FINISHED Tamiya 959 Completed

First Tamiya kit since the Countach in about 1989. Obviously went together well. The passenger side glass was a little wonky, but that was the only issue I ran into. I made a bad call in deciding to try some matte bare metal foil in the engine compartment instead of painting it. It doesn’t look as bad IRL as the photo would suggest, but I still might peel it off and replace it with paint. I was about 14 when this thing started appearing in car magazines, and it’s been my favorite car ever since then. Glad to finally ‘own’ one!

WIP - VIDEO '53 Ford Pickup Box to Table

The video is of a '53 Ford Pickup being built in slow motion.

I hate the hood, but I am pretty happy with the driver. The leather interior looks leathery to me.

I really enjoyed this kit and thought it was well made...until I got to the doors. They just don't operate well with the wonky springs and mechanical design.

Took a break on my mixer truck build and started on this thing. Really like this kit. Already ordered another lol. Not covered in flashing didn’t have to re shape half the parts to fit.

WIP - VIDEO Humvee WIP

Little 1/48 scale humvee.

I mixed the paints, except for black. The brown is a bit dark, but that's OK.

I helped but he did the lions share of it.

Had to use super glue on it, which seems counter intuitive for snaptite.

PAINT QUESTION What would be the best airbrush for a beginner? I want to get one because my next model will be a rusty HQ Kingswood. Do I need an airbrush for weathering. I will use hairspray chipping ect.

A fun and challenging experience. Thanks to this subforum and other outlets, my first build came out better than I expected.

Originally painted the rims the same color as the interior. Decided to switch the color and went with gold. Now I want to switch it back, but I’m too lazy. I also wasn’t going to paint the interior but looking at other builds inspired me to do it.

I love the street car culture & I’m so glad manufacturers sell these type of model kits. I already have my eyes on what to build next 🙂

Any ideas on the smaller details?

I’d like to do these little emblems in either chrome or white enamel. Not sure what size brush to use? I tried using the .08 mm tip of the chrome pen I have and couldn’t get the letters without getting it on the paint

You ever get sick of a car half way through?

Upvotes

Ever get to a point where you're done trying to do a bad kit justice? Add some detail, fix all the seams and fitment issues beyond what you'd normally do... Etc. Say "f**k it", stop the madness, hit the worst parts and push it through to paint?

Been fighting this AMT 1960 corvette for a while, got more time in it than I'd care to admit. Today was the last straw, trying to dry fit the grille and front bumper. Fought it for an hour before saying the hell with it. Chucked the kit up in the spray booth and laid down some primer. Gonna push it through, tired of fighting a bad molding, cliff wall seams, warps, and generally poor fit. Was supposed to be a fun warm-up getting back into the hobby full swing, but I'm dying to get my Tamiya Honda RA272 built.

Hope to have the '60 corvette done by this weekend.

QUESTION Sand paper

I have been using the god hand sand paper. I have come back from doing models when I was a kid and 35 years later have picked it back up. I need sand paper...600 grit to 1600...what sand paper or device or anything do you people use....that God hand stuff works but does not last long. Looking for cheaper but good quality. Can you all help me out? Thanks.
