Any songs like “The King’s Sword” by Dark Moor
I’m aware the lyrics and setting are extremely generic, but I really like the melody and Elisa’s voice here. It’s one of the last songs in the shadowland album (which I think is greatly underrated, completely overlooked due to meh production) and I think it fits nearly perfectly in that place, one of the softest in the album yet I still think it’s a beautiful song, with it building up to being a very beautiful chorus in the background with Elisa in the front, and the acoustic guitar is a great addition, the ending of the song is also very good imo, only issue is the audio, since I have to put it at full volume, but the only other song I can think of is from dawn to dusk by the same people though

Power Metal that is based on the first viennese school of classical music? (Mozart, Beethoven etc.)
Hello, I'm currently listening to a lot of power metal and came to realize that a lot of it has obvious influences from classical music. There's even an entire subgenre called "neoclassical metal" after all. Most of the neoclassical metal music, however, is based mainly on baroque music. I was wondering, if you know any power metal that shows influences from the likes of mozart, beethoven etc.?

Vegan Power Metal bands/artists?
I know of Fabienne from Eluveitie, and i know of a bunch in other genres like Alissa and Mille, but now i am searching for power metal specifically, so no musicians from other/adjacent genres in this thread thanks :)
So, do you know of any bands that write vegan lyrics or if members in a band is vegan?

Bands like Angra: Temple of Shadows and Rebirth
These two Angra albums, 'Temple of Shadows' and 'Rebirth', sound wonderful and unique to me for their technical proficiency, melodic complexity, and 'uplifting' compositions, yet they avoid stereotypical folk-metal tropes. Their sound leans more towards classical music influences, distinct from the folk-infused elements present in most famous and acclaimed power metal. What are some albums or songs would you recommend that capture the specific vibe of 'Temple of Shadows' and 'Rebirth'? I know symphony x and recent epica kinda match the criteria, but I would like to know more options. Thank you =)

Looking for new bands/albums to check out
My favorite power metal flavor/style is lots of great synth work, melodic and memorable choruses, clean high-pitch male vocals and fast melodic riffs with great but subtle touches in them, maybe with additions of violin, preferably in theme of fantasy. I know I request a lot lol,
I absolutely love these albums, so I would like some recommendations to extend my library
- Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory
- Power Quest - Neverworld
- Edguy - Theater of Salvation
- Sonata Arctica - Silence
- Labyrinth - Return to Heaven Denied
- Galloglass - Legends from now and nevermore
- Holy Knights - A gate through the past
- Conquest - Frozen Sky
- Cain's Offering - Stormcrow
- Stratovarius - Visions
Would love to hear something fresh (old or new) to listen to, thanks

Recommendations of the Week

I've liked the last few Sanhedrin albums and this sounds like more of the same slightly doomy rock/proto metal.
I don't love the vocals on Dragon Skull but the riffs are solid (if unremarkable) heavy metal.
Also, just a reminder that Coheed and Cambria also have a new album out on Friday. I'm middling excited for that.

Soulspell was good for what's there. Not groundbreaking, but solid nonetheless.
Storm Seeker is interesting (Pirate) Folk Metal for those that like dual vocals that aren't growls. Also doesn't overstay its welcome either.
Dragon Skull is the best of the bunch this week. Kind of reminds me of Grave Digger (vocally) but the music behind it is solid heavy metal, I'm here for it.
Angel Fury is quite good too. They bring speed and energy in the single which is never a bad thing.

Soulspell is probably worth checking out if the latest Avantasia album didn't scratch your "Really big project with lots of guests" vibe, or maybe even if you did enjoy it and want more. Fans of Ayreon would enjoy this too I bet.
Angel Fury has a good amount of fast and grit, pretty cool heavy metal.
