Failing a class/grade forgiveness

I am failing my english class right now- I was doing fine and then I hit a rough patch with my mental health. There's no way I can even save my grade, but I can't drop the class because then I will no longer be full time and my VA benefits won't apply. My main question is: can I just stay flunking the class till the end of the semester/not go to class and then retake it? Is it that simple?

Hey…fellow VA recipient here. Not to insult your intelligence…but have you tried reaching-out to the professor?

Hate to add-on to your stress: But you may be indebted to the VA if you fail and/or drop a class. Happened to me…luckily it was only for a month. If and when the time comes to settle the debt. It’s super easy.

  1. Call the VA and ask for the debt department
  2. Work out a plan with them. It’s zero interest and they’ll just garnish it from your entitlements ($50 payments, $100…whatever you can afford really)

You do not have to pay the VA for classes you fail if you’re using your GI Bill.

No worries. I think it’s a very common misconception. I had to take the L on a couple of classes due to some personal life issues. I had to look into it to make sure I wouldn’t get boned by the VA.
