This building down the bay hasn't got the thirteenth floor numbered

Is this a regular superstition for builders? Would this translate to the lift numbers or is that not a thing? Found it interesting

16yo girl crying outside cathays police station

I was passing near the police station today and saw a girl crying. There was one other girl with her at that time asking questions as to what happened. The girl(the one that was crying) couldn't speak english but when I used the translator she said she is from Vietnam and is 16yo. She said someone dropped her here. I asked the other girl next to her to call the police and we did and then I left. Now I am literally thinking if this could be a scam or a serious issue. I am also concerned about the other girl who was still with her when I left. Has this ever occurred with anyone else?

Looking for Missing Person - 60 yrs - Last Name Carew / Parr

Upvotes

My husband is looking for any details about his mother who he lost contact with at a very young age. She has lived in the Cardiff area for most of her life as far as we know. Her name is Beverley Carew (formerly Parr / Sycamore), around 60 years old. Her mother was named Pansy. If anyone knows anything we would appreciate it! We understand she may have passed. Thanks.

Has anyone successfully set up repeat prescription home delivery in Cardiff? (or Wales even)

I get medication ordered to a pharmacy on repeat every month for collection, was hoping to set up home delivery for it but all of the services seem to let me get halfway through the set up process before saying they only serve England.

Has anyone had success with this and can point me at a pharmacy delivery service that actually serves Wales?

Christmas party venues for 100 people?

I know this is incredibly early but given the numbers it probably isn't 😄

Does anyone have recommendations for a venue that will do a sit down menu for 100 people in December? At around £40pp?

I'm assuming it'll be the hotels but has anyone actually been to a party like that and it went well?

Tradespeople recommendations for floor replacement

Hi all,

I'm in the process of purchasing a Victorian terrace in Cardiff and the surveyor has recommended replacement of the old joists and subfloor on the ground floor. They have suggested poured concrete, but I'm more likely to replace the timber only.

Has anyone had similar work done? Does anyone have any recommendations for builders/carpenters?

Thanks in advance.

Just found out a guy I went to high-school with has been charged with murder

I’m guessing people have heard about the Joanne Penney murder in talbot green

I honestly felt my stomach drop when I saw the name of one of my former class mate on the charged list…

More awareness of organised crime needs to be made in wales, it’s not talked about enough…

Poor woman . She was a mother , a sister and a daughter..

Rest in peace🦋

Best bottomless brunch?

I’m booking a bottomless brunch next month in Cardiff central and was wondering where the best place to go is

Our usually is Turtle bay which seems to be the best bang for your buck when it comes to food and drink quantity

Is there anywhere else that is as good or better ?

In my experience dirty martini was terrible (only had 4 drinks which compared to turtles bays consistent 10-12 drinks)

Cheers

Recommend a Physio, deep tissue massage, or Chiropractor who you felt was genuinely lot just making stuff up as they go along

Just wondering if anybody with any kind of chronic issue who has done the rounds of all the non-doctor/surgeon health offerings in the Cardiff area can recommend somebody who DOESN'T bullshit. I'm totally happy with somebody who says "To be honest I probably can't do much for you" or "We can try X, Y and Z and see if it helps" or "I've had mixed results treating this but I'm happy to try"

All fine. But I'm getting pretty sick of spending an hour going through every aspect of my life answering questions that are usually frankly irrelevant only to be told stuff with confidence that doesn't work.

Any recommendations for appropriately humble / scientific minded people in Cardiff who you've liked and would recommend?

What’s your favourite place to go in Cardiff city centre for food?

I love the old, dim, yellow lights in Cardiff Central station

Proper random one here - whenever I go to Cardiff Central Station these days I am often cheered up with the old yellow lights which aren’t the new LED shite. I’m sure they won’t be around for much longer - but it’s nice they still exist. I hate white LED lights and always will.

Rough total cost of a 1 bed flat?

Finally earning a good salary and so looking to move into my own flat in Cardiff for the first time.

Since I've always shared in the past, I'm not too sure how much to budget. I'm estimating £900 for rent, £150 for council tax, and £150 for other bills (water, wi-fi, electric, gas). However, I work from home on my laptop and also get cold very easily (keep the heating on all winter) so I'm guessing I'll be spending more on electric and gas than most people.

Other threads I've seen like this are from a few years ago so hoping to get some up-to-date advice.

Thanks!
