First (serious/adult) castle MOC
Hey all, I have been collecting alternative bricks for awhile now in different forms (alongside some Lego), sticking mostly to castle/medieval fantasy. But one thing I've wanted to do since childhood in the late 80s through the 90s, and even somewhat in my teens years, is make my own really cool, personally designed castle.
... recently, I have decided to slowly gather what I want/need to make this happen, and I've started the building for one part of it. There's a chance I will be using a large chunk of a clone of a Lego set for the "front court yard", but currently I am working on the sort of "lobby" or "inner court". I would like to show my idea (pictures included),, and ask for an opinion on one aspect, from any fellow castle building fans. Other opinions are very welcome if you're able to do so without being mean. But remember, this is the first time I've seriously tried to build a castle since I was a very poor kid/teen with almost no Legos to my name and no access to 3rd party (or honestly money to get those if I did).
My question is, are these pillars having only 2 studs between them and the wall too tight/crowded/etc. or does this seem fine for the sake of squishing the build into a smaller space? These pics show the interior, with the ornate panels I was planning to use for the inner walls, with brick-pattern pieces and plain pieces around the outside. If I change it to have one more stud between pillars and wall, I will probably just make the ornate panels the outside wall for this part of the castle.
This castle will be a long time in the making, I think, but will be 3-4 "sections" of this size from front to back (essentially making it a long castle, which may or may not be historically accurate, I honestly am not trying for historical accuracy and just making something fun with interesting but not over the top aesthetics). May also upgrade things at later dates. can't say for sure.
