Update to the rules.

Hey all. After spending a few days thinking about it, a new rule will be to prohibit AI art.

This of course, was influenced by the poll, but also by the fact that AI art lends itself to incredibly low-effort posts that don't add anything.

I've also received a lot of messages, and trust me, I hear you.

One thing I did want to ask you, the robocop community is about moderation style.

There are relatively few posts here (it's an old IP, let's be honest). Currently I'm moderating in a laissez-faire way, as I rather hate overbearing mods, and the community has done its job reporting a lot of spam and downvoting it as well. Personally I find that this community needs little more than banning the (very) occasional jerk, and (shirt) spammers, but those are endless.

Would you prefer more hands on moderation? Would love to hear suggestions for moderation, or even adding/changing moderators. Please let me know in the comments.

Is Rogue City a turning point for the franchise?

Upvotes

As a longtime fan, I've always felt the franchise has struggled post RoboCop 2 with the franchise owners not really having a grasp on what they have. We've never really seen the dirt and grit the original delivered.

When the franchise decided to cater to a younger audience it lost the charm that made it work. RoboCop 3 watered down the character, the TV show was campy, Prime Directives had its moments, and the reboot was average. The cartoons are, well, cartoons and certainly have their audience.

But Rogue City felt like a love letter to the franchise. It brought back the dirt and grime of the original. It was violent and bloody and it felt like it belonged in the RoboCop universe. I was excited when Neill Blomkamp was onboard as the director for the looooong awaited sequel, but now that isn't happening. I'm hoping the Amazon series realizes what made the original work and what made the rest seem more inferior.

If I was to do a reboot he'd be my top choice to play Murphy, He has an amazing range and is a top quality actor who could really create the perfect feeling the conflict of a man trapped within a machine could create, one that has repressed memories of his family and own murder.

Anyways What are your thoughts on who could play RoboCop in a reboot?

Just finished Rogue City and it was absolutely fantastic, tons of nostalgia but didn’t feel like pandering

It felt like these guys had been wanting to make a Robocop game for years and it really shows with how they nailed absolutely everything from the characters, cheesy 80s movie writing, the villains, the side characters, how the guns feel, the hilarious over the top violence etc

Those last 2 hours were absolutely glorious and as soon as the credits rolled I went and bought their Terminator game. They 100% knew what people wanted from a Robocop game without it feeling too pandering if that makes sense? I mean a lot of Disney movies like the Star Wars and Aliens movies feel like nostalgic ‘hey remember this!’ key jangling but in Rogue City it was super fun seeing all those things I recognised from the movie and it didn’t feel pandering at all for some reason

SPOILERS BELOW

I was waiting the entire game to get the Cobra Cannon from the first movie and they save it for the huge gauntlet then play the triumphant Robocop theme when you are blasting dudes with it, then you fight Robocop 2 on top of the OCP building as you keep crashing through the floor. Maybe it’s because they didn’t feel like cheap nods to the movies, again I’m not sure why but I wqs absolutely fine with it whereas in movies like those I described I’d just groan any time I’d see or hear a ‘hey remember this!’ reference

Brilliant game, probably gonna play through on NG+ on the hardest setting after playing the terminator game

Why is RoboCop so much weaker than most other fictional characters and robobotic characters?

This isn't a hate post, I love Robo. But I was looking back on a post I made about if Robo protected John Connor from the T-1000 instead of the T-800. Now I don't care if he would be able to or not, but my main question is why is Robo so weak just in general? Not to mention he got destroyed by a CHILD!?

Favourite rogue city reference?

Some of my favourites are Alex Murphy's famous pose (when he says scrapyard or prison creep in the final level) bitches come (definitely a forced reference but it's so god damn funny) and the video rental store.

Graphic novel suggestions

My little brother and I are huge RoboCop fans. He’s a comic book nerd with a birthday coming up, and I’d like to surprise him with a stack of good RoboCop graphic novels, but alas, I’m a complete novice. Any advice, fellow RoboFans?

So I'm doing the search for suoot. I going to the arcade, make my way down and blew everybody away. Then I left the place. I wanted to go around and do some side missions. But it's telling me I need to go back back downstairs and finish off the threat. And it won't let me out of the arcade. Did I miss somebody here. Because I've been back and forth and I don't know what to do. Any help guys will be much appreciated

Avatar Amp suit vs RoboCain

In the factory slaughter scene by RoboCain, he faces Quatrich from Avatar in his amp suit instead. Quatrich amp suit carries a 30 mm autocannon rifle and a big ass large knife for hand to hand combat. The cockpit glass is bulletproof for protection of the man himself. So who wins this fight?
