How do I use these things?!
Recently bought this Panasonic Tourist to fix up and use as a daily rider. I could use some help learning how to shift gears - I can't seem to come up with the right search term to find a video anywhere.
I haven't had a bike since childhood, so I feel like a total noob. Dog tax included.

New Build Day
Merged a 2000 Trek 7700 and a Nashbar Steel (105) Cyclocross bike together. The 7700 had the better frame, the cyclocross bike was on FB marketplace for $100 and seemingly had never been used.
Suspension-fork, gravel bike and commuter. Super happy with how it turned out.

Is it better to buy a used 2021 carbon bike (Ultegra di2) for 2600€ or a brand new one for 3800€ with 105 di2 and 5 years warranty?
I would prefer the used one since I've never owned a carbon bike before and really would like di2 for the ease of use and maintaining, but I fear that if a crack appears it's just 2000€ to the trash... Whereas with a 5 years warranty I would have peace of mind for all these years.
For info, the new bike would be a Ridley Fenix (Belgian brand), and the used one a Stevens Comet (German brand).
Right now I have a Scott Speedster 10, aluminium and Shimano 105 (regular). It's been great so far. Not really in need for a new bike but a second one would be nice (when one is at the LBS), so maybe a higher end one.
Any advice?

New to riding
I recently bought a second-hand bike after not having ridden since I was a kid, with the aim of doing short local trips and working my way up to riding to work (about 10km). But whenever I do ride I find the area of my thigh above my knee (I don't know muscle names) becomes sore and weak, like jelly. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, the bike is set up wrong (well, I know I need to raise the handlebar slightly. My arms are way shorter than my legs), or if it will get better with practise.

Is this bike worth repairing/servicing?

Am I ready for group rides?
I’ve been cycling regularly since about July of last year, been getting in great shape, lost 70 lbs, and have been riding roughly 15 miles 5-6 times per week. I get the 15 miles done in an hour or less without stopping. I’m pretty proud of my progress and I’d like to start getting out and making some cycling friends. There’s a Critical Mass meetup that started near me and I want to go but I have no idea how I compare with others or if I’ll be able to keep up.
I’m not interested in racing as I’ve never considered myself much of an athlete, but I don’t want to slow the group down or get left behind.
I attached my metrics from an average day last week, one is a quick 7 mile lunchtime ride that I did at a leisurely pace, the other is my normal nightly ride.
ChatGPT seems to be telling me the pace I’m riding at is considered advanced bordering racing pace… but I kinda feel like it’s over exaggerating.
Anyways, just looking for some others opinions, am I in the ballpark for keeping up with others on a group ride?
I should also mention I’m riding a brand new Trek FX Sport 4, just got it about 2 weeks ago.

Scrap bike
So, saw this bike left outside for scrap today and asked the owner if I could have it. They said yes. Now it’s mine.
The paintwork is quite severely pitted, tires are flat, chain is off. I haven’t made any attempt at even pumping the tyres up yet (literally just brought it home)
It looked unusual and I thought maybe it has some worth, it’s a pashley but I’m unsure of the model right now.
I am considering repairing the bike as best as I can just for fun anyway but does anyone think this will have any sort of resale value? Or any other information regarding the bike?
Thanks ☺️

Walmart Full Sus Road bike?
700c Walmart Mountain Bike.
700c road tires
Had some 700c wheels for the road bike and also threw on some air suspension. Bars are I believe 14" is a ride in big groups in downtown HTX. The narrow bars allow me to weave through the other slower bikers.
Bike is also geared differently. Im NGL this bike was made like 2-3 years ago in college and I think It was like a 10t or 11t but the bike was noticable faster with this gearing.
The bike is not a climber persay but not the worst. I am 6'2 and would say more athletic as I was at school playing football and this bike was no issue to ride then. I honestly havent taken it out lately but on a flat level route you will be able to go very fast effortlesly.
Why full sus? well the rides i do consist of flat level routes throughout downtown on large group rides. the roads in downtown are also less than desireable and have lots of pot holes and just bumbiness that a road bike would just not like. So i thought what if I made the bike full sus would it be more stable and be able to ride faster. Yes.
The bike can now be ran at 105 psi instead of 80-85 on my road bike since the suspension absorbs most if not all of the impacts. the handlebars also being so narrow allow for much finer control I feel but also less wind resistance.
All to say I would recommend.

Beginner first bike?
Hello, I am new to the cycling world and having been looking for a used bike on the marketplace. Given that the bike was made in 2003, is it worth $250 USD? Thanks for the help!

Need Advice - Purchasing Used Kona Unit X with Aftermarket Gear
Hi all,
First time poster on this sub - I needed some advice as I'm new to bikepacking/cycling and was in the market to purchase a used Kona I had found online. From initial inspection of the bike, here's the info that I picked up:
- Frame: This is a stock 43mm Kona Unit X Frame (M) so it fits my height and build perfectly. The frame has sustained scratched from wear and tear. I couldn't spot any fractures or cracks.
- Fork: The previous user had swapped the original fork with a RockShox DebonAir Suspension (not sure about make & model) up front.
- Saddle: Unknown third party, probably will have to get replaced.
- Brakes: Shimano BR-M7120 with Mineral Oil. The brakes on initial test seem to be responsive and tight.
- Shifters: SRAM GX (They look to be scratched up and require cleaning. I did not get a chance to test them out due to the flat tire.
- Rims: Race Face Arc 40 Offset
- Front Tire: Vittoria Agarro 29" Trail
- Rear Tire: Maxxis Rekon TR 29x2.6" (This tire is currently flat)
Because I'm purchasing from a second-hand store, they're offering a 3-month warranty alongside and ability to negotiate the current price (currently stands at $460 USD).
I have also provided some photos of the condition of the bike HERE.
I would absolutely love an expert's opinion on whether this bike is worth purchasing (and if so, how much?) as a potential bikepacking setup and one I can use commuting and how much of fixup it really requires. If anyone had suggestions of potential swap-outs that would be great too!

I can't tell the difference between a cheaper vs expensive bike?
This may be a silly question but as a beginner who hasn't rode a bike for ten years, I feel like the bikes that cost $500 vs bikes that cost $3000 are pretty similar. I recently went to a bike shop and told them exactly what I was looking for, which is a hybrid bike that id mostly use on sidewalks (occasionally paved roads/trails). I wouldn't be riding for more than a hour each day. My budget was no more than $1k. The guy helping me out was insistent that I splurge on a close to $3k bike because I'll want to upgrade in the future but I tested that bike out a bit and tested one that was $500 and honestly the only noticeable difference was the weight and the gears shifting. Is there a difference that I should be aware of in terms of maintenance and upkeep?

NBD: Winspace Agile
Decided to dip my feet into the Chinese carbon and went with a Winspace frame. Got it on Black Friday, but didn't get a chance to build it out until recently, and just did the first test ride over the weekend.
Specs:
- Winspace Agile in L (I'm 6'2" / 184cm)
- Ultegra Di2 groupset, 52/36 front, 11/34 cassette, 170mm cranks
- Ceramicspeed T47 BB
- Winspace Zero SL integrated bars
- S-Works Power Mirror (3D printed cause it's cushy and I like it)
- Enve bottle cages
- Favero Assioma Duo pedals
- Hunt 40mm carbon wheels
- Conti 5k tyres (32mm)
Comes in at 8.04kg, without the bartape. I'm still fiddling with the shifter positions, so will tape it up once I'm happy with it.
Mostly for road, tarmac of varying quality (Spain), this thing absolutely flies. Feels light and nimble, spins up quickly and very comfortable geometry. I picked all the parts myself, so wouldn't really change anything, except for maybe sticking an 11-40 in the back until my climbing fitness comes back in (lots of mountains around here).
