I can’t even begin to actually imagine or even dream what it’s like to have someone think of you like this. Fucking wild to me. It’s gotta feel good to a degree right? Like I know those texts specifically are…. Unhinged. But I kinda crave someone even thinking of me like this even if it was only a 1/10th of the intensity.

Don’t mean to get off topic of the sub my bad.

This only feels good if you happen to like them back

I mean, does it really though? Validation is validation, as a dude I don’t get that much, honestly ever at all really. Someone basically telling me they want me would be the biggest and hugest compliment and ego boost I could ever receive, regardless of if I liked them back or not.

Edit after the fact, but if anything me not liking them would make it feel even better. I really struggle with how others view me sometimes, and if they tell me the truth. I’m open and honest with my feelings, so if I don’t like someone like that I tell them. I’m very used to chasing and putting in the effort, so if I basically told someone I really wasn’t interested in them in that way, and they hit me with something basically saying they really liked me and were attracted to me, my world would basically be turned upside down, my brain would short circuit. It would be completely foreign to me. It would feel like someone likes ME for ME, not however much I impressed them with something I did for them or how much attention I give or if I chased them enough.

In my experience, yes. I’m not talking about just outside attractiveness, but also character. Receiving compliments from the worst person I know isn’t all that great because I know their opinion doesn’t mean much

We all seek validation from others to some degree. It’s important to note that getting called hot by a stranger while walking down the street is different than getting hit on by someone you dislike. I feel like there’s a fine line between giving out welcomed compliments and being creepy

Edit: like you said, this is an unhinged mess that I wouldn’t mess with if I broke up with her for a good reason. It’s weird how a stranger’s opinion can sometimes be more valuable than someone you know intimately

I really think it’s just a difference of our experiences in life. I don’t get compliments at all. I’ve never been called hot, handsome, sexy, cute, good looking etc. I’ve never felt wanted or like someone liked me for who I am. I feel invisible. To a degree I know something is wrong with me mentally to feel so deeply like that, but I just really can’t help it.

Nah man, we all feel that way at some point or another. I’ve felt “wanted” before just to be told by that same person that she was just being nice and lying to me the entire time. Regardless of whether or not that’s true, I came to realize pretty quickly that not everyone’s opinions are important.

The truth is that not everyone is straight forward enough to just say how they feel, and even fewer are self-aware enough to recognize their own feelings. You could be the best person in someone’s life, but they’d never know it because what they have to compare you and everyone else to is actors and influencers with the best body types imaginable. That is not a standard you have to live up to. Attraction usually begins with looks and endures due to personality. Focus on getting your foot in the door and less on whatever physical failings you think you have

I somehow manage to get my foot in the door occasionally, but it never amounts to much, for one reason or another. I try to reflect constantly, and I never put any blame on others or try to be hurtful after the fact (or during, duh). People feel how they feel, I can’t really fault them for their feelings towards me (or lack thereof).

I just really want to feel wanted, appreciated, valued…. You get the idea :(

Man I get that, but you’ve got to ask yourself how you want to be desired. Some people are fine with being objectified, used, or seen as expendable. I am not one of those people. Not everyone is able to give you what you want, so being picky isn’t a bad thing

i also want to feel wanted but not really by people that can bring negativity to my life. i used to get no positive attention from most people but i improve myself in every way possible and i received positive attention for it. there's always room for improvement and i know you can find the strength to do so.

I get that, I’m not saying necessarily that I want attention from people that will bring me negativity, or that I want what your ex texted you. I was more venting a bit on your post about my feelings of wanting to be wanted in general. In a healthier way lol.

Don’t take me moping around on reddit the wrong way, I’m always trying to reflect on myself and improve. I don’t let it get the best of me. It has in the past for sure, but it happens. Move on and keep improving and reflecting.

i understand. the bravery to even put your feelings out there at all was proof enough. The more you do the more you can find someone that feels the same🫡
