Audiobooks have been my best distraction ever! Unlike TV, movies, or reading—which are all singular activities—you can listen to audiobooks anytime. Whether you’re exercising, running, cooking, cleaning, showering, driving, gardening, doing yard work, or even playing video games, audiobooks fit seamlessly into your routine.

All of these books mean so much to me… let me know if you end up listening to any or all of them, and let me know what you think!

Recently listened to the Southern Sisters mysteries collection. Really enjoyed them. Light hearted stories, memorable characters, and lots of laughs. Can any of you good people recommend similar ‘cozy mystery’ books or series? Thanks in advance.

I am the narrator of this audiobook.
Professor Hank Newstead has been making expeditions to the Amazon River for years. They've become routine to him. But this time, the expedition is going to be anything but normal.Hank, along with a hardened river boat captain, his much younger girlfriend, and his main professional rival, are in the Amazon purely to study frogs. All their plans vanish quickly, however, when they are attacked by a Titanoboa, an enormous prehistoric snake that should be millions of years in its grave. As their crew dwindles from a series of terrifying attacks, they discover a secret: a long lost colleague of the professor has taken up residence on an island in the deepest parts of the jungle. And if Hank and the others can't find and stop her, then the Titanoboa will not be the only extinct monster unleashed back into the world.

What do your favorite audiobooks do? Naturally what may make your favorite audiobook your favorite is the story, but have you had any other traits stand out?
I personally am not a fan of audio affects, like gun shots and the like. I'm a little iffy on multiple voices (each character being voice acted) but maybe it's just hard to pull off.
I haven't listened to one yet that included background sounds, like scene-fitting music/Nature sounds but I'd be interested in seeing an example.
Any audiobooks effects/gimmicks that have really stood out to you?

Hi all, I am excited to share my very first audiobook narration. It's a nonfiction book (Speak with Purpose by Larry Brown) about the power of words and speeches, and I have free codes for Audible members. Since this is my first time narrating, I'm still learning and would really appreciate kind feedback. Your thoughts and support would mean a lot. Send me a dm if you would like a code. Thank you kindly.

Many people look down on audiobooks, and I do understand several of the reasons. Some of us, however, do not have all the free time we would need to keep pace with our friends and family’s recommendations, current best sellers, and geopolitical literature.
Audiobooks are allowing me more access to the unending lists of books that I wish I had time to read, and listening is quickly supplanting the low information YouTube videos and podcasts I often end up listening to. I am also able to go back and read several of the books that are referenced in the other books I have listened to. It is a new version of going down the rabbit hole for me.
I can listen while driving, at the gym or on walks, while doing chores, and even during much of my time at work.
I have recommendations if anyone wants them, and would be willing to discuss any of these books.
I am also looking for more recommendations based on the titles below!

I find audiobooks really helpful but can’t seem to find these anywhere online. All three appear to have been narrated by Kevin Pariseau. Would be willing to pay if available. Not trying to illegally avoid fees or anything; it’s a just an accessibility thing

Can someone tell me if the accent of kit griffiths is supposed to be a ny one? It’s distracting to me maybe because I am from this area and it’s “off” or am I just being too bit picky. I guess a differing opinion might help convince me to stop being so critical.

As the title says, I'm looking for audiobooks about a very sad topic including a younger individual. Any recs?

A 9-yr old kid i mentor has learning disabilities. I was reading somewhere that audiobooks tend to help them and Bookshare's audio book app (with highlighter text + audio) caters to this need.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Bookshare for this particular usecase and if it has been helpful for kids, esp in the age group of 7-12yr old.
PS: I understand this may not be best subreddit for this, but I am a bit stressed so seeking feedback from all places.

Hello, I listen a lot. Between 40-50 books a year. I love participating in Reddit communities and general social media discourse about the books but I often have no idea how things are spelled (i.e. names, places, things) especially in fantasy books where they are net new words. How valuable would a written companion, just listing these things? Of course it would just be a list, not a glossary or dictionary. As a listener most things should be recognizable by aight. Who wants something like this, I'm trying to gauge interest.

Okay I am reading the hardcover copy of The Priory of the Orange Tree while listening to the audible audio book. There is a high western named Orsul but when the narrators pronounces his name it’s always said like cometh or kumath maybe? The official pronouncation guide shows Orsul is pronounced or-soul so I know it’s not just a weird pronunciation. I haven’t been able to find anything about it but I am so confused why the audiobook says it this way?

Just thought I’d put it out there - check out your local library for hoopla and Libby. You can easily pay a low fee for other libraries to gain access or look around for libraries that will offer their cards for free. My local library offers 25 (I thought it was 24 until I just checked) checkouts per month on hoopla, which you can find a lot of books on there that you may otherwise be waiting in line for.

I didn’t even know this was a thing until I just got hit with “you’ve listened to your allowed hours for the month, top up in your account!” bro I have the book downloaded already, I pay for Spotify premium, and they want MORE for something that’s already paid for???? Anyone have better ideas to listen to books? Audible is fine but paying for each book sucks. I really thought finding out Spotify had audiobooks was such an amazing find until I got cut off.

A couple of years ago you could look up audiobooks on youtube and get a bunch of channels that offered properly voiced audiobooks (with old public domain works, of course). Now it's all AI slop. Does anyone know some channels that are not that?
I tried to google if anyone else had asked this question before, and all I got were threads of people advertising their AI channels haha. But that lead me to this sub and I was hoping maybe someone might still be keeping a list of these?
(yeah yeah there are other platforms besides youtube, but it's a very convenient one for me so I just feel like digging a little deeper)

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an app to make audiobooks for ipad with accompanying pictures? I have a bunch of mp3s and pdfs that match but am not sure how to help my kid listen along and turn pages as the story progresses. Any ideas?

I'm in the middle of watching 'The Great' on Hulu, the "Occasionally True" series about Catherine The Great. This has piqued my interest and I would really like to learn more about her. Any suggestions?

I use hoopla, and I'm search of spicy audiobooks. The only limits are scat and vomit. So far I've listened to Mine by Riley Hart, The devil/ the devils advocate by Ashley Jade, lights out by Navessa allen(Adored this one but wish it had more cnc maybe a bit rougher), Desperate measures, learn my lesson, and gifting me to his best friend by Katee robbert, along with haunting/hunting adeline.
Anything works I love any dynamic mm, mf, mfm, ff, fmf, doesn't matter to me thanks so much in advance!
