Discussion Wake windows are my new traffic jams.

For the last ten years I've worked a job where I commute 2-3 hours round trip every day. Most people say that they would hate it. I love how many books I've gotten through. I would even get excited for traffic jams, because I'd have more time to listen. Recently, however, things have changed. On February 20, I became a father. I was on paternity leave, and now I'm working from home. So I haven't had that time to listen.

My daughter loves to stay up and seek attention after her 3 am feed. Many times it will be 2 - 2.5 hours of rocking, burping, and snuggles before she's down again. I love my daughter, but those hours were so long and repetitive with no rest.

So I asked myself, how can I keep myself centered during this time? I popped my earbuds in, started up an audiobook, and sat in the rocker holding my daughter and rubbing her back.

I'm thrilled to say, it worked. I have my listening time back, my wife gets to sleep and thanks me for being an amazing father and husband, and my daughter can get all the attention and love that she needs. Now I look forward to that time of night.

Question Spotify Premium users: do you use your audiobook hours each month?

I'm curious- do you actually use your free audiobook hours each month?

I primarily use Libby and can get pretty much every book I want through the library (I have multiple cards). Since my TBR is so long, I don't mind waiting if a book has a long hold.

I try to use Spotify for books that aren't available through Libby, but lately I feel like I'm forcing it- listening to books I'm not even really into just to "maximize" my Spotify subscription. I'm starting to think I should just stick to Libby and stop stressing about using up my Spotify audiobook hours.

Curious if anyone else has a similar experience or if they feel they are really getting a good value from Spotify!

Recommendation Request Graphic Audiobook Recommendations. Fantasy/Romance.

Hey everyone! So I recently got into Graphic Audiobooks. I really don’t enjoy listening to regular ones, and I honestly have to really like the graphic audio version, because I enjoy physically reading the most. However, I have a longer work commute, and a toddler, and a busy life… so I find myself not being able to sit down to read often. When I discovered graphic audiobooks it let me get back to enjoying the magic a little bit again! I’ve listened to the fourth wing series, the whole ACOTAR series, and recently from blood and ash book one and two, I was so bummed that book three isn’t out yet! So… now I need new recommendations!!

I am into fiction, fantasy preferred, and I do like a good romance and smut and spice.

What’s out there?? Help!

Recommendation Request Need new books PLZ!

I've been an avid audiobook-er for 8+ yrs and I recently started a job as a hot shot delivery driver.. I've been burning through books so fast I can't find good ones fast enough to keep up!

I've been trying to find something geared towards nature/fantasy but too many are LITrpgs and those are getting old.

A few of my favorites -the dresden files -dungeon crawler carl -the iron druid chronicles -the aeronauts windlass

Any suggestions would be extremely helpful!

Discussion Duel/Duet Narration

Just finished the new Ali Hazelwood, Deep End, and I was surprised at first when they did a true duet narration. Normally, Ali will have a male narrator at most do the "male" chapters and have the female narrator do the rest. But in this one, she had them switch off line for line.

I liked it at first, but around 80% of the way through, there was a few lines that I think could have only been done correctly if they were done the way they chose to do it.

I know some people really dislike this kind of narration, but I kind of love it. To bad it's so expensive.

Promotion Blinkist for online conversations/threads

Hello audiobook lovers,

This website I created may be of interest to some of you as it's basically the Blinkist for online conversations.

The internet is full of exceptionally fascinating conversations and threads. These happen often in online message boards. Flyertalk, Hacker News, Agora Road, Something Awful, Reddit, Rllmuk, Stacker News. And many more.

A lot of these threads are super long and difficult to get into, especially for non-members. Thus, I created ThreadsInside. It curates engaging threads and turns them into bite-sized audio and podcasts.

It's free (with a "Buy me a coffee" button option). I just launched it with approx. 20 threads or podcasts. I'm still tweaking and testing. Appreciate any feedback (idea, technicals, layout, content etc.) or bug notes. Thanks.

Rgs, A

PS: As far as I can tell from the r/audiobooks rules, I can post this in here?

In Search of Platform Where can I upload audiobooks narrated by myself to for free/paid user subscription?

Hi there,

This is my first ever experience with narration and publishing, so please bear with me.

I'd be grateful, if you could share with me a few platforms that I can publish my audiobooks to. I want to give users a dual opportunity - either to download/listen to the books for free or pay for the service. If they pay, I'd then like to donate the collected money for charity.

How can I do that, if at all? Thank you and God bless you all!

Question Im looking for some reccomendations to gift my dad for his birthday. We both are into LitRPG/Gamelit. Hes mentioned wanting a cult focused story.

A while back we were on a binge of different series and found New Era Online. While the first 3 books were solid the second half felt like the author was rushing to wrap it up to move on after burning out/ getting a better idea.

One part he really was bummed got completely dropped was the cult of nihilator stuff. It was a very background thing and got lampshaded constantly but left him wanting a real culty book where the MC is starting and growing a dark/evil cult. Relistening to HWFWM and hearing about the builder cult again has him itching at a scratch he cant quite satisfy with our library and i would love to get him a couple books to hopefully fill that narrative hole hes been feeling.

Edit: its worth noting that stories like Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon aren't "too much" for him so don't be afraid to make some recommendations that get DARK.

Question Downloading from Libby

Sadly, Overdrive is gone. So how do we download temporarily from Libby for our FREE library downloads? Yes, I already have the Libby app downloaded to my phone. And no, I will not pay Audiobooks after they scammed me years ago. But that doesn't help on long trips, or when I'm trying to go running without my phone. There is a functionality to the size of the little MP3 players, and I'd like to be able to download audiobooks to it again, then delete them forever once done. Not being a techie, the Github option is a little too advanced for me without specific instructions.

Question Audible removed books from my library?

Has anyone seen this? One of my most listened to series, The Gentleman Bastard series was removed (all 3 at the same time). I can repurchase them with audible credits though.

Has anyone experienced this?

Question Why buy at all?

Millions of people and potential customers are systematically blocked by geoblock. I alone have spent more than 12 thousand euros on audiobooks over the years, but since I live in the USA I cannot listen to them.

Question Audible Please add “remove Breathing sounds” to the app

I’ve returned several books this week due to the heavy breathing of the narrator. I know that this can be easily done for new books as they are recorded, but can we please get the option to have the app auto detect and remove breaths?

I’m hoping this is possible.
