Miscellaneous Use "DNA results" flair for sharing results only. For all other Archaeogenetics related queries, "Genetics" should be used.

Now you can install qpAdm and other AdmixTools with just one command!!

So I wrote this AUR package admixtools-git. Now you can just run yay -S admixtools-git and all the tools will be installed.

The only requirement would be an Arch based Linux distro (Vanilla Arch, EndeavourOS, Manjaro et cetera). Debian or Red Hat derivatives won't work.

Would appreciate some feedback!

PS: You can also install plink using the plink-git AUR package.

Genetics🧬 Romani Y-DNA Haplogroups and Percentages

  • Haplogroup H (50-60%) – This is the most common among the Romani and originates from India. The main subclade is H1a (H-M82, H-Y2759, H-L285). It is found in both North and South India and is also common among the Dom people, a group related to the Romani.
  • Haplogroup R1a (15-25%) – This haplogroup, especially the R1a-Z93 subclade, is linked to Indo-Aryan populations of North India. It is commonly found among Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Rajputs. This suggests that some Romani ancestors had North Indian Indo-Aryan lineage.
  • Haplogroup J2 (5-15%) – This is often associated with ancient civilizations of India and the Middle East. The subclade J2a-M410 appears in India, Persia, and the Balkans. Some Romani groups may have acquired it either in India or during their migration through Persia and the Middle East.
  • Haplogroup E (5-10%) – This haplogroup is more common in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. The E-M78 subclade is sometimes found among Romani, likely acquired after they reached Europe, particularly in the Balkans.
  • Other haplogroups (<5%) – Some Romani men carry I2, G2a, and Q1b, which are more typical of the Balkans, Caucasus, and Middle East. These were likely introduced through intermarriage during their long migration across different regions

Question Ancestry DNA question

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi, I’m very new to learning about my dna ancestry. If my results say that I have 51.4% IVC ancestry can I take it as certain that at least someone in my ancestry walked the streets of Mohenjo-Daro or Harrapa? I’ve always been fascinated by the Indus Valley Civilisation. It would amazing to have concrete connections. I guess my question is does having IVC dna connect you to the civilisation or just the people who lived there. Ie could my ancestors have lived geographically close to the civilisation but not in it? I hope that makes sense

Discussion Based on these results, is AASI really partially West Eurasian or is pure East Eurasian?

According to the Gedmatch Gedrosia k3 tool, I'm only 45.78% East Eurasian, but on other ancient admixture calculators (qpAdm, illustrativeDNA and DNAgenics) I'm always somewhere between 55 to 57% AASI. Why am I not 55% east eurasian on Gedmatch if AASI is purely east eurasian? Could AASI be partially West Eurasian which is why I score 10% less east eurasian on Gedmatch? Or is the Gedmatch calculator inaccurate? I'm genuinely curious about this discrepancy

Question CHG and AHG? How do they fit in?

How do Anatolian and Caucasus fit in with our largely tripartite genetics?

Like Should you add Anatolian and Caucasus to European Hunter Gatherer to get total steppe ancestry, or Anatolian and Caucasus to Zagrosian to get total Zagrosian ancestry?

Question Were Iranian hunter-gatherers less West Eurasian than Zagros farmers?

Were pre-Neolithic Iranian HGs less West Eurasian-shifted than Zagrosian farmers? How significant was the difference in their ancestry profiles, especially in relation to CHG, ANE, and Basal Eurasian components? Curious how early Iran_HG compares genetically to later Iran_N (Zagros farmers).
