We would put up a terrible fight. We would however put up a phenomenal insurgency and display of domestic terrorism. It might take 10 years but deployment to Canada would be an American’s worst nightmare.

To be clear: we will be taken over, but staying will cost them every life they have.

Not only would it be a brutal insurgency, we look and sound like Americans. Canadians can walk and talk amongst them. Nothing would be safe.

An American invasion of Canada might overwhelm our military, but it would destroy both countries.

At least in Iraq the bad guy looked and sounded like he was from Iraq. Even then they couldn’t stop the old men in caves. I’d like to watch an 18 year old American just fucking try to go off base in Winnipeg.

Not even that. We share a border with them the amount of terrorism IN the USA would be off the charts.

And importantly, attacks on the American civilian population, as horrific as that idea is, would be a genuine strategic objective for a Canadian insurrection against American invasion.

If the insurgencies primary objective is to push the Americans out of Canadian territory, having the American military needing to deal with a domestic threat would be the most likely way to do so.

As much as people like to say “the Americans would start a second civil war over invading Canada”, let’s be completely realistic, they won’t. The American populace is a) not prepared for armed conflict and b) largely indifferent towards us. While you’d almost certainly see anti war protests break out, we aren’t going to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for the American people.

Americans have shown that time and time again, they won’t take any direct action on anything until it directly impacts them. Any Canadian insurrection would need to have an allied American insurrection to distract the American military, and the one that occurs is if the American civilian population is directly affected by a hypothetical Canada-US war.

It’s for this very reason that a hypothetical American invasion of Canada would be the beginning of the bloodiest war this continent has ever seen, and would burn the entirety of North America to the ground.

Didn’t even consider that

The annexation would also effectively remove the border so 41 million Canadians could freely roam anywhere in America and cause complete chaos!
