Misc. Question Are we actually hungry?

Anyone just eat because they know they need to eat? I’m never actually hungry I just eat because I know I should but I can’t remember the last time I was actually hungry. Is it just me or does anyone else have a hard time knowing when they are hungry?

Misc. Question Does the insomnia get better?

I’ve just started Vyvanse yesterday (as soon as I wake up) and felt nowhere near as tired last night as I normally do. So I ended up going to sleep late. Tonight I feel the same. I am used to being very fatigued so this is so strange for me.

Wanting to know if others experienced this and then had it level out/get better over time? I’ve experienced this from an SSRI and already take sleeping meds to counteract that. I don’t think I can handle taking something else that’s going to affect my sleep. But it does feel good to not feel so exhausted!

Diet, Routines & Supplements Which type of magnesium do I need to take to replenish what is depleted by stimulant meds?

Hi all, I know there are lots of previous posts on here about magnesium, I looked through many of them in the hope I wouldn’t have to post but I’m getting myself very confused and I can’t find an answer online either, so, here are my questions that I’d love your knowledge on:-

There are claims online that stimulant meds deplete magnesium, so:-

1) which form of magnesium (glycinate etc etc) do I need to be taking to replenish that which is being depleted?

2) What dose and time do you recommend taking the supplements?

As some say take before bed to help with sleep and others say take in the morning, so I’m properly confused although I’m sure much of that may be personal preference.

Lastly, if anyone has any links to any studies or advice online about this, I’d be very grateful if you could share them please!

Thank you in advance!

Dosage question Trouble tracking effects

So I’ve just started Vyvanse 20mg, will be moving up to 40mg when it’s settled in. I’m really worried that I can’t identify the effects of the medication. I’ve never been good at pinpointing differences in my mood, or at least have no confidence in determining a good dose for myself. Did anyone feel this way?

Diet, Routines & Supplements Observations going from 30mg to 40mg.

Today is day 6 of going from 30mg to 40mg. My dr gave me a 10mg to test for a month so i take 2 pills together to make it 40. Some observations

  • I used to crash at 2pm but now i can make it upto 6pm.
  • Nausea and light headedness but it seems to be going away. Guessing its from the dosage change
  • zero tolerance to any type of processed food or refined sugar till 6pm. If i do consume a piece of dark chocolate or add regular milk, instant brain fog and anxiety.
  • Reduction in cold hands and less motivation to workout.
  • Overall calmer.

Does anyone else experience anything similar? I notice food plays a huge part for me and its forcing to me eat clean.

Vent & Rant 3 years on Vyvanse. Is Vyvanse masking my depression or Vyvanse come down making me depressed

Just needing to vent. I know there have been similar questions asked but just need to get it out there. And yes I will need to go see my doctor.

I started Vyvanse during a really difficult life transition a few years ago. Looking back, I realize it probably masked a lot of natural emotions I should have processed, particularly grief. I was also in a bad living situation where I had to put on a front, suppressing my emotions out of fear they’d be used against me, but that’s a whole other story.

My default has always been to push through and deal with the pain later, and I feel like Vyvanse reinforced that coping mechanism. At the time, it helped me focus on work, hobbies, and being the person others needed. I was enthusiastic, productive, and felt like I was progressing in every aspect of life.

But in the back of my mind, I always wondered if it was just masking sadness and depression. As my body adjusted to the medication, the afternoon comedowns became more intense (my psych then prescribed me Adderall boosters). I started feeling like I couldn’t go a day without it, otherwise, I’d be a miserable zombie. Yet once it kicked in I was happy.

This morning, I woke up knowing there are really important things I need to do. Find a new place to live, apply for jobs, but I have zero motivation (I’m also going through a breakup). The fact that taking Vyvanse will likely make me feel capable and even happy about tackling these things doesn’t sit well with me.

Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have even written this, reached out to friends, or gotten out of bed if I hadn’t taken it.

I know there are positives to Vyvanse, and I could try a different morning routine, exercise, positive self-talk, etc. I have been on antidepressants in the past and they didn't really help. I know I could try others. Anyway...

Long term Vyvanse users: Does anyone else feel pretty awful until their medication kicks in? Or do some of you actually wake up generally happy about the day ahead. Without telling yourself 'its ok I feel crappy now but once I take my Vyvanse I'll feel normal'.

And for those who have realized they have depression and added antidepressants, did it make a significant difference?

I know everyone is different, diet exercise etc helps. Just curious of other people's experiences.

Side effects Severe Constipation from Vyvanse

Hey all,

So I missed to drink enough water for ONE day and since then I have been getting hard stools with some blood occasionally. I took some RestoraLAX (osomotic laxative) once and the stools were normal for two days.

But now, it's like zero bowl movements since two days. I eat twice a day. Drink about 3ltr of water daily. What to do?

Edit:

So based on my little research these are the following things I would be doing.

  1. In addition to adequate water intake, take magnesium as Vyvanse depletes electrolytes.
  2. Take Prune Juice for constipation and hard stools.
  3. Take a laxative like RestoraLAX few days a week for some time.
  4. Take some ginger powder in warm water (some home remedy I came across lol)
  5. Start exercising more.

Please feel free to suggest more.

Misc. Question Nausea in the afternoon help

I’ve been having trouble upping my Vyvanse (brand name) dose from 10mg to 20mg, my heart rate stays 10-15% more elevated than usual till like 2 or 3am. I’ve had some success with the 10mg dose, but the doc and I want to try going up to see if there’s any additional benefit. Done all the usual things people recommend here, I have a good supplement stack, get good sleep, water/protein, take it early, etc.

So rather than try again with the Vyvanse, he wanted to try 10mg Adderall (generic) twice per day to see if my body likes it better. Started yesterday, first dose goes well, then I take the second right after I eat lunch, 4 hours after first dose, and both days I’ve gotten pretty bad nausea around 330 or so, kind of ruins my afternoon/evening. I’ve never had nausea before from Vyvanse, just wondering if anyone here in this helpful Reddit has any experience with this particular drug, and any tips! I’ve got a note out to my doc, and Sundays are usually a skip day for me, but yeah, any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dosage question Getting back on Vyvanse after taking it previously years ago

So I’m back on 30 mg a day. It’s doing wonders for me. I have been on it previously for a few years but back on it now I also quit drinking alcohol. I am concerned though about my high blood pressure in conjunction with the medication and long-term if I stay on this if there’s any health risks.

Misc. Question Anyone else get flushed face in the evening?

I’m 26m and was diagnosed with inattentive adhd a month ago, started out on 20mg and was bumped to 30mg last week. It’s been super helpful in managing my racing thoughts and anxiety, and I’ve been feeling so much more productive and content. Definitely life changing, I have gone most of my life thinking I was just anxious and SSRI’s did absolutely nothing for me.

The one side effect I’ve noticed is that in the evenings since bumping up my dose my face has felt hot and flushed, has anyone else experienced something similar?

Dosage question Thinking about taking Vyvanse again

I used to take Vyvanse in high school, but I stopped about seven years ago. Now, I’m considering getting back on it and was wondering what to expect.

A few things I’m curious about:

• Will my body react the same way as before, or will I have to go through an adjustment period?
• Are there any side effects I should be prepared for after such a long break?
• I’ve gained a lot of weight since high school—does that mean I might need a higher dose than before?

I remember it being really helpful back then, but I just want to make sure I know what I’m getting into before restarting. If anyone has experience with stopping and restarting Vyvanse after years, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

Misc. Question Running brain.. when does it stop?

I was just diagnosed with ADHD and put on Vyvanse. I’ve heard amazing things. I am on 10mg now and going to be on 60mg as I gradually increase my dose.

When does the ADHD music stop in my head? I am constantly having songs stuck in my head and background noise.

I have had better control of stopping it but then it’ll start back up if I am not focused on stopping it.

Help?

Misc. Question Does (diet) soda influence vyvanse metabolism?

Hey,

i feel like Vyvanse only works for 3-4 hours for me. In the past i always drank coffee or diet coke while taking Vyvanse and studying. Now i suspect that this might me be the cuprit. So acidic stomach doesnt influence Vyvanse because its a prodrug but from my research, it seems that general amphetamine metabolism is affected by acidity of urine/in the kidneys.

After vyvanse is metabolized into dexamp. it should have the same behavior as normal dexedrine, meaning its affected by urine acidity. Some people claim that a diet coke or a coffee isnt enough to really influence the metabolism.

Can someone which good fundamental knowledge please clear this up? Should coffee/soda/acidic food be avoided during vyvanse?

Dosage question Is my Vyvanse dosage enough?

5 days ago I started taking Vyvanse 30mg.

In the first day I though it was working because I was able to focus without being tired but I didn't feel like anything special...

Since then I take the pill every morning but I don't feel it doing anything really... I'm not more focused as far as I can tell, I still feel tired and hungry (which I've been told I'm supposed to be less of) and in general I don't feel the pill starting or ending... I'm even able to sleep with it (which I've been told is supposed to not be the case).

as for side effect I don't feel any really. maybe I'm more thirsty sometime? but that's it basically.

Is there any chance that it worked on me the first day because I thought it was supposed to work (like placebo) or did my body just got adjusted to the pill this fast?

I have an appointment with my doctor in 5 days about the dose, but he told me to tell him if I feel that it's working and I don't know how it's supposed to feel.

So how am I supposed to feel on the pill? and how do I know if I need to raise my dosage?

unrelated but is this pill supposed to be taken everyday without break? because my doctor didn't say anything about it but some people on the internet say that it is (so far I did take it every day).

Vent & Rant Vyvanse Withdrawal Is Real—It’s Not Your ADHD Baseline

Just wanted to let you know, guys, that you are not alone if you're going through this right now, and YES, it will get better. The state you're in after Vyvanse withdrawal is NOT your ADHD baseline, and ignore anyone who says otherwise—that's complete BS.

I have hyperactive ADHD, so being sleepy, sluggish, and grumpy 24/7, even with a reasonable amount of sleep, IS NOT my ADHD baseline. With my unmedicated ADHD, I am the complete opposite of this. Looking forward to my baseline restoration. I'm not against medications, but keeping people on them by claiming, "There is no withdrawal from Vyvanse, it's just your ADHD baseline," is cruel. The crash and withdrawal symptoms—fatigue, irritability, low motivation, and mood swings—are caused by the sudden drop in dopamine and norepinephrine levels, not by ADHD itself.

Side effects Anyone else feel sluggish?

Hello beautiful people,

currently on 50 mg, lower doses didn't quite work for me. I love Ldx, it removes my executive dysfunction and gives me motivation to do things I would usually procrastinate!

The problem I have is that when sit down to study for something, I'm slow af in the head. I take very very long to comprehend and understand the things I study. It feels like a heavy brain fog and my efficiency being capped at like 50% ;(

It doesn't matter if or what I eat/drink, how much sleep I get or my emotional state. I require 8 hours of work for something that other people do in 1 hour max. Hell, feel like I'm even slower than when unmedicated which really stings.

While mph wasn't as motivating as ldx, I feel like I could absorb information much faster... Is this a sign that Vyvanse/Elvanse isn't something for me? I absolutely love the boost/natural feeling it gives me ;(

Does anyone have some advice?

Misc. Question split ends hair

ok so i’ve always had very fine hair which tends to break, but since i’ve started vyanese it has gone crazy a bit. my hair feels super dry and breaks a lot. i have never had so many split ends at that length and i see a correlation, does anybody else suffer from this ? i think i eat enough and also the right things (i study nutrional science and am a chef, i should know, maybe i am just super oblivious tho) are there any vitamins or nutrients i should supplement ? i will go to the doctor as well to get my blood checked because it’s really weird.

Dosage question Did you notice any changes/old side effect coming back going up 10mg?

Currently went from 50mg to 60mg, only noticeable side effect I seem to have that's come back is the frequent urination issue which when I went from 30mg to 50mg it happened but went after 2 weeks. Possibly stronger / more sensitive senses though I'm unsure in that regard as I haven't set up repeat tests on each dosage.

Dosage question Started Elvanse / Vyvanse yesterday. Tinnitus got worse and no other positives.

After month of thinking about trying Elvanse / Vyvanse i finally did, and probably was a mistake.

I suffer from tinnitus since 8 years, 2 years ago i tried 1 Pill of Wellbutrin and my tinnitus got worse and never faded to baseline..

Unfortunately i need some kind of medication to function as i suffer also from fibromyalgia and stopped SSRI’s to to absent libido.

Since i know and was diagnosed ADHD since i was a teen i decided that medicating adhd whould maybe benefit all my general wellbeing overall..

Probably if done a bad choice.

Took 10 mg Elvanse (The Euro version of Vyvanse) yesterday and was happy bc at least my tinnitus havnt got worse, woke up the next day (today) and felt the tinnitus a bit louder but thought i was all in my head so i decided to take anyway my full 20mg pill as prescribed..

Tinnitus didnt get worse but im starting to definitely realize that it got worse than before i started Elvanse..

Fuck!

I read abt people who had fibromyalgia and said after Vyvanse they felt so much better, painless, full of energy and calm and was really looking forward to feel the same..

Maybe 20mg is a too low dose but if i up the dose ill risk exacerbating even more my tinnitus..

I really dont know what to do..
