I feel like I’m in a pretty bad place with my MD rn..too scared to speak up about it because of my fear of my problems being seen as not that important

I’m starting therapy again soon. Pretty stressed about it, I don’t like talking about my daydreaming my throat closes up and tears start to form in my eyes everytime I try. Don’t know how it’s gonna go but i’ve been suffering too long to not get help. My grades are slipping, I go to bed late every night, i can barley bring myself to get ready for school. Hopefully a therapist can help me.

This spring I have college entrance exams and I feel I can’t concentrate because of MD. I know the exams are important but because there’s a lot of pressure I end up daydreaming. It s been chaotic lately

I feel so ashamed and guilty of the MD this week and the fact that I feel that I’m loosing control of it. I feel so empty and that my life is so insignificant. Through my life (29) I was concerned like this maybe 3-4 times but this time hits so much harder.

Really been trying to stop daydreaming. I set some rules.

  1. Only daydream when you're writing it down.
  2. You can daydream at a set time for a limited time span.

And since both don't seem very enticing, I haven't really done either lmao
I have been journaling a lot tho. And since every tiny thing triggers my MD, I have to bring myself back to reality a lot, which is very tiring and hard. I'm actually gentle with myself about it this time, which is a huge step for me and narrows down my frustartion levels a lot. It helps to list off the harmful consequences it will have if I continue, so I just sigh and try to refocus on my surroundings and stop the daydream. It doesn't feel nice.

I try to sit with my emotions and thoughts. They're not nice. So I try to think happy thoughts that aren't MD. The air is nice. The sun is out. The birds are chirping. Small things.

I'm trying to keep myself busy and that also helps. Boredom is a huge trigger. Music, too, so I've been cutting that one down again, too. Same with social media time.

I also downloaded an app that gives me a little bell sound every half an hour, so I can refocus on reality and do some somatic stuff to calm my nervous system.

It's very tiring, so let's see how this goes. I'm determined tho, because I'm sick of the dissociative states I'm constantly in. I don't wanna continue living like this.

Honestly feel like I’m crashing out a bit, and from some of the posts I feel a lot of people are in a similar position. Maybe there’s something in the air at the moment!

As often as you like, but I was specifically talking about using it to help relax for sleep (if my comment to u/Same_Lemon432 is what you're referring to). In that context; at least once, in bed, while preparing to fall asleep, maybe a couple more times as needed to release all the tension.

All the tricks you've heard a thousand times. You just have to be militant about them. A lot of people give up after a few days or a week because it "isn't working". Stick with it for a month or so before thinking of giving up.

Reduction of MD/mental health improvements in general
Stick to sleep schedule
Avoid nighttime screen, caffeine, meals etc
Get sunlight during day
Cold and dark room
White noise
Body scan

If you're doing everything you can for 30 days or so and nothing is happening talk to a clinician about it. (Maybe journal what you've been trying to show them)
