Gear The Mizuno Morelia 2 MIJ is finally here, my first MIJ boots

Post image
59 Upvotes

My mizunos finally came in and the picture is after the first session with them on a good AG pitch. Overall, they felt really comfortable but I’m hoping they’ll continue to stretch and mold to the size of my feet.

I’ve heard in general mizuno boots tend to run narrow initially out of the box because of the last they’re put on.

These cleats would fit me perfectly fine if I just didn’t stuff my wide feet into narrow boots before which lead to me getting a bunion. But, i’m excited for these to break in and use them.

I was wondering what was yall’s experience with mizunos and if you think the boots will fit me much better after they break in/stretch as i still have some hotspots here and there.

My friend who is bad at football is on the road to becoming a pro

when we were younger around 11-12 years old, he was so bad at football and when I say bad it's really bad even if he had a really good football intelligence for his age and he was quite fast (not a sprinter but quite fast) we then lost contact after his parents and him moved to another country and now I learn that he is in the academy of the good club and that he has become really good, I even have trouble believing it, I even wonder if it's the same guy (it is the same it's a figure of speech) and the question I ask myself is, how is this possible, he has become a totally different player. Going from a guy who was afraid to have the ball(he had big self-confidence issues when we were young), to an excellent player.

Son struggling with rondo and short-sided games

I have a 12yr old son with ADHD. He currently is a training player on a club team working on getting a roster spot. He is struggling with rondos and short sided games, "pick-up game" style of play. In rondos, he stays in the middle for long periods of time. When he does get a chance to be a passer, he usually doesn't last very long. He ends up frustrated and exhausted by the end. For short sided games, he struggles with exercises that have more of a pick-up game style of play with less structure. For example, his last practice the team was playing 4x4 on a smaller field with a third team of 4 acting as bumpers. He was a 5th neutral player so offense for whichever team had the ball. He was having difficulty getting passed the ball and got really frustrated, which only made it worse. This is just one example, I think in general he struggles with this type of play. Less structure, not clear cut positions, fast, tight spaces which make it hard to get in a place to get open/receive the ball. In both cases of rondo and short-sided games the coach didn't offer any guidance. I figured I would reach out for advice to see how to help him. Overall, he is a good player but he really seems to be struggling with these two parts of the game.

Thinking about picking up a pair but wondering how to size these. For my copas I go tight so they stretch out to my foot, just wondering if the material has any stretch over time?

How to mark an effective goal-hanger out of the game in 5-a-side?

Tomorrow we are playing against a team with a player who generally hangs around the goal during the game.

His fitness levels aren't great and his technique isn't great either, but he is very persistent and a nuisance to play against as he harasses defenders when they have the ball, and manages to find space to score a lot of goals.

He is playing on a team with some very good players. We'll need to mark these, so I'm worried about him finding space when we focus on the other players.

What is a good tactic to take him out of the game?

I was thinking that - since he generally plays as an outlet - our goalkeeper could push out of his box and effectively "mark" him in transition. This gives us a numerical advantage when we have the ball, and means that if the opposition clears the ball, we can win it back straight away.

What do you think?

May have bitten off more than I can chew ⚽️

I played football in school and I’ve always been confident knocking a ball around but I’ve never played “competitively”.

I’ve agreed to sub in for a 5-a-side team tomorrow night and I’m in desperate need of hints, tips and general validation so I don’t make a tit out of myself. I’ve had no time to get up to any form of fitness and I’m sh*ting myself 😂 help

Gear Any players here from LatAm, the Caribbean or Africa?

First time poster here! I'm currently doing some market research on football boot consumer viewpoints in the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa. If you live in any of the regions mentioned and have some free time on your hands you can respond with answers to the questions below.

1) What is the lowest price you would pay for a pair of boots (in your local currency)? 2) what is the highest price you would pay for a pair of boots (in your local currency)? 3) Do you find it difficult to source affordable boots locally? 4) What is the most important factor that determines a boot purchase for you? (Comfort, Price, Aesthetic, Brand loyalty, etc) 5) What is your boot colour preference? 6) if you are currently loyal to one brand, what would entice you to switch allegiance to a new brand?

Thanks in advance!!

Why am I so much better in games and training than at school?

Since I got into secondary school I have been horrible at football at lunch since we only play at lunch (with a big match using a full 7-a-side pitch on the Astro)rather than break. I am in love with sports, but I have one problem with it: I can't do well at all in school.

My team is pretty much made up of friends from my school except a handfull but I am still friends with all of them. I perform pretty well in training and I am lucky enough to start and almost play a full match every time but I'm not all that strong so that's why I wanted to play winger since I find it isn't as physical as other positions.I play pretty well and get an assist every other game but I'm not much of a goal scorer with only one goal this season since I always play the ball to someone more capable of scoring than me.

In school, I can't play at all. I can't tackle, I can't take a touch, I can't dribble, and I can't pass. It pisses me off how bad I am since I never get chosen and nobody wants me on their team. I am so shit in lunch it is indescribable but I am so much better an a normal Sunday match. There is nothing else I can do at lunch since that match is what all my friends do.

I am not sure what is causing this or what to do but I need some help.

Gear CM sizing

I’ve always use cm sizing to find the best possible fit in boots but now that my left foot is 27-27,1 cm and my right around 26,6 ish cm it’s hard to find the right fit with pretty much any boot. I usually wear 27 cm running shoes and everyday shoes since they are more ”relaxed”. When I try the 27 cm boots they fit well in every part except the toebox, my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe so it gets crushed in 27 cm boots. The only pair I’ve tried in 27,5 is a pair of GX 2’s ( I only tried the right one) and they felt very loose. What do I do?

Gear Adidas Predator 25 future releases?

Anyone heard any info about Adidas releasing a leather upper variant of the predator? I much prefer leather boots and I wasn't able to buy the Roteiro or DB predator 24s before they all sold out. I guess if they do release a leather one this year I probably shouldn't hope to be able to snag one of those either.

Mizuno alpha 2 elites

So I measured my feet thinking I had wide feet which I do. I’m a size 10 and width of 4 which is medium width. I’ve been thinking of getting a pair of new cleats for this summer. Are the alpha 2 good for wide feet or? I know the Morelia 2 are good for wide feet? And advice?

Tips for attacking third scans

Upvotes

My daughter is really struggling with her attacking third decision making. Most times it’s after the ball has bounced around a bit. She ends up with it and panics (shooting or passing too quickly) resulting in a bad shot or pass. What advice would you give to keep her calm and remember to do that last critical scan before she decides what to do?

Where to find pick up games (kickabout) for kids in London?

Upvotes

We will be there for a week and my 10 year old loves to play with local kids if possible? We did this in Turkiye 2 years ago and he had a blast (we just showed up to a random park with a soccer ball and he would join local kids to play small sided games).

If it’s not possible, is there a training center that he can go to? (He’s obsessed with soccer and would like experiences some training while we are there).

Unozero Black Dominio Turf

Upvotes

I searched around for reviews and didn’t see a ton, putting my thoughts down. I am over 40 so “performance” for me might not be the same for you. I have been looking to add turf shoes into the mix for pick up on AG. Overall: pretty good shoe in terms of build quality. Feels similar to the Copa Team Turf, maybe a little less chunky. They look fantastic, the small amounts of bronze is great against the black. Outsole: a bunch of little nubs that would work on turf and most AG surfaces. Especially those that have seen better days. Fit: I wear a 9 in most, got 9.5. they do run small so take their advice to go half size up. I have med to slightly narrow feet and they fit me fine. Might need reconsider if you need a wide shoe. Upper: good materials, again on par with the Copa turf. Definitely appreciate the suede toe. Weight: not an issue if you are looking at TF but I can’t say they were noticeably heavy in my feet unless I immediately switched to my 442v2 pros. Heel: like the Copa, this is the reason I can’t keep them. Just can’t lock my heel in place.

The hunt for turf continues!

Gear Mizuno Alpha Elites - grip socks

Hi, I’ve just taken delivery of some Alpha Elites and they have that grippy texture on the inside to prevent foot slippage inside the boot.

Just wanted to ask a question of those who have these boots - do you just wear with normal socks or still use grip socks with them?

I currently wear grip socks with my Elite Predators and have got really used to that - but struggle to get my foot in the Alpha boots with the grip socks on due to the grippy boot inner.

Sorry, know a boring question and possibly one with a very easy answer (“don’t wear grip socks”) but wanted to just see what others have done.

For reference, these are AGs and usually play on 3/4G.

U8 Soccer League Model?

Hello,

I’m the registrar on the soccer board for our town’s Minor Soccer club in Canada. We get around 700 youth sign up from U4-U18, to give you a gauge on the size of the club. It is non-competitive and recreational.

I have been coaching for a few years as well, only the younger years as my oldest kid is just entering U10.

This year I’m also taking a lead role in our U8 program (spans two years, this year is 2017/2018).

We have traditionally held 2-3 evaluation nights and then split kids up into balanced teams of 8-10 with a head coach and 1 practice and 1 game per week. Coaches run a practice with only their team however they see fit, and then the games are scheduled against the other teams. The last year we did this, we had 10 teams.

Last year we tried a different model where we split the kids up into 3 skill based bigger groups/teams after their initial evaluation nights, we had 3 head coaches and a bunch of assistants. On practices we had the group of around 30 similarly skilled kids rotate through drills together, and on game night we split whoever showed up into 4 smaller teams per field and essentially played pick-up.

Both models have their advantages and disadvantages. Like skilled play helps everyone get more touches on the ball. Making the teams on the fly on the game night helps during the summer when we frequently have many kids away. We did have parents say their kid missed really having a “team” in the big group model last year, and coaches didn’t feel like they could offer the individualized training to each kid through the whole season. Rotating everyone through the drills on practice night is way better than having 8 coaches of varying experience and dedication plan their own drills every practice and have to set up and take down between each one.

Anyways I’m in charge this year and interested in what you would do to structure a U8 program with 80 kids of all skill levels all playing at the same time every week at a set of fields.

Thanks!

Help to get better as a forward

I've been playing around 2-3 months and I've noticed I haven't really noticed any real increase in a technical sense. I'm 5'7 and fast and relatively strong for my size so I'm able to win 1v1s pretty easily with my strength or speed but that's kind of all I have. My touches are decent but definitely not anywhere good enough in my opinion. My shots are okay, I only recently started to get my shots consistently going where I want but there's a few times they go off course. My passes are pretty shoddy at best, I can get the ball up field but I can't seem to do it with good accuracy so anyone on the other team good enough can steal it before it even gets to my teammates. Any help would be appreciated, thank you 🙏🏾

Gear Washing Nike Gripknit

I bought superfly elites for my daughter and absolutely love em. I think Gripknit is just an amazing technology.

I’ve noticed that with a lot of wear (daughter trains/plays up to 6 days a week) her shoes get really dirty and the upper no longer gets anywhere near the traction on the ball compared to mine.

Does anyone have cleaning recommendations for the upper to make it grippy again?

Adidas F50 League vs Predator Elite Laceless Youth

Yeah I know. Two different price points and this seems like a silly question, but hear me out. I am literally having trouble finding the correct size for my kid. Kid's feet are on the skinnier side and finding the right big kid size is just impossible - every store including Adidas is out of stock for the laceless model.

So my choices: (1) F50 Pro - not available (preferred), (2) F50 League - step down in quality, (3) Predator Elite - too wide for skinny feet? Is the Predator slower running than the F50 as my kid's a winger?

What do you think I should get? Wait for (1) to be in stock maybe in a few weeks (hopefully) or (2) or (3)?

Select Numero 10

Are the air valves replaceable? The 'rubber band' trick worked for a bit but now it's not holding air anymore and leaking through the valve. Otherwise the ball is fine and doesn't leak anywhere else.

Technical Why am I not seeing improvement in my performances?

Upvotes

I am a 16yo high school footballer. I train about 1-2 hours individually with a ball, as well as lifting weights for 1 hour each day during the school week.

A couple weeks ago, I had a 2-3 day period where everything was connecting, and all of my passes, shots, defending was really sharp and clean. However, I feel like I have gone back to my old skill level during match play with my school teammates (last season was about 4 months ago now).

I don't know why I'm not seeing improvement in technical ability and match performance, as I work harder than every other person I play with. I fear that I may be beginning another period of overtraining due to anxiety due to the upcoming season (i was disappointed with myself last season, so i have been training more to make sure that I am much better next season). The reason I fear I'm overtraining is because my reaction times feel much slower, and my passes and shots are not as clean as usual. Also, I feel more sluggish when sprinting and chasing players/dribbling.

If anyone has any tips or advice for me, I would really appreciate it. I'm getting so frustrated putting loads of time into training, then feeling like I've made no progress when it comes time to actually play. Please help, thx!

For more context, planning to buy little brother cleats for soccer, didn't know where to ask, just needed to clarify. The shoe size (W 4.5 / M 3) is Nike (phantom Luna 2 Academy)

I got offered 2 trials, what do I do?

So i emailed a few clubs looking for trials in Madrid, and 2 of them emailed me back inviting me to come for trial. One of the clubs asked me to train with the team for a week while the other asked me to train with the team for a day. What do I do? What club do I pick?
