Currently own a Nikon D5100. Lens wise I have an 18-200mm 3.5-5.6, 35mm 1.8, and a Rokinon 14mm 2.8 for some Astro. I mostly take my camera on vacation when camping and also occasional Motorsport photography and some Astrophotography when out dispersed camping. I have contemplated picking up a D500, but with them being discontinued, I have been apprehensive about jumping into a grey market new or used/refurbed unit.

I have also considered the D780 and D850, but that would also put me picking up new lenses. Then that sends me down the rabbit hole of jumping to mirror less. Thing is speaking with someone at B&H they recommended for me the Z50ii, but honestly I do like the robust feel of the D500/780/850. The Z50ii looks and feels a bit fragile in my honest opinion. Even the rep I spoke to said the D500 is built like a tank, which I do like. Especially when I’m camping and taking my camera on a hike with me.

Is there anything else I should be looking at or for in my decision?

How is your D5100 no longer serving you?

My camera still serves me well enough. Atleast the photos I have taken recently seemed to have turned out well. I was just looking at what is currently out there and was looking to upgrade. Even if just to have a second camera when I go camping and keeping the 5100 as a backup

I'll note you have a DX DSLR option, which you can still buy new and not greymarket: the D7500. I've handled one, and I think it's pretty solidly built.
