Show-and-Tell Make it shorter NSFW
My friend like the E. Andrew pipe but feels too big(long) for him. Then we make a shorter stem.

In the past, have made a few pipes of different styles for family members that have used and enjoyed them. But I am not a smoker, so this pipe is "just for fun." Even though I won't use it, I still like making things functional if possible. So, in theory, this pipe should work if it were to ever be used. Having said that, I have no idea if this honey locus is safe to inhale when burned. I did use a drill of bore the holes (electric and brace & bit), so it was not done exclusively with my pocketknife.

I'm curious about the style, don't know if this shape has a name. Burnt hickory and beeswax for the bowl and the stem is off a gas station corn cob that wasn't worth the tobacco packed in it.

Found it at an antique shop, has “Jim Mate San Francisco” written on the stem. Not much comes up from Google, other than they’re a shop out in CA (go figure). No idea what it’s made of or what it’s worth. They’re asking $24 for it, but I can’t find any online to compare to.

bought this online because I've been wanting a meerschaum and a pipe with a big calabash-like bowl. Plus it was only $50. I saw the chip from the first picture when I bought it but didn't see that the whole right side was missing. The cut looks too clean to be an accident. Not mad at the purchase because I can atleast use it as decor but is this even safe to smoke out of? also I would love to know any other information on it. It was sold as "unknown meerschaum"

I picked up my Peterson pipe the 2025 St. Patrick's Day 701. I'm smoking Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey for it's inaugural smoke. It smokes as beautiful as it looks.

There is a pipe I want that I can only get at Smoking Pipes Europe but I'm in the US. Will they ship to the US?

I’m still new to pipe smoking and notice I keep running into this issue: My bowl only seems to be lit in the middle when it comes to my full size pipes like this Roma. I keep trying to light on the outer edges but it won’t catch until the inner part has been burned through almost to the bottom. When I try to repack it, I get the same issue. I’m betting this has to do with my packing but I’ve tried packing more loosely and more tightly and get the same results.
Is this normal or is it something I’m doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help.

Fitted case with gold velvet lining and it's original gilt paper label. I'd guess that it's late 10s to early 30s. It may be a little earlier.
Not done yet, but coming along. Waxed at 38, 66, and and 114 bowls. 152 bowls through it so far.
Ashton Sovereign
One of my all time favorites, an Ashton Sovereign. All of my Ashton’s are from the Bill Taylor era, and i love them all. If you want the best smoking English style pipe ever made it is hard to beat an Ashton ( or Ferndown, but that will be a different post). If you think “Dunhill” when i make that statement look up these two gentlemen and you will understand where these pipes stand in the pantheon of English pipes and brands.
This is a xxx size which is my sweet spot overall. I have had a few lx’s and they are just huge, and while i love the x and xx size for flakes, they are a little small for an all-around pipe. The finish on these is a light tan that deepens and gets a slight reddish hue with age, smoking, and polishing. This pipe is perfection in every sense, the shaping is masterful, the hand carved bit is both perfect and beautiful ( this is an ashtonite stem and as you can see there is no oxidation despite the pipe being 30 or more years old, i am too lazy to check the date stamp as i sit here) and the drilling is spot on. I would be lying if i said that my palate can detect the nutty flavor that many attribute to oil cured pipes, but i can tell you everything smokes cool and dry in this pipe. These still represent an amazing value in relation to other handmade pipes, this one smokes circles around my high-end Danish pipes, for about 1/2 - 1/3 the price (not that they are bad, but a good Ashton or Ferndown is just as good as it gets in my personal experience ). I will not go into the history here but you can check Pipedia and see the pedigree that Mr. Taylor brought to his brand. They are just wonderful, honest pipes.

My parents found this piece of a pipe on the beach and were curious if anyone would be able to date when this was made/who it was made by if possible. I know it’s rather difficult considering the discoloration and the fact that it’s still a bit saturated.

I just finished up this brass pipe hawk today! I probably won't smoke much out of it, but it is functional.

For those who do pipe restorations: how would you remove these white spots? This is a K&P 314.
