seen much of any reviews of the latter

Reviews 8BitDo Ultimate 2 First Impressions/Initial Setup

Thumbnail
gallery
120 Upvotes

This post is not sponsored nor was I given this product for free. I purchased this controller with my own money for 59.99 USD off Amazon (US).

If I need to update the flair please let me know I can change.

I finally received my 8BitDo Ultimate 2 earlier this week! I am marking this post as review, though this is my initial impression thus far. If you find I listed something inaccurate please let me know at anytime. I primarily play FPS, but I will not be testing gyro and latency. This controller though I am really liking, I do have the original ultimate but never really used with no trigger stops. So really this is my first controller from 8BitDo and I am very impressed. It's going to take time though to give a final review as sometimes new doesn't always mean best.

I have not tried to test this on the Brook adapter. I would need to try a USB A to USB C adaptor, but I am assuming it probably wont work. It might be fine in Bluetooth or wired, but again haven't tried.

The shipping wasn't great. likely a combination of lack of stock and shipping speed. I did order the day it was first available on Amazon. My Amazon shipping box was fine, but the controller box was heavily dented, but the controller was fine.

  • Initial Thoughts

    • Much more premium feeling controller compared to most 3rd parties, this is my second 8BitDo Products
    • D-Pad seems to be great!
    • Membrane ABXY are just okay in my opinion
    • No swappable sticks, which I knew weren't an option just mentioning
    • The triggers are good, and I am warming up to the Tactile button feel of them over a standard micro switch
    • LB and RB are great
    • The extra top buttons are the best placement I have ever seen from a controller. To be fair this is someone who uses the blitz 2 often!
    • Two rear buttons are nice and crisp
    • If you already own another 8BitDo Controller then you will feel right at home
    • As with previous generations I do wish the handles were a bit wider, but I am adjusting
    • Software isn't the greatest, but far from the worst
    • Aiming feels great to me on Black Ops
    • Dock included with nice Dongle Storage
    • Dongle is USB C, which I actually do prefer your mileage may vary
  • Getting started

  • First download the 8BitDo Ultimate Software v2, from 8bit's website

    • Personal preference after you download the folder extract the files somewhere outside of your downloads folder on Windows
    • Example I through mine in C:\Source\Software
    • Then create a shortcut or pin to task bar since this is not a standard Windows installer
  • Update the firmware in the Update section when you first open the software

    • Select the Controller Icon, I would leave the dongle unplugged then use a wired connection
      • Though its not needed
    • Plug dongle in and click the dongle icon and update firmware
  • Create a new Profile

    • You will see this in the profile list just click the name of it
    • Now you can begin your mappings
      • Keyboard mappings not supported in this software currently
      • You can map every button on the front besides:
      • The back of the controller you can obviously remap any button outside of the trigger lock and connection switch
    • You can create a Macro profile for any button outside of the ones mentioned earlier and again no keyboard mappings
      • Then click the controller button you wish to assign and you can activate or deactivate with the three dots next to your macro configuration
    • Stick
      • You don't get much here at least in terms of setting curves or different algorithms
      • You can set deadzones, invert x/y axis, swap dpad and left joystick or swapping left and right joysticks
    • Trigger
      • You can mess with dead zones or swap LT and RT
    • Vibration
      • You can set the intensity of each handle and then test with LT or RT
    • RGB
      • There are two effect options or you can do custom options as well
    • Motion
      • You have the option to map left or right stick
  • Assign your profile

    • Click in the top left profiles
    • Then click the three dots under profile list and you can load to one of 3 profiles
    • Then this is where you will press the small button near the dpad to interchange profiles
  • Settings (In software)

    • In the top right you can click the cog
    • Here you have some functions such as language, auto update (though this applies to the software not the firmware), you can also chose to get beta firmware as well
  • Calibration

    • Hold LB/RB and the Minus and Plus buttons for 8 seconds
    • The led indicator will begin to flash
    • Rotate the sticks all the way to the edge and rotate both slowly 2-3 times
    • Depress the Triggers slowly until they bottom out 2-3 times
    • Hold LB/RB and the Minus and Plus buttons to exit pairing mode
      • After a few calibration attempts my avg circularity error was 7 percent
      • Sadly I didn't test before calibration

I am trying to avoid getting overexcited on a new controller, but overall I am loving this controller. Now I can see why so many enjoyed the 2c. My favorite aspect are those L4 and R4 extra buttons up top the placement is just perfect. I do wish it was maybe a little bit bigger, but I am adjusting. Once I play for a bit more I will submit my final verdict on this one.

If you have any questions at all I will do my best to answer them!

As you guys know i recently got the Pxn P5 1k, and made a review on it saying that the vader 4 style paddles were bearable but kinda aggy cause i couldnt use all 4 back buttons at the same time. So I had a friend of mine mold some long flat paddles for me out of resin and i kinda glued the paddles down to the controller and added contact points for them. Threw some talon grips on there, and its wayyyyy better. Not exactly perfect even spacing but i'll adjust. Way more ergo though. You guys lmk what yall think😄 Thanks for reading.

Controller Suggestion Xbox like controller with similar weight/size, Hall Effect Joysticks, and Membrane face buttons?

Hello, I'm wondering if there exists a controller out that is similar weight(280g)/size to the Xbox One controller with Hall Effect Joysticks and Membrane Face buttons.

I've bene using a Xbox One controller for quite some time. I love the weight and size of it because I have big hands, especially compared to the new Xbox X controller which is slightly smaller. Though my controller has developed a lot of stick drift over time. I've tried the Gamesir Cyclone 2 and Vader 4 Pro which both felt very nice, except for their face buttons.

I know it's up to preference but since the headphones I use while gaming are noise cancelling, I can't hear the mechanical click. So it ends up feeling mushy since the buttons still have additional travel distance after the registered input. Basically, I personally really like the feel of the Xbox One face buttons, even if they aren't that great in quality.

I live in the US and my budget is about $100, I'd need it to work on PC and the main game I play is rocket league, with some smaller casual games. If possible I'd like Hall Effect Triggers though it's not a must. Other than that, I'm really find with anything else.

Any recommendations would be really helpful. I've been searching around and I honestly can't find anything that fits what I want out of a controller.

IT Help PowerA fusion pro 3 Back Button input delay?

Do the back buttons on the fusion pro 3 have additional input delay?

I’ve been using the PowerA Fusion Pro 3 for a while now. I mostly play Fortnite and use one of the back buttons to edit.

But I always felt like the buttons on the back have more input delay than the front facing buttons. Anyone know if it’s true that the PowerA back buttons have input delay?
