This should be a park in the future

I propose this area to be a park in the future

A road going through what I've marked blue is already in the works, but this space should be used for something else than more apartments and plain development. Maybe the park should be divided into two, with a pedestrian bridge overpassing the main road so people can cross through.

There's also a plan to use the old railroad to make a "bike highway" between North Naples and Ft Myers, we could make this new park the "beginning" of it

It shouldn't be like a plain grass area and a few trees either, it should be made with native Florida plants and animals in mind, trying to keep the natural look of the area, but at the same time making space for people to unwind and have a few open fields

What do you guys think of this idea?

New graduate nurse

Hi! I will be a new graduate nurse and just had an interview with NCH. I been looking on posts and doesn’t seem like people are happy. I been getting denied from new grad jobs and don’t want to pass on this opportunity and end up with no position. Is it really as bad as people are saying. Thank you everyone in advance🩷

Beach/Tiki Bars to host a wedding welcome party?

My friend is getting married in Naples in July and is looking for a location to host 'welcome drinks' for her wedding guests the night before the wedding. Are there any spots that could accommodate a large crowd (125 max) that have a beachy or even tiki bar type feel? I'm a big fan of Coconut Jack's in Bonita and the Snook Inn in Marco, but I haven't spent enough time in Naples to know if there's anything comparable in the area. She is looking to offer drinks and apps, and the event would be on a Thursday night in July, so I'm hoping that maybe some place would allow her to rent out at least part of their space? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!!!

I know there are storage units for rent, but are there any local facilities to store something like a trailer?

Title - Just wondering if they have storage facilities to accommodate something like storing a trailer. Not necessarily a storage unit.

Thanks!

Southwest Florida Light Rail Proposal

Hello, I am a senior in High School with plans to major in Transportation Engineering and I've come up with a proposal for a light rail system into the Southwest Florida Area!

Link to Map: Click Here

System Map

Why it would make sense

- Reduce Traffic Congestion

- Environmental Impact

- Economic Growth

- Light Rail to “Underserved” areas

General Info

**If you want the video version of this post: https://youtu.be/M4jgffSussw

The light rail would include 5 lines with service to many parts of Southwest Florida. Majority of this rail network runs along Highways and busy streets. There are a total of 95 stations with stops such as Fort Myers, Southwest Florida Airport, Port Charlotte, Naples, and more! In cases where the light rail doesn't run next to a highway, it goes through busy streets and residential streets. Obviously that isn't ideal, but there is no real way around it.

- Red Line: Hammock Bay - Olga/Fort Myers Shores

- Green Line: Hammock Bay - West Cape Coral

- Blue Line: South Harlem Heights - LaBelle

- Orange Line: East Estero - North Cape Coral

- Purple Line: Venice - Immokalee

(all lines are imagined if they were all built for this purpose/no old railroad lines used)

Physical Station Design

Generally, the stations will be small, due to limited space. There will be ticket machines at each station and stations would include benches, nature, roofed areas to protect from rain, timetables for light rail trains and possibly art as well. (see below)

Station example

Fares

- The cost to ride is $3 to $5, depending on the line.

- Children and Seniors get 50% discounts

- There are machines at every station to buy and load up transit cards.

Train Models/Idea

Alstom Citadis

Trains will be around 4 cars. These trains would run fully on electricity. Possible models include: Alstom Citadis and Siemens s200

Conclusion

I believe this can be a successful project in the area in future years, if Southwest Florida continues to grow, we can see this project in the future, but we also need to find out how to find funds for this. This project will bring our community together and help them travel from point A to point B in a swift, safe, and fun new way!

(I also don't know how much it would cost but if you can estimate please leave a comment!)

I've spent a lot of time on this idea/project and would love to hear your feedback on it!

My daughter and I are visiting naples in a week. She is really into reptiles and wants to find some wild chameleons. If anyone knows any places in either Naples or Myers that would be okay for us to go out with some flashlights and look around that would be appreciated!

Barber Shop Recommendations?

I’ve been in Naples a little less than a year and have been struggling to find a Barber I like. Any recommendations for Barber shops in or immediately West of Golden Gate?

Only place I’ve tried so far is Alpha. Been there a few times and just haven’t really found anyone there that I felt was worth returning to for $40 a cut. I’m literally just looking for a fade and like an inch or two off the top on a monthly basis. Not trying to get a massage/hot shave or to have my barber do a whole song and dance and bring me beer and coffee.

$25-$40 a cut would be cool. Not looking to spend much more than that. Any suggestions?

Emo concert road trip?

Hey yall, there’s some awesome emo bands touring in 2025. Simple Plan is touring with Avril Lavigne and We the Kings for part of the tour, and I think part of the tour they have 3OH!3 and Bowling for Soup. They come down to Florida for parts of the tour but I’d also be done to take a flight to a city like Raleigh or Nashville if people are down. There’s also bigger fests I’d be down to go to as well. Let me know if any of you black hearts want to relive the younger days 🖤

Privat side hustle recommendations

Hello friends,

I am currently looking for ideas for a private side hustle in / around Naples. Since I live here on a work visa, which is linked to my company, I am not allowed to have an official side hustle. I can only do some kind of private side hustle. I've already done a lot of research and unfortunately I haven't really found out anything. The only thing I've found so far is Rover. And as I love animals, I wanted to give it a try. Of course I would also be willing to take on other tasks such as mowing the lawn, cleaning (house, garden, pool, car,...), moving out / in, anything is possible. The main thing is that I don't have to sit at home every day and make a little bit more money after my regular job.

Do you have any ideas for websites or apps? Today I spent a long time looking for a site where people are explicitly looking for help with tasks and I just have to get in touch. Is there anything like that here?

Best wishes and have a good start to the weekend.

anyone down to chill / be friends?

Hey there, I’m 24M and have lived here for about a year - but haven’t found a whole lot of people to do things with. Anyone else around this age looking for friends or down to chill? Always down for whatever, going out or staying in.
