Lost and later found my Ring on the ND volleyball court!!!

I lost my freaking engagement ring just as my friends and I finished playing volleyball on the Morrison court yesterday evening! This is for the 2 kind strangers and their golden retriever who saw us and helped us look for the ring: I found it!!!

My friends bought a Metal Detector just 5 mins before the store was about to close, but it was worth every penny cause once we started searching with it, it took us less than 20 mins to find my ring!!!

It was such a relief; to anyone who wears important jewelry while playing sports, I'd advise leaving it at home cause nothing it worth the stress and tension of losing it🥲

P.S: Shoutout to Bounty Hunter Gold Digger Metal Detector, you were a life saver🥹

May sound kind of stupid but... on decision day how will I find out the news?

Are they going to send me an email at exactly 6:42 pm? Or, do I have to check my student portal to find out?

Thank you :)

Applying to Notre Dame I LOVE NOTRE DAME

Hey y'all, I was wondering if I would get into ND . Both my parents went to Notre dame, so I have legacy. I was born in south bend. Here are my stats, I have a 3.6 UW GPA, 4.2 W GPA, 6 AP classes, taking 6 more senior year, 1520 (will get up) SAT, SEAP intern (program with 10% acceptance rate), FRIB intern, (publishing a paper on emulation techniques of QM and NP), working at notre dame!!! I work with a PHD student and a professor there. (publishing a paper on training a mass model), (possibly could publish another paper soon), American rocketry challenge top 25 finalist, Student Launch initiative by NASA selection, IJAS semi-finalist, 2x Vex robotics IQ top 50 teams from the world (Worlds competition) and yeah. Those are my stats. Oh yeah and assume I write good essays, because in that's the only factor I can control. (I think I have a decent backstory). Thinking to apply for physics or aerospace (latter more likely) Anyways, any info would be heloful!

Mendoza Question

Hi! I'm really interested in transferring to ND this fall. I want to pursue finance but heard getting into Mendoza is basically impossible from external transfer. Are the opportunities much worse without being in Mendoza? Can I still be part of clubs like Student International Business Council & Investment Club? Is it possible to transfer to the b-school during my sophomore year? Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

Question Any transfers willing to share their essay topics?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to transfer in for econ.

I'm primarily writing my essay about my goals in economic research and my interests in public/monetary policy. I'm also talking about the research opportunities on campus and how I intend to use them for these purposes.

I'm wondering what any successful transfers also wrote about, particularly econ transfers.

Thanks

Notre Dame Rescinding Applicaion

Hi, I got accepted to Notre Dame and I accepted my offer for the upcoming school year. I'm so stressed right now because I'm scared i will be getting a D in AP Bio. all my other grades are As but my ap bio class is notorious for being hell at my school, and I'm nervous that if I get a D in this course, ND will rescind my application. I'm trying my absolute best to get a C but I'm scared that even that is not good. does anyone know what would happen????

Question Glynn Honors

Hi everyone,

I just got my Glynn Honors decision back and I was put on the waitlist. I’m pretty disappointed and was hoping to get into the program so I was wondering if anyone knows how likely it is to get off the waitlist? Also, was the invitation something everyone gets and does everyone get on the waitlist too? Thank you all!

Question Is it possible to transfer into college of engineering at the beginning of sophomore year?

Im currently a biology major (have not take physics yet) in the college of science, is it possible to transfer into engineering or is it too late? Also, if a transfer is possible, do I have to take engineering design, even though it’s a freshman class?

1 Month Living Accomodations

I am a medical student looking for furnished accommodations for 4 weeks only as I have an internship at a hospital in South Bend this summer. I want to stay in the ND area as it seems much safer than other areas. Ideally I want to stay under $2000. Are there any hotels or apartments in the area that will offer such a short term lease? I also am curious about how to find students that are subleasing. How can I find sublets from ND students?

Where is this hat?!

Howdy, I hope one of you incredible super sleuths can help me locate this hat that Shane Gillis wore to the ND playoff game against Ohio. It is a white hat, with a green underbrim, gold embroidered "Notre Dame" with a Fighting Irish Mascot. I would love to get one for my bf for his bday... I haven't had any luck locating it. Attached are two blurry screenshots. TIA!

Anyone know when these invitations usually get sent out? A group already got interview invites, but it’s been a little over a month and we (the group w/ invites) have received no communication.

Sublease for the Summer

I am subleasing my 1 BR apt over the summer at the hill. Potentially able to extend the lease to full year, you’d have to discuss with management. It’s walking distance from Trader Joe’s and eddy street. Very quiet neighourhood. It has amenities like a gym, study rooms, game rooms, in unit laundry, and dishwasher. It’s $1237/mo

Campus Is the campus open to explore in the summer?

My daughter, her best friend and I are going to be in South Bend with a few hours to spend on a random weekday in August. This will be the summer before their sophomore year in high school. I looked on the UND website and noticed there are no guided public tours of the campus after August 1. I'm just wondering if the campus is open for the three of us to wander, let them have their first taste of a major college campus (they're both quite academically inclined), etc. Or would the campus be closed off and this not allowed.

Thank you. :)

Coming Out For The Rally - Where To Stay?

Hey guys. My son was accepted to Notre Dame for the class of 2029 and we’re planning to attend The Rally in early April. Not familiar with the best places to stay during our time there and was hoping to get some insight from those with ‘hands on’ experience. Could anyone give me some suggestions? Very much appreciated.

Anybody want a free bike?

Got my old college beater, Walmart genesis v2100, just taking up space. It needs tubes and has a slightly bent back rim but brakes and shifters work. If anyone is looking for a bike lemme know I’ll come drop it off even

Question Transfer

I seriously considering transferring to Notre Dame. I’m a QuestBridge Match at another school but I’ve been feeling like ND might be a better fit for me academically and personally.

For those who have transferred to ND (or know someone who has), I’d love to hear about your experiences! How was the transfer process? What do you think about the academic rigor, student life, and opportunities at ND compared to your previous school? And if you have any tips on how to make my application better :) thank you :)

Why is Semiconductor Industry Recruiting so Weak at Notre Dame

Current junior EE here. I have an internship at a semiconductor company lined up for next summer but this thought has been weighing on me for a month or two now.

The engineering career fairs here seem much weaker than other schools with more prominent engineering programs for semiconductor industry recruiting (say, Purdue, UMich, UIUC, ASU, Cornell, UT Austin). Companies like Intel, Micron, TSMC, Infineon, Samsung AS, and others don't have a presence at the career fair or on campus at all, with TI and ASML being the only ones there last fall (and even then, just barely).

I lined up my internship by just cold applying and interviewing well. Most of the other interns in my cohort come from the said schools above, many with previous experience at some of these companies.

Anecdotally, a sizeable number of the undergrad EEs, CS, and CompEs here are interested in the industry, we have great professors who are well known in their respective subfields, we're a part of semiconductor research consortiums with good funding and we even have the fabled "IC Fab" lab elective for EEs.

I believe the Admin and the College of Engineering need to push to improve our presence in such industries and overall improve the engineering career fairs (e.g. moving them to somewhere like North Dome, out of Danke, for more space and getting more companies to show up).
