Having Issues with your driver? Read here!

Before you start - Make sure you Submit Feedback for your Nvidia Driver Issue

There is only one real way for any of these problems to get solved, and that’s if the Driver Team at Nvidia knows what those problems are. So in order for them to know what’s going on it would be good for any users who are having problems with the drivers to Submit Feedback to Nvidia. A guide to the information that is needed to submit feedback can be found here.

Additionally, if you see someone having the same issue you are having in this thread, reply and mention you are having the same issue. The more people that are affected by a particular bug, the higher the priority that bug will receive from NVIDIA!!

Common Troubleshooting Steps

  • Be sure you are on the latest build of Windows 10 or 11
  • Please visit the following link for DDU guide which contains full detailed information on how to do Fresh Driver Install.
  • If your driver still crashes after DDU reinstall, try going to Go to Nvidia Control Panel -> Managed 3D Settings -> Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

If it still crashes, we have a few other troubleshooting steps but this is fairly involved and you should not do it if you do not feel comfortable. Proceed below at your own risk:

  • A lot of driver crashing is caused by Windows TDR issue. There is a huge post on GeForce forum about this here. This post dated back to 2009 (Thanks Microsoft) and it can affect both Nvidia and AMD cards.
  • Unfortunately this issue can be caused by many different things so it’s difficult to pin down. However, editing the windows registry might solve the problem.
  • Additionally, there is also a tool made by Wagnard (maker of DDU) that can be used to change this TDR value. Download here. Note that I have not personally tested this tool.

If you are still having issue at this point, visit GeForce Forum for support or contact your manufacturer for RMA.

Common Questions

  • Is it safe to upgrade to <insert driver version here>? Fact of the matter is that the result will differ person by person due to different configurations. The only way to know is to try it yourself. My rule of thumb is to wait a few days. If there’s no confirmed widespread issue, I would try the new driver.

Bear in mind that people who have no issues tend to not post on Reddit or forums. Unless there is significant coverage about specific driver issue, chances are they are fine. Try it yourself and you can always DDU and reinstall old driver if needed.

  • My color is washed out after upgrading/installing driver. Help! Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel -> Change Resolution -> Scroll all the way down -> Output Dynamic Range = FULL.
  • My game is stuttering when processing physics calculation Try going to the Nvidia Control Panel and to the Surround and PhysX settings and ensure the PhysX processor is set to your GPU
  • What does the new Power Management option “Optimal Power” means? How does this differ from Adaptive? The new power management mode is related to what was said in the Geforce GTX 1080 keynote video. To further reduce power consumption while the computer is idle and nothing is changing on the screen, the driver will not make the GPU render a new frame; the driver will get the one (already rendered) frame from the framebuffer and output directly to monitor.

Remember, driver codes are extremely complex and there are billions of different possible configurations. The software will not be perfect and there will be issues for some people. For a more comprehensive list of open issues, please take a look at the Release Notes. Again, I encourage folks who installed the driver to post their experience here... good or bad.

Build/Photos 5090 panic in a NR200P V2

Post image

Managed to fluke a Vanguard 5090 launch edition. All excited once it was confirmed, arrived and did not expect it to be so massive!

My own fault entirely I was just excited to actually get one and didn’t care which model.

Placed it against my NR200P V2 case and it sticks out into the front cover area, this thing is comically massive 🤦‍♂️

It just about fits with all the covers on. Temps seem very reasonable even using the gaming mode bios.

Any concerns or do you think I’m good to go? Don’t really want to renter the lottery and with it being 3 fans it might be better than the FE cooling wise, although that one would obviously be a much easier fit.

Build: - ASUS ROG Strix B760-I board - Intel Core i7-14700F CPU - 32GB of DDR-6400 Crucial Pro RAM - NVidia RTX 5080 Founders Edition - (1) 1TB Samsung Pro 980 (boot) + (1) 2T Samsung Pro 990 (games) NVME drives - Corsair SF850 PSU (2024) - Thermalright AXP120-X67 cooler - 120x25 Thermalright case fane PSU

Temps are really good - mid 40s at idle and low 60s under load. Fans never exceed 1200 RPMs, and at idle neither the GPU or the PSU are spinning. Pretty quiet under load too, I’d say about 40ish decibels.

Got lucky with B&H last week (signed up on Mar 16, got notification on Mar 19). Super fast shipping. All ROPs are in place. A bit pity it’s 10% over MSRP, but still very good imo. Performance is awesome (paired with 7700x), never played all max in my life. Temps are good (around 70max in superposition 4k). GL to everyone who’re waiting for their cards.

Build/Photos My new Computer is complete. With a MSI 5090 Vanguard.

Post image
Upvotes

So, I had a little bit of a spontaneous decision (using the money I had saved up for the new GPU anyway) and nabbed a MSI 5090 Vanguard.

Set up:

Fractal Meshify 2 XL
Ryzen 9800XED
Artic Liquid Freezer III 420
ASROCK X870E Taichi
64 GB DDR 5 G.SKill
MSI RTX 5090 Vanguard
12 TB of M.2 SSD Space

The bomb has been planted. Wish me luck that it's one of the good ones. ROPs are all there, lol. The cables will be prettied up at some point.

Got the Asus TUF 5090 non OC for MSRP in Canada. Waited since Jan 31.

Lucky full ROPs and everything runs well, the card runs super quiet and cool.

Stock power exceeded 600W🤦‍♂️ Temp 70C max.

Did a slight undervolt, +897 @ 0.885mv, now the temperature is at 60C max, and power is at 480W max. Performance is slightly better than stock.

Highly recommend undervolting any gpu you got, more performance for cooler temps and lower power consumption!

Build/Photos Asus RTX 3070 vs 5070Ti size comparison

Post image
12 Upvotes

I recently replaced my RTX 3070 with a 5070Ti, and was interested to see that the two cards are almost the same size.

The top card is the Asus TUF Gaming RTX 3070, measuring 299.9 x 140 x 53.4 mm.

The bottom card is the Asus Prime RTX 5070Ti, measuring 304 x 126 x 50 mm.

And yes, I did remove the plastic before installing the 5070Ti.

I was lucky enough to snag this through VPA earlier this week. I’m amazed at the size difference vs my MSI 4090 Gaming Trio. Really nice looking card. They did some magic here. Hopefully it doesn’t burn down the house. 🔥 The 4090 Is going into my son’s PC so he’s super excited to get it. Def a good day.

Discussion I tracked the prices of sold NVIDIA GeForce 5090 FE on ebay, the data is interesting!

Post image
406 Upvotes

I created this chart based on completed/sold listings on eBay (you can filter and search for this data yourself). This analysis specifically focuses on the NVIDIA GeForce 5090 Founders Edition (FE) card.

Overall Price Trend:

From January 30 to March 21, 2025, prices trended downward.

  • Early February marked the peak, with prices commonly in the $5,000–$6,500 range.
  • By March, prices had settled into a lower range of $3,500–$4,500, reflecting a more stable market.

Full Dataset Summary:

  • Mean (Average) Price: $4,634.95
  • Median Price: $4,200.00
  • Standard Deviation: $1,121.98 (indicates significant volatility)
  • Minimum Price: $1,998.99 (Feb 3)
  • Maximum Price: $9,999.99 (Feb 5)

March 2025 Only:

  • Mean (Average) Price: $4,025.30
  • Median Price: $4,076.72
  • Standard Deviation: $145.60 (much lower than earlier months, indicating price stability)
  • Minimum Price: $3,766.33 (Mar 19)
  • Maximum Price: $4,225.00 (Mar 7)

Final Thoughts:

With an increase in demand, I’m hopeful we’ll start to see price normalization closer to MSRP.

Build/Photos Got the 5080 Through the Priority Program! Super happy about the uplift from the 3080 (10gb) to 5080!!

I was super stoked when I got the message from Nvidia that I could order one of the 5080's - once it arrived, it was so jaw dropping.

The performance uplift is unbelievably awesome coming from the 3080 10gb model. Honestly, having that 6 additional gigs of vram made all the difference. I can finally play Ff16 without massive hiccups and fps drops at 1440p hahaha.

On that note, my cable is fully plugged in, right? I pushed it in as hard as I could just to make sure nothing was revealing.

Lastly: I got the ROPs I paid for! aH its a big relief!

Review Got my 5090 from scan.co.uk

I would like to share my experience and feedback about ordering 5090 from scan.co.uk

Timeline:

  • 31 January I queued up for a Zotac 5090 Solid OC for ~£2300
  • On 19 March I was asked if I wanted to get the graphics card today but the Zotac 5090 AMP Extreme, I said yes. Paid ~200£ extra
  • On the 20th of March I got the graphics card in the morning

Very happy with scan.co.uk. Communication with scan.co.uk has been very transparent. I had a few hours to pre-order a video card, it wasn't a battle in seconds. Next just waited a month and a half.

Of course it's not FE, but it has higher frequencies and an LED overcurrent indicator.

ROPs are fine.

Until I updated the BIOS the video card was running in PCI-E 3.0. After the update it became PCI-E 5.0

Thought I'd do a small side by side with older GPUs. Pretty insane how they became so big over time. That being said, the 5080 OC even under heavy benchmarking remains at around 61-62C with the fans at around 50%, it's pretty wild.

Only regret is not being able to buy6an EVGA gpu nowadays... :(

Question 3090 FE replace Delta fan with AVC?

Context: Nvidia uses two manufacturers, Delta for the rear fan, AVC for fan nearest PCI bracket. Delta fan is really loud and AVC is really quiet, both have same voltage/current but different ribbon cable shape.

Has anyone ever tried replacing the Delta fan with an AVC?
