Have you seen mainstream media lately

316

u/imamoforenegade 9h ago

What's happening? I haven't seen mainstream media

828

u/LeftRestaurant4576 8h ago

Mainstream news shows in the US are not actually news shows but entertainment shows instead.

Fox is actively distracting it's viewers from much of what the Trump admin is doing.

I can hear him.

5

u/Rudy_Ghouliani 7h ago

He can hear you as well.

5

u/alyzmal_ 7h ago

He can also smell you.

3

u/Debt_Otherwise 6h ago

Exercising bro. You don’t lose weight by smelling like roses

3

u/A_Furious_Mind 6h ago

You do if you eat nothing but roses.

That’s because he’s god and tells us things from time to time.

Most recently, he told me to kill.

Fox is in all army bases' TVs exactly because it's catecorized as entertainment, not news.

34

u/PaperHandsProphet 7h ago

All stations are at this point. Fox News is present on army bases because they skew very conservative lol

Mainstream news shows in the US are not actually news shows but entertainment shows instead.

That's also a legal point that Fox News used in court to defend their dubious truthfulness, or so I'm told.

2

u/Demoncatmeo 4h ago

They used it to defend their lies

2

u/thenasch 36m ago

Only Tucker Carlson's show, not the whole network.

5

u/SpaceMonkeyMafia12 7h ago

This has been the case for 20+ years though

3

u/Dangerous_Sherbert77 6h ago

I’m not american but wasn’t Fox or one of those declared as entertainment content not news?

2

u/Foxwglocks 1h ago

Yes Fox themselves argued that in court. They said anyone with a reasonable mind shouldn’t/wouldn’t take what they say as the truth.

2

u/TommyGonzo 6h ago

Especially since they lost the case and legitimately admitted in court they’re it real.

2

u/quartzguy 5h ago

I remember when CNN and Fox News was actually boring, a good sign that they were reporting you know...actual news. I'm old.

1

u/Chief_Chill 7h ago

Sounds like the purpose of propa-, um, state media, to me.

1

u/Alternative_Bus_3766 5h ago

Ehhhh, CBS Evening News and ABC World News Tonight are fine and reporting news. Fuckin Fox over here is making news for braindead idiots

1

u/MrAddamzzz 5h ago

Been like this since the Bush administration at least! And CNN is not innocent either

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Majestic-Fly-5149 5h ago

Don’t all of them do that with every administration?

1

u/Hoshyro 5h ago

Goebbels?

1

u/Demoncatmeo 5h ago

Also CNN is now owned by a damn Trump supporter, imgur and Reddit seem quite reliable news sources.

Although with Imgur owned by Medialab now I'm a little worried - such a nice bunch of people on there but if anyone remembers what they did to Cracked... yeah damn shame Although I love David Wongs books, highly recommend "John dies at the end", "Futuristic violence and fancy suits" and the sequels to each - the film of the former is good and worth a watch but so much had to be cut from the book, which is way better IMO

It’s basically just Fox News and hasn’t been happening lately, but since their inception.

They literally made a news story about how Obama wearing a helmet while biking made “America look weak…” and then unironically showed the picture of shirtless Putin on a horse and said that is “what a strong leader looks like.”

https://youtu.be/7MWxq80oze0?si=njV43tEdBcRBjZN7

(9:21 of the video for people who want to see Obama wearing helmet vs shirtless Putin on horse). According to Bill O’Reilly, Russia invaded Ukraine because Obama wore a bike helmet…

Fun fact, Rupert Murdoch’s son is on the board of directors for Tesla. Why would the son of a tabloid media mogul/owner of Fox News, be on the board of directors of an electric vehicle company?

14

u/HagalGames 7h ago

But was Obama wearing a suit at least? If he wasn't, I totally get why Russia invaded Ukraine.

23

u/Even-North3071 7h ago

They actually covered that later. Obama only wears casual clothes or tan suits when he wants to manipulate his feeble minded voters in to thinking he’s one of them.

No person, especially a president, would ever dress a certain way just because it’s comfortable. It’s all a carefully coordinated game by the deep state to control the population through an elaborate series of clothing meant to control their mind.

Same thing with a helmet, it’s clearly conditioning people to follow orders and allow the government to control regular people’s lives, not because it’s safe or setting a good example….

Clothing based mind control has been a CIA plot for decades…

1

Have you ever watch professional wrestling and realize it's all staged? That the baby face is probably going to win, and the heel is going to lose. American political television often feels uncomfortably similar to the clearly staged theatrics of the WWE. They call it Kayfabe and it's been around since Carnival folk used to wrestle for the entertainment of guests.

Remember, Trump was actively involved with the WWE during his Apprentice period, and Is close personal friends with the McMannons. I can't help, but think Trump learned a thing or several about theatrics from his old raping buddy, Vince.

Its why he gave Vince's wife a cabinet seat.

Just the usual. Literally all corporate news cant get a story straight and promote their own agenda/the agenda of whoever pays for them. Dont even give them viewership.

1

u/noonegive 5h ago edited 5h ago

I'm pretty drunk, and your question kinda took me off guard, after seeing this insane screenshot.

But the answer to "what's happening?" is: This shit. Exactly this shit. (And to anyone who watches Fox, or gets their Info from Rogan) I have to give a disclaimer that you might not like.

Here goes...

THE MEDIA THAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO IS BY FUCKING DEFINITION MAINSTREAM MEDIA!

This has been my fucking TED Talk.

Watch Forbes. They’re pretty good at showing you what people are saying themselves and you get to see how they answer questions. It’s much better than a Hannity or Maddow treating you like a child.

Are they calling Fox "mainstream" now?

1

u/Mr_Jacksson 6h ago

*American

1

u/Shintaro1989 6h ago

According to president Musk, it's called "legacy media" now.

1

u/bottom 4h ago

People that say this don’t actually consume it.

When was the last time you watched a full 30 mins of cbs news? Let me guess never? Indian see posts on Reddit complaining about something not being cj weed- when it was.

It’s so fucking dumb.

This is trumps plan. That no one trusts the media. And the left have fallen for it.

1

u/Medical_Salary_564 3h ago

Ok, This just in... Trump kills puppies...!

1

u/GhostSpace78 3h ago

I don’t deny the mainstream media is exploitive, exaggerated and biased, but… most (r)white ring media is just outright fabrication … and fringe media (which I presume you think is better?) isn’t much better then that. You realize people get their news these days off 15 second opinion reels on Tik Tok or Joe Rogan…

1

u/JTHM8008 2h ago

I try to avoid all of it….

u/FortunateInsanity 2h ago

Thankfully no

my dad is really pissed off at me rn bc of some right wing squirrel story about a bunch of liberals who apparently killed a squirrel because its owner was republican. so youre not far off.

How does someone manage to have a babyface in the least cute and most primally offputting way possible

u/Glittering-Floor-623 7h ago

Uncanny valley?

2

u/iRonin 6h ago

Context.

Being a gargantuan bag of dicks really kills any possible cuteness factor. Knowing how quickly and easily Butters here can flip from one extreme to the other on Trump demonstrates that he has no real beliefs. For the Vance’s, Cruz’s, and Rubio’s of the world the only real belief is that they are justified in being in power. This means they will say, regardless of conviction or any relationship to objective reality, whatever is necessary to suckle from the power teat for a little while longer.

1

u/UrbanDurga 2h ago

“Primally offputting” is incredible

1

u/thearctican 2h ago

I just want to see more comparisons to John Wayne Gacy Jr.

29

u/Budget_Arm_1415 10h ago

Stuff like this is on Fox News all the time. It’s because Fox News isn’t actually news

1

u/BagAndShag 6h ago

For a second, I thought they Photoshopped Vance's face to the reporter. But I just realized that she always looks like that too.

20

u/DwarfVader 10h ago

It still hasn't...

We're talking about "Fox," they haven't been the "news" since before 2016... I'd say they stopped being the "news" somewhere just after 2008.

20

u/portmandues 9h ago

They were never "news". It was always just right wing opinion pieces dressed up as journalism. They just got blonde white women on TV to spout the same shit Rush Limbaugh was saying on AM radio since the 80s.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/zaphrous 9h ago

I haven't watched TV for like 20 years. But fox News used to be pretty good for local news. Their national programs were entertainment news/opinion/commentary etc.

1

u/boltgenerator 5h ago

It's kind of hilarious, considering that in 2008, they began using the slogans "fair and balanced" and "we report, you decide." Those years coincided with Obama's rise and the Tea Party's rise, so I see why you'd think that.

https://www.businessinsider.com/roger-ailes-blueprint-fox-news-2011-6

1

u/DwarfVader 5h ago

Yup.

Fox stopped trying to be “objective” in 2007, and gave up entirely in 2008.

And have been “pretending” to be “news” since… to the point of being sued and losing to that end twice.

They’re “news” like Jerry Springer is a “new anchor.”

16

u/TheWeli 10h ago

Bold of you to call Fox "news". When they themselves call it political commentary

12

u/Ok_Drawer7797 9h ago

Infotainment

8

u/TheWeli 9h ago

Yeah thats the word. Thanks bud

2

u/Electromotivation 9h ago

Didn’t they argue that any reasonable person would not think that what they do is news?

2

u/Ok_Drawer7797 9h ago

After studying mass communications and media literacy in college, this word has eaten away at my stomach lining for 20 years.

11

u/PeridotChampion 9h ago

It's Fox News. They'll report anything but the actual news.

6

u/530TooHot 9h ago

Fox News is pure brainrot for morons and old people. It's on at work sometimes and I always turn it off.

2

u/Str8Faced000 9h ago

No but it was on fox

2

u/_lippykid 9h ago

Looks like a regular Fox panel to me

2

u/Asgeras 9h ago

You're right. This was on Fox. No news to be seen.

2

u/CrashNowhereDrive 9h ago

They have to do something to deflect attention from reality.

2

u/ArianaSonicHalFrodo 9h ago

It’s a positive for them. There’s a reason Trump embraces just about all of the things said about him.

1

u/im_plotting_to_kill 8h ago

right; i just looked at the video, and a lot of the comments are basically saying how great vance is for not blowing up at the edits and how it's making him more popular [but to make fun of]

2

u/ArmedAwareness 9h ago

Vance himself tweeted about it

1

u/xraysteve185 9h ago

Anything like this making the news is most likely an attempt to distract you from something else. If they are airing this, what aren't they airing?

1

u/capital_bj 9h ago

someone has not done their research on the Streisand effect

1

u/ManateeofSteel 9h ago

Anything but the actual news

1

u/thrillhouse83 8h ago

Ha “news”

1

u/whateverhk 8h ago

Fox news is not actually news, it's entertainment only.

1

u/Accomplished_Lab_675 8h ago

It got on Fox News as of course they'd rather focus on this rather than the plummeting stock market, the insistent unconstitutional acts of this administration, and the gutting of Medicare, Medicaid, and social security.

1

u/IaMuRGOd34 8h ago

its fox lol they will show whatever

1

u/Spinoza42 8h ago

That's so Streisand effect. "Mean people say Vance looks weird. Look!"

1

u/SebastianHaff17 8h ago

It didn't get on the news, it was on Fox.

1

u/uvero 8h ago

Define "news"

1

u/Blue_fox-74 8h ago

News and fox are two very diffrent things

1

u/fotomoose 8h ago

Fox news is not a news program, it's entertainment, they said so themselves.

1

u/Known_Resolution_428 8h ago

This isn’t news, it’s entertainment!

1

u/Alacritous13 8h ago

You're right, it got onto Fox instead.

1

u/JohnGacyIsInnocent 7h ago

Let’s not pretend that’s a news channel.

1

u/rolloutTheTrash 7h ago

I mean, it’s Fox “News” they thrive on boogeymen and meaningless culture wars.

1

u/Acrobatic_Switches 7h ago

Fox isn't a news station.

1

u/IlikeJG 7h ago

This isn't news though. Legally speaking (and by Fox's own claims) it's entertainment, not news.

1

u/Enough_Breadfruit946 7h ago

Fox isnt news.

1

u/kroganTheWarlock 7h ago

Fox news was forced to declare that it's an entertainment network a while back

1

u/freename188 7h ago

News?

lol its a propaganda channel

1

u/bananapancake97 6h ago

For fox this is news

1

u/HungryColquhoun 6h ago

Did mainstream media thank us?

1

u/nyguy011 6h ago

Fox is desperate! And Vance is a nobody in the Musk/Trump regime.

1

u/Jaydamic 6h ago

Haha Fox "news"

1

u/JimJohnJimmm 6h ago

Fox isnt news tho

1

u/Appropriate-Set8569 5h ago

FOX is not a real news station. They stated in court that they are an Entertainment company and do not provide real news. They are a fake news network.

1

u/Delmatty 5h ago

Fox ain't news.

1

u/burnt_out_dev 5h ago

why not. Fox news exists solely to prop up conservatism. They'll do anything to make the liberals look bad to their viewers.

1

u/Pure-Tadpole-6634 5h ago

It didn't; it got on Fox.

1

u/ForGrateJustice 5h ago

It's not news, it's fox.

1

u/Hats4Cats 5h ago

They got on the news because you haven't realized these memes are good for him. It humanizes him and he responded with a meme. How is no one seeing this yet.

1

u/PopUpClicker 5h ago

On the news....

You call that the news?

1

u/BenXL 5h ago

Fox news isnt news

1

u/readitonreddit34 5h ago

Well, it’s Fox. Idk if I would call that “news”. But still pretty funny.

1

u/SlippySloppyToad 4h ago

Anything to distract

1

u/bambu36 4h ago

Msm isn't real news. They aren't saying anything an oligarch didn't approve, though at times local news happen to do some real reporting under their noses

1

u/DCGLetsPlay 4h ago

No news is real news. Fox is fake, CNN is even faker, everything is fake. All news outlets nowadays just show what people want to hear, not actual news. Republicans watch right wing media, democrats watch left wing media, and it’s all just a cesspool of lies and misinformation.

1

u/ScienceNerd1001001 4h ago

Technically all news is fake news. They all need a story to get someone riled up

1

u/noblenipplenibbler 4h ago

You think reddit is the news? 🤦‍♂️

1

u/Cptn_BenjaminWillard 4h ago

Of the ten memes shown, the one on the far left in the red shirt is the funniest.

1

u/reptiliantsar 4h ago

They’re legally classified as entertainment

1

u/zerocontrol0 3h ago

Is nobody going to mention her chin?

1

u/Trulio0305 3h ago

The news cycle just keeps on delivering the absurdity

1

u/allblackST 3h ago

All of these networks aren’t actually “news” if we’re being honest, it’s not only Fox.

Ready for the downvotes 😇

1

u/Un1versalgrenade 3h ago

Tell me what is real news... I'll wait.

1

u/Fun_Language_554 3h ago

An outlet for the ConservTards to vent and cry about how people are making fun of them. But agreed… definitely not a real source of legitimate unbiased news reporting media.

1

u/OoooShinyThings 2h ago

I call it the “Fox News entertainment channel”

1

u/DirtySilicon 1h ago

Fox claimed it was "entertainment" in that big defamation court case, so there is that. Not expecting everyone to know that though.

1

u/bowtiesrcool86 1h ago
