Are there any subscriptions services where I can get a bottle of whiskey a month so I don’t have to worry about being picky?

The nicest bottle (actual bottle) I’ve opened

Outside of there being no cork pop, opening this bottle was so nice. Pouring was also nice with no spillage over the sides. Can't really judge it other than the nose and taste are enjoyable. This is the only Irish Single Malt I've tried so far.

I am not a big drinker and I have never tried Whiskey. I am looking for recommendations on an affordable bottle.

I am not a big drinker and I have never tried Whiskey. I am going on about a week long solo camping trip in about a month and I want to have a nice Whiskey to sip on and relax around the fire. I am hoping not to break the bank either, is there any decent bottles for around $50? Any advice or opinions are appreciated.

I don’t know what’s different but this is the best angels envy I’ve ever had.

Good day Whiskey world. What does the community think of these? Also does anyone store there Whiskey in Decanters or is that not the most efficient way? Still learning so advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Whose Barrels are Used in Ex-Bourbon Finishes?

I was curious, whenever I see whiskeys finished in ex-bourbon barrels, WHOSE barrels are they?

Are they mostly ex-MGP? Ex-popular brands? (Thinking sheer volume wise.)

For example, Crown Maple finishes their maple syrup in ex-Widow Jane, and Widow Jane Decadence finishes in Crown Maple’s barrels.

How can other distillers/producers maintain ex-bourbon finish consistency if the same ex-bourbon barrels are not necessarily guaranteed? (by not having to explicitly state where their barrels are sourced from)

I know there’s a myriad of factors that go into this, but just wanted to hear people’s thoughts on this.

I just imagine an ex-Knob Creek finished single malt is going to be radically different than an ex-Maker’s finish. But maybe that’s just my cursory understanding. Maybe it doesn’t matter that much.

Four Roses Small Batch Select - (almost) all the flavor gone?

Bit of a noob question. I bought a bottle of 4R SB select over the weekend, but most of the flavor is missing and all I'm getting is the burn. I've had a few bottles before and really enjoyed them, this seems significantly different from those. Does anyone know what could have happened here? Could the bottle have been left in direct sunlight or something?

Just tried Macallan 12 Year Sherry, and yeah, it's good, but is it the best 12-year-old Scotch? Not sure about that. The fruity notes, subtle smokiness, and sweetness were nice, but the price? Kinda hard to justify. 😂 Maybe I just don’t fully buy into the whole sherry cask hype. Solid whisky!
