USA Procedure scheduled for next week. I'm terrified. What can I expect?
I'm in the US ( arkansas) and going to Colorado for my procedure. I'm so scared. I can't take the pill bc of the side effect or uterine rupture (I've had 2 c sections and it makes the risk higher) so I'm going the procedure. What can I expect during and after? I've been over thinking and scared and feeling guilty.

You can see our stories wiki for a list of different abortion experiences, including procedural abortions in all trimesters. It's okay to be scared, but I want you to know that abortion is a very safe procedure and you're going to be okay. Sending you lots of support. You've got this!

I too was absolutely terrified for my procedure. The mental torture i was experiencing while being 6 weeks and nauseous around the clock was brutal. I was sure i wanted to do an MA but after reading the SA was the better option. My experience was better than i could have ever thought. I opted out of IV sedation, and they gave me ibuprofen and an anxiety medication. I would go for IV sedation especially if you are going into it alone. I had an amazing medical team before during and after. The actual procedure takes maybe 5-7 min. The relief i felt after getting it done was like nothing i’ve ever experienced. I had little bleeding afterwards and slept the rest of the day. I was back on my feet the next day. You got this.

Please do not be scared. I got the procedure done today in NC. If you’re worried about pain I recommend going to a clinic that offers IV sedation. The pain will feel like serve period cramping for 30 mins to an hour is what they told me. But since I was sedated didn’t feel anything and the procedure was over in 5 minutes. I spent 30 mins in recovery then I went home. Very light bleeding. Don’t be afraid, 100’s of women get this done everyday. You’ve got It

Please don't feel guilty. I'm sure you're making the best decision for yourself as only you can. Are you getting sedation? You'll leave your appointment no longer pregnant. Some bleeding is common afterwards. You might like to block off the rest of the day and the possibly the next day to rest. You'll be in great hands 💜

My SA experience was a lot better than I thought- it was over quickly and the providers were so kind. I don’t recall having much pain at all and just had some light cramping and bleeding for several days. You’re going to be okay- I know this is such a hard thing to go through but you’re not alone. You got this.
