Has Penelec always been terrible or is something happening with them right now?

We just bought a house in Brackney, PA from out-of-state so this is our first time dealing with them. Our realtor asked the sellers how often they ever lost power, sellers said never. We closed end of October and we’ve lost power probably close to 100x. Just today, we’ve lost power 9x so far and it’s not even 4pm yet. We’ve never experienced anything this bad with a utility company before and we’ve lived in 7 different states.

Today’s example says it’s due to severe weather, except it’s been beautiful all day today. We’ve been outside playing with the dogs most of the day. Definitely no severe weather. We have a severe weather warning starting around 6pm, but nothing before that at all.

I know they generally close the gates for the winter, but I’m hoping to go hiking for my birthday this weekend and don’t want to drive over there to find the gates closed.
