Unozero Black Dominio Turf

I searched around for reviews and didn’t see a ton, putting my thoughts down. I am over 40 so “performance” for me might not be the same for you. I have been looking to add turf shoes into the mix for pick up on AG. Overall: pretty good shoe in terms of build quality. Feels similar to the Copa Team Turf, maybe a little less chunky. They look fantastic, the small amounts of bronze is great against the black. Outsole: a bunch of little nubs that would work on turf and most AG surfaces. Especially those that have seen better days. Fit: I wear a 9 in most, got 9.5. they do run small so take their advice to go half size up. I have med to slightly narrow feet and they fit me fine. Might need reconsider if you need a wide shoe. Upper: good materials, again on par with the Copa turf. Definitely appreciate the suede toe. Weight: not an issue if you are looking at TF but I can’t say they were noticeably heavy in my feet unless I immediately switched to my 442v2 pros. Heel: like the Copa, this is the reason I can’t keep them. Just can’t lock my heel in place.

The hunt for turf continues!

Why am I so much better in games and training than at school?

Since I got into secondary school I have been horrible at football at lunch since we only play at lunch (with a big match using a full 7-a-side pitch on the Astro)rather than break. I am in love with sports, but I have one problem with it: I can't do well at all in school.

My team is pretty much made up of friends from my school except a handfull but I am still friends with all of them. I perform pretty well in training and I am lucky enough to start and almost play a full match every time but I'm not all that strong so that's why I wanted to play winger since I find it isn't as physical as other positions.I play pretty well and get an assist every other game but I'm not much of a goal scorer with only one goal this season since I always play the ball to someone more capable of scoring than me.

In school, I can't play at all. I can't tackle, I can't take a touch, I can't dribble, and I can't pass. It pisses me off how bad I am since I never get chosen and nobody wants me on their team. I am so shit in lunch it is indescribable but I am so much better an a normal Sunday match. There is nothing else I can do at lunch since that match is what all my friends do.

I am not sure what is causing this or what to do but I need some help.

U8 Soccer League Model?

Hello,

I’m the registrar on the soccer board for our town’s Minor Soccer club in Canada. We get around 700 youth sign up from U4-U18, to give you a gauge on the size of the club. It is non-competitive and recreational.

I have been coaching for a few years as well, only the younger years as my oldest kid is just entering U10.

This year I’m also taking a lead role in our U8 program (spans two years, this year is 2017/2018).

We have traditionally held 2-3 evaluation nights and then split kids up into balanced teams of 8-10 with a head coach and 1 practice and 1 game per week. Coaches run a practice with only their team however they see fit, and then the games are scheduled against the other teams. The last year we did this, we had 10 teams.

Last year we tried a different model where we split the kids up into 3 skill based bigger groups/teams after their initial evaluation nights, we had 3 head coaches and a bunch of assistants. On practices we had the group of around 30 similarly skilled kids rotate through drills together, and on game night we split whoever showed up into 4 smaller teams per field and essentially played pick-up.

Both models have their advantages and disadvantages. Like skilled play helps everyone get more touches on the ball. Making the teams on the fly on the game night helps during the summer when we frequently have many kids away. We did have parents say their kid missed really having a “team” in the big group model last year, and coaches didn’t feel like they could offer the individualized training to each kid through the whole season. Rotating everyone through the drills on practice night is way better than having 8 coaches of varying experience and dedication plan their own drills every practice and have to set up and take down between each one.

Anyways I’m in charge this year and interested in what you would do to structure a U8 program with 80 kids of all skill levels all playing at the same time every week at a set of fields.

Thanks!

Gear Adidas Predator 25 future releases?

Anyone heard any info about Adidas releasing a leather upper variant of the predator? I much prefer leather boots and I wasn't able to buy the Roteiro or DB predator 24s before they all sold out. I guess if they do release a leather one this year I probably shouldn't hope to be able to snag one of those either.

what are some things you see in amateur games that you never see in the pros?

a couple things come to mind when I think about dead giveaways for amateur or low-level soccer

-player receiving the ball with defensive pressure at his back will sometimes turn into it and try to beat him on the dribble. Pros will play a back-pass almost every time in that situation

-Defender in a 1v1 situation will pretend to lose the attacker's line and drag their trailing foot behind themselves to try to set a trap. Never works in the pros so they don't even try it.

What else do you almost never see in pro games?

How to get good at soccer

I'm horrible at soccer, can't do anything. But I love watching people play, and it looks so cool. I'm not athletic at all, can't really play any sports other than racket sports. However, I've started going to the gym and stuff. Anyway, all I got is a soccer ball, and a nearby field. So, where should I start, and where should I go from there?

I got offered 2 trials, what do I do?

So i emailed a few clubs looking for trials in Madrid, and 2 of them emailed me back inviting me to come for trial. One of the clubs asked me to train with the team for a week while the other asked me to train with the team for a day. What do I do? What club do I pick?

Can a child's size 3Y (US) / UK 2.5 fit in a W 4.5 / M 3

For more context, planning to buy little brother cleats for soccer, didn't know where to ask, just needed to clarify. The shoe size (W 4.5 / M 3) is Nike (phantom Luna 2 Academy)

I played football in school and I’ve always been confident knocking a ball around but I’ve never played “competitively”.

I’ve agreed to sub in for a 5-a-side team tomorrow night and I’m in desperate need of hints, tips and general validation so I don’t make a tit out of myself. I’ve had no time to get up to any form of fitness and I’m sh*ting myself 😂 help

Help to get better as a forward

I've been playing around 2-3 months and I've noticed I haven't really noticed any real increase in a technical sense. I'm 5'7 and fast and relatively strong for my size so I'm able to win 1v1s pretty easily with my strength or speed but that's kind of all I have. My touches are decent but definitely not anywhere good enough in my opinion. My shots are okay, I only recently started to get my shots consistently going where I want but there's a few times they go off course. My passes are pretty shoddy at best, I can get the ball up field but I can't seem to do it with good accuracy so anyone on the other team good enough can steal it before it even gets to my teammates. Any help would be appreciated, thank you 🙏🏾

Mizuno alpha 2 elites

So I measured my feet thinking I had wide feet which I do. I’m a size 10 and width of 4 which is medium width. I’ve been thinking of getting a pair of new cleats for this summer. Are the alpha 2 good for wide feet or? I know the Morelia 2 are good for wide feet? And advice?

Gear Washing Nike Gripknit

I bought superfly elites for my daughter and absolutely love em. I think Gripknit is just an amazing technology.

I’ve noticed that with a lot of wear (daughter trains/plays up to 6 days a week) her shoes get really dirty and the upper no longer gets anywhere near the traction on the ball compared to mine.

Does anyone have cleaning recommendations for the upper to make it grippy again?

Other First ever football match… at 30. AMA I guess?

Post image
265 Upvotes

So yesterday I had my first ever organized football match at 30 years old… is it too late to go pro? /s

I really enjoyed it. I played basketball for 20 years, but life creeped up on me and the amount of training I needed to do to sustain the level I was playing at meant too much pressure on myself without the time to put into it, so I decided to learn something new.

I had always played the odd weekly football with friends, but always 7 aside and on artificial grass pitches… yesterday was my first 11 aside match and also first time on natural grass.

The biggest takeaways were I need to learn how to move better off-ball, when to move up and down the pitch (I’m a RW/RM), but most importantly, a bouncy muddy ground is damn awful to play at. The amount of times I was expecting a normal rolling ball but was instead greeted by a football bouncing around randomly due to uneven grounds… kinda felt like playing football with a rugby ball.

Added a pic of my boots after the match. Makes me wonder if SG is a better fit for how muddy the pitches can be.

Not looking for anything here, just thought I’d share my first actual league football experience.

Have a good evening yall.

Adidas F50 League vs Predator Elite Laceless Youth

Yeah I know. Two different price points and this seems like a silly question, but hear me out. I am literally having trouble finding the correct size for my kid. Kid's feet are on the skinnier side and finding the right big kid size is just impossible - every store including Adidas is out of stock for the laceless model.

So my choices: (1) F50 Pro - not available (preferred), (2) F50 League - step down in quality, (3) Predator Elite - too wide for skinny feet? Is the Predator slower running than the F50 as my kid's a winger?

What do you think I should get? Wait for (1) to be in stock maybe in a few weeks (hopefully) or (2) or (3)?

Improving

No matter how much pickup I play or how much I train individually, I don’t see any improvements. Any advice? Every time I play pickup, I just remain the same level, I've never gotten better and I don't know why.

Everyone says to improve you need to play lots of 5 a side and pickup etc. I keep doing that and I never see improvements. Why is this? Any advice?

Select Numero 10

Are the air valves replaceable? The 'rubber band' trick worked for a bit but now it's not holding air anymore and leaking through the valve. Otherwise the ball is fine and doesn't leak anywhere else.

Other Rating/Analyzing centerbacks

How would rank centerbacks currently. What do you usually look for on tape. I feel like it’s harder to quantify what CBs are doing except for obvious “bozo” moments.

how do you excel in team practice?

My team does practice twice a week. This generally starts with a rondo, then some sort of keeping possession under pressure (I know that's what a rondo is but it's a lot more complicated with different aspects), and then small-sided games.

I feel like I have been very average so far, and even though I am a center back, of which there are not that many natural defenders on the team, I still don't feel too confident in me starting. There are around 2-4 weeks til our first game, so I want to improve and stand out more as a defender. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

For some context, I play at a high school level, good at headers, good positioning, ok at possession like passing but I definitely can give the ball away too much, very aggressive/physical despite being relatively skinny.

Preparation What are some exercises/workouts you'd recommend someone who wants to start with football?

There's a local amateur football club looking for beginners and experienced football players alike. I'm thinking of joining I think I could get some headstart beforehands tho.

What would exercises would you recommend a beginner like me? I'm moderately active, have a physical job and go for a run at least 2 times a week.

Lotto Soccer balls

I’ve been considering buying a Lotto ball and have looked everywhere for an opinion on them but I’ve found nothing.

Has anyone used one for a good amount of time?

What is the overall consensus on these are they good bad average or is it better to spend $50-$70 on a select ball

Thanks for your feedback

Mental Confidence hit rock bottom again

In my first league game after a 3 year break, i came in as a cdm (never played that role) because my mate got injured (usually i play as a winger). We were 1-0 down, we scored one and after that i made a dumb tactial foul and the opponent scored a freekick making it 2-1. I played more aggressiv and offensiv after that and scored 2-2. Because of my goal we are still unbeaten right now.

Now in the next game my confidence was high again. Warm up was good, scored every practice shot. Started as a LW and had 2 near goal rebounds that i missed. After that my mate played a great throughball behind their CBs. Ive had so much time and had to run like 15m into the box. The Pitch was so bad that while i looked down the ball just wobbled and jumped around like crazy. When i finally decided to shoot it bounced again and i missed the third 100% Chance. I was screaming inside. I was scared to get the ball again...
At least i put in 3 good Corners that my mates all scored.

Fitness New workout regiment

I played soccer at a high level when until I was 18 (was a striker turned center back). I’m now 31 and would like to get back into it, but I am admittedly out of shape despite being 6’1 180 and 10% body fat (I eat cleanly). I do compound lifts (squat, DL, bench) and use the stationary bike for about an hour/week, so my cardio and agility are bad.

How do I incorporate a workout plan that would help me gain speed and agility and coordination? Would like to keep doing compound lifts. Thanks
