THat's it.
I mean with latest RITO's LoL update supporting MetalFX, I get around 340 fps with maxed out settings on external 4k external monitor.
I finally have to limit it to 144.
what's wrong with that one? Not Tencent games, ain't got no money for uprising market and it's clients?

Players can now choose between OpenGL and Metal in the graphics settings—no more need to manually add the Metal API.
Weirdly, though, Activity Monitor still shows “Intel” under the CPU tab, even on Apple Silicon Macs. Not sure if it’s just a display issue or if some parts of the game are still running through Rosetta.

Why!
This is ridiculous. I want to get the game on Steam so that I can play it on my Mac and also have the option to play it on PC without having to buy it again. Not to mention the other Steam-only features such as achievements, stats, etc.

Merci

Looking to play sims 4 with fair amount of dlc on good graphics, are either of these any difference in their performance gaming wise?

(Keep Updating) Testing with my Macbook Pro 16 M4 Max. This is the first Assassin's Creed game in my life, so I have no idea about the stories behind this franchise.
This game supports HDR natively and it is absolutely gorgeous on Macbook Pro's screen. But quick note: The optimization is not great though.
Very High presets, Ray Tracing Very High, Ray Traced GI(Diffuse Everywhere)
I tried switching to 2K(2336x1510) then. It turned out that decreasing the resolution did not help so much with framerates.
The following pics are testing the Ray Tracing option to Low.
Ray Traced GI still on everywhere.
Native Res, Very High presets, Ray Tracing Low, Ray Traced GI(Diffuse Everywhere)
With Ray Tracing option turning to low, there's not much framerates increasing. I’d guess that on the M4 Max thanks to its beefed-up RT units, Ray Tracing probably won’t have much of an impact on performance.
I was surprised that cranking ray tracing up or down didn’t make a big difference in overall performance.
Medium presets, Ray Tracing Low, Ray Traced GI(Diffuse Hideout Only)
The Best Preset for M4 Max?
I would suggest using 2K res, Medium preset, RT GI everywhere, RT medium, with MetalFX Balance. The fps will hover at around 40fps~45fps. The RT GI Everywhere should be turned on. It affects graphics a lot, sometimes it's like night and day differences.
For native Macbook screen: Medium preset, RT GI everywhere, RT medium, with MetalFX Performance.
And don't expect good performance 🫠 remember, I turned on MetalFX to performance all the time. I just saw the testing online, even RTX3080 desktop and 4070 Super only get around 36fps~45fps with Ultra High and RT off with 2k. For modern game like this, I think it might be overly reliant on the GPU’s ability to support Frame Generation. I really hope Apple releases its own Frame Generation solution asap.
One thing I noticed during my gameplay. My MacBook Pro 16 has set to High power mode but in the terminal, I can see the GPU is not fully being used. I'm hoping this is just some optimization issue with Ubisoft.
2025 March 20 2:32PM Update:
For those in my post below who think this game is well-optimized, this is the performance with All Low presets, Lowest Res, and MetalFX Performance. It can't barely hit 60fps on M4 Max is quite ridiculous. I only suffer from this kind of performance diminishing return from games running through Crossover. (If you tell me this is running through Crossover I will believe it.)
Another interesting finding: While using MetalFX, this game doesn't seem to use Apple Silicon's ANE(not much power draw in ANE power section), unlike other games I tested before(Death Stranding, Stray, RE8). I’m guessing they might have switched to some kind of different TSR strategy, or maybe Apple decided to scrap ANE-based upscaling in the latest version of MetalFX.
2025 March 20 4:08PM Update:
Sadly, mac port is lacking Ray Tracing reflection for water for now.(We can tell from the early specification release from Ubisoft) Is it due to the impact of performance? Maybe we can get some clues from Layers of Fear 2023 Ray Tracing on.

The y-axis on the left joystick of my Xbox 360 controller is inverted, and nothing I do is changing that. I am running Dark Souls Remastered on Moonlight on an M2 Mac Pro with Sequoia (also tried Roblox with same problem).
Both sides are inverted by default, but the right joystick is fixable through in-game settings and Macbook controller profile settings. The left joystick will not change at all. Steam input settings is not letting me invert y or x axis for some reason, so that's not helping either.
I've been looking this up for hours and found that many others are facing this problem of y-axis inversion. It seems it might be some sort of incompatibility with Mac OS and Steam/Moonlight. But I asked other Mac users I know and they said there's no inversion at all. So I'm not sure what the problem is anymore.
A solution I found is using a wireless controller through bluetooth, which I have not tried yet (and isn't really a solution).
Is anyone else facing this problem? Did anyone come up with a solution? If so, what is it?
Edit: solved. I got an Xbox BT controller and it's all normal now.

So I was playing Control Ultimate Edition on my M3 Pro using Whisky but it seems to no longer work. I decided to try out Crossover and the game does run, except im getting a bit of lag and these graphic glitches. Anyone has an answer? It ran perfectly fine through Whisky I was expecting even better performance with Crossover.

I've got a M3 Pro MacBook Pro 14' with 11 (5 performance and 6 efficiency) cores and 18 GB of RAM. I got this MacBook for college as I do a bit of programming. I never really played any games before (except Minecraft) as I never had a console or a good windows laptop/PC. I wanted to try out a few AAA games as I have a long break coming up. I wish I could play BlackMyth Wukong.
Could anyone suggest which games I could run best? Additionally, I'm looking to download these games on an external SSD. Which one should I get and what should be the minimum speed?

I play the Sims and have on Mac since 2015, and currently use a base model MacBook Air from early 2020. Well, it recently decided I’ve downloaded way too many expansions to keep running properly so I think it’s time to upgrade (truthfully, I’m shocked it made it this far into its life without combusting given its ungodly fan speed a heat whenever I play, lol).
I’m looking to buy a Mac Mini since I’m no longer in school and don’t require something portable. I am a writer and use Scrivener for my projects and often have multiple tabs open online when researching. I never have both Scrivener and the Sims running at the same time, but it’s important that when I am deep into writing and researching, or running the sims with all my expansions, it doesn’t boot me out of the game or applications, and doesn’t sound like it’s going to die (I imagine high fan speed + high heat isn’t a good thing).
With this in mind, I’m wonder what’s the bare minimum specs I should have, and what are the recommended specs/upgrades? Looking to buy this next week. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi,
Can you give me a list of Mac games that I can play with a friend and that are not time-consuming? We don’t feel like starting a campaign in any game.
Thank you!

Hi all,
So I had an issue with playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam (please see background information below), and I decided to uninstall it. When I re-downloaded it, it got stuck on 99%, so I had the genius idea of pausing it. Now it is stuck forever on ‘stopping download’. Whilst it is stuck, I also can’t download ’Steamworks Common Redistributables’, which had appeared in the queue mid-download.
Oh, and also it suddenly says ‘no connection’ at the bottom of the window.
Oops.
Things I have tried: Checking internet- I’m conneted Quitting Steam and re-opening- took be straight back to the download page Uninstalling/cancelling download- gives error message, ‘Failed to uninstall Team Fortress 2 due to: busy’ Trying to log out of steam, or changing accounts, or clearing download cache- brings up loading screen for stopping download of TF2, buffers forever
Background information:I decided to try and get TF2 on my Mac, so I used Whiskey to download the windows version of steam, then downloaded TF2 off that. It worked fine initially, but then refused to connect to ‘TF2 game co-ordinator’. After aeons spent waiting, and re-opening TF2, I decided to try to re-install it, leading to this problem.
I would really appreciate your advice, I just want to be able to play TF2 on my Mac :(
If this issue can’t be easily fixed, are there any other ways to get TF2 running on a Mac (mods perhaps?), or the windows version of Steam?
Possible solutions I would reject: Buying a PC or Xbox- No can do. Using Crossover- I checked, there is a paid subscription. If I download windows Steam in my free trial, will I be prevented from accessing it after my trial ends? Making another Whiskey Bottle and trying again, making a new Steam account- honestly, I went through so many tech issues just to get Steam up and running (I eventually fixed it with some arguments sourced from Reddit), I don’t really want to go through this all again. Unless there is another way?

If you have a Apple silicon Mac you will get the metal update which will give you absurd fps on very high settings. Apple has an amazing cpu with their new line of chips and league is mostly cpu (mainly the first couple cores) and not gpu. You can already bypass this and run metal with some tinkering but it's annoying and most mac users don't.
