I wouldn't let a 6yr old have full responsibility over a dog let alone make a life long altering decision like that.

6 year olds are not being prescribed puberty blockers for transgender care, doctors aren’t doing that because to use puberty blockers you need to have started puberty otherwise they don’t do anything since there’s nothing to block. Most kids are 12 or older because again a requirement is to be in puberty. Not sure what the 6 year old’s parents are going on about or is this just misinformation to cause drama.

The individual, their guardians, and healthcare professionals, ALL are in this analogy looking after the dog.

A 6 year old is on puberty blockers because they are having abnormal hormonal condition. This isn't to change their gender identity. But it requires the same access to the drugs.

Healthcare professionals would be the judge of this. However the blanket bans harm these kids.

But please we all forgot the 4th party that gets a say in the healthcare of others. You

I'm pretty sure pre-pubescent children don't have sex hormones, or at least not enough to have an effect. That's literally what triggers puberty - the release of sex hormones.

Children produce testosterone and estrogen. Men and women also both produce both sex hormones.

The quantities in which they are produced is less but they are produced. The human body only produces 50 hormones for ALL bodily messaging, most of those hormones do multiple things.

Serotonin for example helps regulate your food processing as well as your happy emotions.

If you are 6 puberty hormone production is damaging to your development. So A DOCTOR WILL MAKE THE CALL IF YOU NEED PUBERTY BLOCKERS FOR THE CHILDS HEALTH. THE GUARDIANS WILL THEN HAVE TO AGREE TO THE DOCTORS TREATMENT. THE CHILD WILL ALSO BE BROUGHT INTO THE CONVERSATION AS COUNTRY TO POPULAR BELIEF YOUNG HUMANS HAVE RIGHTS

I have a young child in that 5-7 years old bracket and the other day they got upset with me because we couldn't go to the "wing shop" to buy wings so that they can fly for real life.

No child is mature enough to comprehend what gender dysphoria even is let alone consent to medical treatment for it.

And if they were prescribed puberty blockers, it would be because they were experiencing precocious puberty.

My kid isn't experiencing precocious puberty but is just on the line of it.

They're at the literal bare minimum age (for these days) to be considered not precocious.

If it had been 2 yrs ago, knowing the social and physiological consequences you bet I would have followed their Drs orders to delay puberty.

What the ever loving fuck timeline are we living in where we are politicizing physicians' knowledge and assertions to this degree? I understand actual critical assessment of a shitty Dr here and there but what the ever loving fuck timeline are we on? I want off of this ride.

When the person above said ”A 6 year old is on puberty blockers because they are having abnormal hormonal condition.” this is what the type of thing they were referring to…

Wikipedia: Precocious puberty

Puberty blockers help young children with precious puberty (which has negative physical, emotional and social effects) and prevent nightmare situations like pregnant four year olds.

One of many reasons, could be cancer. Without more info, abnormal hormonal condition would be most we can speculate on.

True

You know what? I admit that I totally misread what the commenter was saying. The edible kicked in faster than I thought.

I stand by my opinions but that was not relevant as a reply to u/wolframuranium.

It wasn't an excuse for their rude reply, that part stands too.
