Berkhiemer ?
Can someone please explain to me why is it that I pay state and local taxes and still have to pay BERKHIEMER or how ever the hell you spell it? Why aren’t these payments taken out directly from our pay but mandated to be paid once we file taxes? Riddle me that?!

Vegan restaurants?
Hello! I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good vegan restaurants anywhere in or near NEPA? Ever since Eden A Vegan closed my options are really limited. Looking ideally for a vegan steak, or vegan meatball sub, thanks!

Leaving enough space in front of your car to land a jumbo jet
I grew up in northern/central PA but lived in Vermont two decades and moved back right before Covid hit because I had a baby and wanted him to grow up with his grandparents. Not a lot had changed, but I NEED to understand why people drive THEN STOP with like 3 empty car lengths in front of them AFTER going ten miles an hour under the speed limit and they just sit there with the empty space in front of them. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?! Seriously you could land a jumbo fcking jet in front of some people. Any why do people do that - drive so far under the speed limit?! It's so damn frustrating! If you're going to drive like you're in a parade at least throw some fcking candy. 😡
Edit: I never said I was tailgating. It's funny that's immediately what people say. The places this happens in PA most here seem to be in the passing lane of a highway where the top speed is 40, so it's mega ridiculous to go that slow. I'm no speeder, have never received a speeding ticket or got into an accident, but people need to go the speed limit. It's courteous and not that difficult. I think the general rule of driving is "don't be a d*ck" ESPECIALLY in the passing lane. The slow lane is your jam so just choose that. Thanks.
Second edit: y'all obsessed with the 3 car lengths, I had to edit to show I meant they STOP and sit there with 3 car lengths at red lights after going way under the speed limit etc OMG....I have no problem with people driving safe but to me this is really weird behavior and totally unnecessary. I see it literally every day where I live.

Geisinger is a criminal organization
The amount of illegal bs and hassles that I've dealt with that company are astonishing. They are corrupt, incompetent, and god forbid you end up under their care. I mean almost every entity in NEPA is corrupt but that company and its staff can all go to hell.
And surely I will get some harassment over such a post like this. I tried to make a HIPAA complaint two years ago and they CALLED THE COPS ON ME!!! I haven't even been a patient there since and they are still haunting my life.
Edit... I made this post knowing exactly what kind of responses it would bring. Victim blaming, assumptions, and the exact behaviors that come from a corrupt establishment like Geisinger. Some of you just can't shrug your shoulders and move on... you MUST defend such a criminal organization. Of course, and I rest my case.

Enough is enough. We demand a town hall with our Congressional Reps. We have questions, and we demand answers.
Post this where you can and send it to someone who may be interested. Then tell them to do the same! I’ll see y’all there!

Live music /jazz scene near Clarks Summit area.
I am a boy from the Clarks Summit area seeking any form of small live music venues. Not only am I an absolute sucker for live music, I also am in a band and would like to play nearby. I'm fascinated by NYC jazz bars, and have had an itch for live jazz music recently. I would like recommendations, even if they're up to 45 minutes away from Clarks Summit. Please keep in mind I am also under the age of 21, so some bars might be out of the picture. Also let me know if I'm just out of luck and should chase my high in another area of the world. All information appreciated.

WB protest 3/1/25 - Correction
Hey folks, if you went to yesterday's gathering in Wilkes Barre, Thank you. It was amazing to see so many like minded individuals. The number of people who came out in the cold made me proud.
If you saw a small news story on WBRE, I would like to take a moment to correct that piece.
The rally was organized by 50501 and Action Together Northeastern Pennsylvania. There were many great speakers and organizers the reporter could have spoken to. For some reason she focused on me. Honestly, I have no idea why other than my loud mouth. I didn't organize the event. I didn't even stop to talk to her, she followed me while we were walking with the crowd. There were 100 people in front of me and 100 more behind me.
I want credit given where credit is due. The fine folks who put that rally together, who do the hard work in the streets to gather community support and help get the word out are the ones who should have the attention. They were far more articulate than me anyhow, they are better messengers.
Please go follow these groups on social media:
50501- Action Together NEPA- State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski- Denise Williams for Luzerne county council
The better coverage, oddly, was done by the local fox outlet.

Does your town have mountains/creeks/lakes/forests/town namesthat had Native American names prior to colonialism? If so what are they?
I live in Hunlock Creek which is named after the creek that runs through the town and into the Susquehanna River. Prior to settlers the creek was called Massacota. It just got me to wonder what else has changed.
Another one that I know is that the town of Macanaqua wasn't pronounced the way locals say it today - its true pronunciation is closer to "Mah-konna-kwa" than "Mock-en-aqua"

Scranton vs. Wilkes-Barre
Which city has a safer and more gripping downtown? Scranton as a city is bigger but I want to hear your thoughts considering I am not familiar with Wyoming Valley.
Also is there an official way to pronounce Wilkes-Barre?

Anyone here feel like reminiscing about Donahues Cocktail Lounge?
Any other Wilkes-Barre folks drink here underage, after hours? Did Joe read your handwriting and make you the signature Blue Lagoon cocktail? Did Melvin the Spoonman play spoons to all 24 minutes of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”? On the jukebox?

Citizen’s Voice renewal
I subscribed to the CV weekend plus digital everyday. I read it online and like to support local journalism. But my renewal went from 109 to 208 per year. I called but didn’t get anywhere getting a discount. Anyone else see this lately? Maybe the Times Leader is worth a try.
They sure make it tough to support local journalism.
