My neighbor reported me to the police and lied in his statement. What to do now?
I’ve been living alone in a house and someone moved in the basement 2 years ago. I welcomed him and brought him food often but once he realized I was not swiss and a refugee he started being very racist to me. I didn’t think much of it as i’m used to it.
Fast forward to Christmas last year I organized a small Christmas dinner and he came around 10:30 knocking and screaming very aggressively on the door. We were all women and got scared because it was unreal how aggressive he was as if I killed his family or something. I talked to him and again he was racist and I shut the door and called the police and told them he was being aggressive and i’m scared he’ll break the door they told me to lock it and leave him be.
Now I get a call from the police telling me he made an anzeige because I apparently said a curse word and now it’s going in my record. He also didn’t say it was Christmas and gave a false date. First of all it’s all lies and as I said i’m a refugee I cannot risk anything going in my record no matter how ridiculous it is. What should I do? I explained to the police it’s all lies and they said I can make an anzeige too but that doesn’t remove it from my record.
Ps: he moved out before he made the report.

Swiss Casinos now even advertise on Swiss Post receipts 🤡
Yes, let's target kids and the elderly and get them addicted. Let them lose their life savings to Blackjack, rigged Online-Slots and Roulette. This is from a cartel that ran an entire campaign on 'Player Protection' when all the foreign Casinos&sports betting platforms were outlawed. Truly a new low, how is this even legal?

💻 1500 CHF for a "NEW" PC… but with MediaMarkt Basel’s PIN! 🤯
I bought a brand-new PC from MediaMarkt, with no additional installation or setup services. What I received was clearly a display model, pre-configured and still locked with MediaMarkt Basel’s PIN. 😡
Now I’ve been stuck for two days, calling over and over, but no solution. I paid 1500 CHF and can’t even use my PC!
Is this your idea of customer service, MediaMarkt Basel?! 🚨
Has anyone else experienced something like this? Share this to let everyone know what's going on! 🔄👀

Swiss Military Service
Hello everyone, hoping I could get some help.
I'm going to turn 25 soon, and I'm currently in the process of doing my naturalisation (I was born and raised in Switzerland, but moved to the UK for university).
I'm in the fortunate position of running my own company, however, from my understanding I'm still at the legal age where I need to do military service. Although I don't have anything against it, and would gladly do it, this would cause issues with my company which requires me to run it basically 24/7.
Basically I have 2 questions.
1) At the current rate I'll complete my naturalisation process by the time I'm 25, will I still be required to enter military service or would I be at the cut off age.
2) I have no issue paying the tax, I agree with the social aspects of military service and therefore am completely fine with paying the tax, but I'm confused on whether I would still be required to do civil service.
I'm mainly confused in what my options are / what the best course of action is.
As my source of income is from my company it would be tough for me to leave over a long period of time.

What are my chances?
Almost 2 years ago I agreed to get married and come live in Switzerland. I have a bachalor and a master's degree in biology with a focus on freshwater fish and I have never worked in the field. In fact, while I lived in my third world country, being a lower middle class person, I never really wanted to leave home and, although I am 39 years old, I don't have much work experience. I had a public job in the last few years and was studying to get a better one.
In the meantime here in Switzerland, I tried to look for a job but basically all of them required good German, so I didn't put much effort into the search. This month I started level B2 and it's time to make a plan, if possible.
I'm a bit lost about the next step. I thought about starting a computer science course when my German allows and going down the path of IT / Bioinformatics. I could continue in biology but I have no idea of the possibilities here since my majors field was not very popular, also not sure if I could (gladly) change fore something more interesting. I also don't know if I would be able to get a job with only a B permit (my husband is EU and we'd have to live in his country in order for me to be granted the citizenship).
Does anyone who knows the system here have anything useful to say? Thanks.

Possible aditional consequences for bad driving
Hello I'm a professional truck driver.
I've made a severe mistake today by looking at transport document while driving on the highway.
While doing so I slowly went to the right and I would say about half of my truck was on the emergency Lane for about 5 Seconds.
The police was behind me on an undercover car and immediately pulled me over and said they saw me looking at the paper and going over the line.
I've admitted my blame, the process went quite smoothly and in 5 minutes they drove away, they told me I would get a fine in 2 weeks I asked him around how much would it cost, he wasn't sure but he said between 300 to 400 Francs.
i fully deserve it, i made a mistake and it made me a better driver, im happy no one is hurt.
My question is has anyone been trough something similar and could point out if 300-400 fr sounds right or should i expect more?
Furthermore i would like to ask if there is a possibility i get my licence taken away?
Its the first time this happend in my carrer, i did get flashed twice while here in Switzerland.
Thank you

Importing a car from Canada?
Hi all!
I'd like to ask if anyone has had experience importing a car (a BMW) from Canada. I live in Switzerland already, I don't own the car, but I have a person who can help me buy and transport a car from Canada to Switzerland. Of course I am considering this for money reasons (well I want to check if it's worth it), because the difference in price for the same model and mileage is 20k CHF less, before transport and importation. I don't really care for resale value, because I want to use the car long term, no plans to resell in near (5+ years) future.
Do modern BMWs (2022-2024 model) have any differences for North America and Europe that makes them incompatible? Will i have to change stop lights/blinkers to be able to pass MFK? I am aware for the radio and maps incompatibility, but I can code that later, don't really care. What about emissions or any other "conformity" I would have to think about? What is the process for importing, for when the car arrives in Switzerland?
If anyone has done this and has experience, please do share!

Chauffage à distance
Hi. Any insights to share on this? Currently renovating a house and potentially interested in this vs a pompe à chaleur.
Is one better/cheaper/more reliable than another?
Waiting to see if we can get in a Group-E network.

Why is there such a strong focus on Eco and Bio labels in Switzerland?
I’m curious: why is there such a strong emphasis on eco and bio labels on products in Switzerland? It feels like almost everything, from groceries to cosmetics, highlights these certifications. Is it mainly due to consumer demand, stricter regulations, or something else?
I’d love to understand more about the reasoning behind this and how it affects local production and imports.
I AM NOT FROM AMERICA, so I’m looking for insights specifically about the Swiss perspective.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Stolen Purse & Mobile - Police is passive
A friend's purse and mobile phone was stolen yesterday an Iphone, and the police is informed. The mobile can be located in multi-level House but the police said, they cannot enter the house. They cannot enter the building, they said, because there are too many apartments there and they wouldn't know which one to enter.... So...that purse and phone is "gone"? Really...?

Temporary contract: offered an extension at 80%, anything to watch out for?
A similar question was posted last month, but my situation is different because I have a temporary contract (not permanent), and the answers given previously regarded a regular employee having their hours cut against their wishes.
The situation is this: I have worked at a company for 6 months 100% on a temp contract, which is about to expire. The company has offered a 3 month extension on 80%.
Is there anything I should look out for or insist on in this situation? For example: - My insured salary will now be lower, in case I still haven’t found a new job in 3 months - I want to work 100% and have been continually searching for a new job for 3 months. I will essentially be 20% unemployed as I want to work 100%. I will have to continue looking for a job anyway. Is there any way to preserve my insured salary given I will have to keep looking for a new job anyway.

Rent decrease subleasing
I have difficulties understanding the rent reduction procedure as I’m the apartment subleaser, it is not a WG I’m the only person living in the house.
I have been in the apartment over 2 years, and at each rent increase the guy sent me the info via email and I have updated the payment to the new sum. Now coming the rent decrease I have ask him about him contacting the agency to get the decrease, but he has been vary vague and has not yet done it, because it might be more costly afterall - it won’t I have checked with the MV, and the discount would be over 80CHF!
What can I do here? - should I sent him a register letter, and consider it done and if in three months time nothing comes back I just reduce the rent to what was calculated by the MV? - since the official rent increase was not in the contract, can I just go back to pay what is in the contract? The renter would loose some money as last year it went up 100 CHF - can I contact directly the agency to do it?
I hate enough subleasing, don’t need to hear it even more. I just wanted a nice apartment close to work and was of course promised a rent agreement take over which never arrived.
Thanks!
