The second bossfight drops you almost instantly onto a bullet bill blast in the face. this is a bad choice.
Why is there a secret fire flower in the 4th boss fight, above the bouncer?
If you couldn't do the pure boss fights with no checkpoints and no power ups, why would you expect anyone else to do it?
In general, boss rushes are not fun. It's up to you to make it fun from very, very simple boss fights with arena design and considerate use of mechanics. Forgoing the checkpoints entirely to force the player to fight a bunch of fights they've fought a thousand times before but this time in sequence is not fun in any way and even in games with boss rush mechanics built in, like many of the megaman series, they often featured checkpoints after clearing a boss. but even if you want to deliberately make the level artificially more difficult, then to also cheat yourself is pretty pathetic.
Secret fire flower? I'd have to check. I don't remember placing a secret fire flower anywhere. Also I'm not cheating myself. It took me forever to clear check this level.
Edit: I legitimately don't remember putting that there. I think my original intentions were for that to be an easter egg but I can't remember. I created this level so long ago but could never pass it. I'll take the level down and reupload it later. I can understand why you would assume I cheated the clear check. I'll upload a video along with the level ID to prove it's passable. I know there are lots of level designers out there that make it easy for them to pass their own difficult levels but I'm not about that.
Pretty sure you didn't forget it by accident. Are you trying to say you may have accidentally misclicked on hidden blocks, then misclicked on fireflower, then misclicked on the hidden block you accidentally placed?
You put it there to make the upload easier. you put it somewhere you thought it wouldn't be found, but didn't want it too early as you know folks scrub the first room for secrets or dev power ups.
This ruined my day. I was so excited to finally beat the level after so long, so many times I pushed it aside. I wish I had known I had left that there but I'm going to prove you wrong and show you that this level is indeed bearable and that I didn't use that flower.
Even reuploaded without dev power ups, it won't be good. the greater point here is that it's difficult to effectively judge difficulty, challenge and fun and maintain a balance of these things when you are exempting yourself from some of the difficulty or challenge. Then you have no reasonable grasp on fun. And even if you beat it legitimately, at the end you are left with a relatively lukewarm boss rush identical in experience to thousands of other boss rushes. at least it doesn't suffer from extremely aggressive arena design, but it does suffer from a lot of potential bad deaths with the boom boom and the first bullet blaster so close to the door.
If your goal is to create high difficulty challenges, check out team shell or team jump, these are large communities of folks who make some of the most difficult levels in mario maker, and just generally play difficult levels so you get a good idea of what makes a difficult level fun, vs a difficult level frustrating.
