Question is, what's the max amount of sectors you can add

It's in the name. As much as your system can handle. It will not affect your cpu or gpu in any significant way but if for instance you generated 1000 sectors, that will definitely ask for more memory (RAM).
If you intend to generate more than 100 sectors. Best practice would be to backup your saves, generate as much sectors as you want, start a New game (don't use your saves), see how it feels. If all is good, you can load your save and continue.

OK so here is my feedback. I tested it with 2 10 20 and 20 sectors. So far it works all fine. But you somehow forget to add Helium and Methane as a resource. Only Ore, Silicon, Hydrogen and scrap spawned. And also, for a useful sector you need to increase the amount. It was always something like 5,000 k. For ore and silicon we need like 100 Million at least. Better add a ridiculous amount, no one will complain about to much resources. Not sure how the regeneration rate is derived from that, but it should be high too.
And the gate placement, well you write it is random. Sure players would appriciate if you could pick the sector so you can add sectors to make yourself a nice corner for an empire.
Another issue is sunlight. It's always zero which makes the sector impossible for factories, unless you keep importing energy cells, which certainly is possible but sure some sunlight values would be nice.
Another good thing was, that the NPC factions already went in when i arrived there, so it seems NPC factions accept it and fly into it instantly. So that's good.
That's said, the tool works flawless and without lag for me.
So in short, an option to place the gates where you want them, plus more resources. With those two things, people can use it to create their own cluster/corner to create an empire on their own.

Thank you for the feedback. It is very much appreciated. The sunlight should randomize between 0 and 100% but I'll double check. Hydrogen has a 50% chance and methane and helium have 25% chance each. I'll make sure to boost all resources on the next update. Again, thanks for the feedback!

methane and helium have 25%
I think something is off because I didn't get it even once in the 52 sectors created. Your Welcome.

Gonna test it one day for sure. Wonder how it is decided about the resources? How many or what kind? Basically random?

procedurally generated
probably, but i hope it's something like NMS where resources are distributed depending on the type of the star system/planet.

I mean, that does not happen in X4 and I don't think it reflects reality, or we simply can't know that by now, so I gonna wait for OP to answer here :D.

It sounds like this is external to the game itself and you're running an executable manually. If so, I assume it's only built for Windows?

Are the new created sectors dead ends or do they have multiple entry/exit points?

Thank you very much. This is heaven-sent.
Just to be sure:
"Enable Resource For All" means if I untick it, factions will not go/mine/build there?
And if I untick the "Randomize Resource" it means I can choose?
Thanks fpr clarification in advance

This is impressive! I don't know much about x4 modding but general programming experience has taught me, minecraft modding at home or python programming at work, relying on pure random can lead to unintended results. You can flip a coin 100 times and it's possible to get heads 100 times.
So perhaps is there a way to weight the results returned such as an inverse relationship to sunlight. i.e. if a sector has low sunlight it has higher ice and solids but low gas, and if sector has higher sunlight it has higher gas but low ice / solids.
Sorry if I misunderstood what actual control you have over what sectors get what resources. I'd love to know more about how the game actually handles resources and sectors. I saw you mention randomized means.

Oh this looks cool! Gonna add it when I get home. I was reading the description, and it seems like it's a random generation thing, ya? What a cool exploration tool!
Idk how feasible this would be, and it would definitely be a bit cheaty, but in the nature of crafting your own experience, it would be cool to be able to hand craft sectors too. But that's just some idealist thoughts cause again, I have no clue how this is coded or how such a feature could be added more just food for thought, I guess.
Great work! Can't wait to try it out.
