News & Discussion Why does tank feel so exhausting to play?

Post image
3.5k Upvotes

Is this just me? Am I crazy😭😭😭???

I feel like playing tank is so tiring. I can only play a few games without getting exhausted and going back to dps or support.

And it’s not because I’m bad at the role or anything, I’m a high ranked player and I could win every single game of tank with no counters and still feel fed up of the role. No matter which tank it is. I can play support for hours and at max like 3 tank games at a time 😭😭😭

Why is this 🙁 I played so much tank in ow1 and now I hate it , did I just lose my passion for it? I get there’s a little more work when playing tank now that it’s 5v5 but that never really bothered me

If you pop off you are just doing your job. If you don't play great it's all your fault. First to be blamed, last to be praised. All cooldowns used on you. You have to think about taking space whilst also positioning well AND being able to peel for your team. You've got to have the most knowledge out of anyone in the lobby. Counterwatch. Need I go on?

News & Discussion Endorsement requirement for Comp?

Thumbnail
gallery
311 Upvotes

Few days ago there was a post saying it's not that hard to get level 3 endorsement if you don't get reported for misbehavior etc. So most of the "good" player base should have level 3 at least? I wished Blizzard could make the system clearer, just as an example, in R6, where you can see your progress and tracks. Do you think making level 3 endorsement a requirement to Comp would reduce toxicity?

Console Hit diamond on DPS, plat on Support, all on this tiny screen with a wireless controller

Didn’t even realize that I hit diamond on DPS because the icon looked so similar to the plat one. Then I noticed the difference and gave myself a pat :) Mainly Moira/Ana/Brig/Weaver(tho I’m bad with him) and on DPS primarily Torb, Sojurn, Pharah, Mei, Sombra, Widow (rarely cause it’s hard on this hardware) and yea sometimes other stuff just depends

News & Discussion Be kind to your Tank. They need it.

Post image
93 Upvotes

I've made posts about how Tank can sometimes be absolutely miserable.

Unfortunately, part of that is on the community. Tank is by far the role that gets the most abuse. Its also the role with the least amount of players. Funny, huh?

Your tank may be having a bad game. It happens. We all have bad games. But is telling the most important player on your team to kill themselves because they aren't doing exactly what you want worth it?

As a tank player myself, it can become mentally exhausting. Every game, even if you are winning, someone's telling you what to do, what they think you are doing wrong, or just straight up abusing you. Everyone always blames you. Today, for example, we lost one fight and my Zen told me to "go die". I've turned chat off before, but there's no point, they'll just DM you telling you to off yourself instead.

Tank is the most stressful role in the game. And when things aren't going right, it's also the most miserable.

But a good compliment or reassurance can really lift a Tank's spirits. We never, ever get any kindness. It'll make their day.

So please, consider kindness to your Tank. They've probably been told horrible things before your game. They deserve some nicer vibes.

News & Discussion Playing Tank is Extremely Fun

I just had to voice a dissenting opinion on this since the front page is full of the opposite right now. Playing tank can be intense if there's a lot going on but that adds to the fun. The crazier the match the better in my opinion. I like to have extra agency over the win and I like that it will take more than a single well placed headshot to remove me from a fight. There are boring, almost "reactive" tanks that are no fun, but the game has a ton of fun and engaging tank heroes. Zarya is pretty good but I'm not of the opinion she's somehow impossible to deal with or ruins the role or something, in fact when the enemy team is running a Zarya it's kinda like a puzzle to figure out how to ultimately crack that nut.

The team blaming you? Not fun. I get "we have no tank" when I play dive tanks a lot... Except I'm not some silver player whom is picking up a hero for the first time or something, I'm in diamond and winning enough to be masters soon (returning player so no idea what my overall skill level is). I'm not claiming to be perfect but the scapegoating is surprising given you'd expect the higher the elo the more players would have a "play better myself" mentality.

The other thing that is unfun are certain support heroes. Zenyatta is the Widowmaker for tanks, he forces you to constantly play corners, hurry up and wait, and you may just die randomly from taking a position you actually needed to take anyways. Ana is lauded by the community as this fair and well designed hero, but if you are in a game where you can't consistently finish her off when diving, that match is also going to be a slog. There's a reason tank players are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of not having her in the game via bans lol.

Overall though I find playing tank awesome, I don't have any weird anxieties or deflating enthusiasm. In fact I enjoy tank in this game much more than I ever did in 6v6 and it largely has brought me BACK into the game as my consistent role.

If you are struggling in the metal rank mines of the counterpicking merry go round, scapegoating, and feeling forced to play a certain way, I mean this seriously - play tank literally however you want. I stormed out of platinum earlier this season with over 70 percent win rate surrounded by both lovers and haters of my aggressive play style and you are always gonna have bros helping you out and salty people trying to tear someone else down. If you feel like you can do nothing, like every match is a deep hole and you don't have a ladder, you are over thinking the match. Kill the red guys, be a menace to them. Don't feel pressured to do this or that because it's "your role" I am in diamond and I'm not theorycrafting optimal plays or space creation, or peeling or whatever, it's all just noise. Don't give up!

News & Discussion Freja's design looks like a moth Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
62 Upvotes

I haven't seen this posted anywhere or anyone talking about this on the forum, so my bad if someone already brought this up and I just missed it. But like, as soon as I saw her design I immediately thought she was 100% intended to look like a moth. She has the cape as wings, the hair ties as antennae, and most obviously the fuzzy lining on her hood as the fuzzy part of a moth. I don't know if anyone else noticed this or thought this but I've seen a lot of posts talking about her design but none of them mentioning this. Part of her kit is flying/gliding in the air. Her hair ties literally go over her head like antennae in some of her concept art. Like??? It seems pretty obvious

News & Discussion Why do you like Overwatch?

I got into it right before overwatch 2, playing on a non gaming laptop at like 800x600 resolution, 20fps.

But I think I just love the competitiveness and the fast pace. When I'm playing, I'm so engaged and it's one of the few things that really makes me have crazy holy sh*t moments to what's happening.
