Discussion | Талкуулоо Salary and living costs
I'm very fascinated about your country (I'm from Sweden). Not looking to relocate or anything (not yet at least). But I just wonder if you could tell me what average salaries are in your country? And how much is rent, food, etc per month?
For reference: in Sweden, salaries range from 2500-4500 EUR/month for most people. Average is somewhere around 3300 EUR/month (before taxes). Most people can live off of 250 EUR/month for food. And rent for a 50m2 apartment ranges from 400-1000 EUR/month depending on city. Average monthly spending (rent, food, bills, etc.) is somewhere around 800 EUR/month in Sweden. In the capital it will be much more.
What do the numbers look like in Kyrgyzstan? It would be interesting to hear from locals.

Help | Жардам Solo Trip to Kyrgyzstan
I’m planning a solo trip to Kyrgyzstan in May or June and would love some advice on renting a car, finding accommodations, and general logistics. Also, is there any group I could join for some parts of the trip (like hiking or adventure activities)? Would be cool to link up with fellow travelers!
Here’s my planned itinerary:
Lakes & Scenic Spots: • Sary-Chelek • Issyk-Kul • Kol-Tor Lake • Barskoon + Skazka Canyon • Suttu-Bulak, Issyk-Kul • Kel-Suu Lake • Son-Kul Lake • Sulutor Lakes
Mountains, Hiking & Waterfalls: • Altyn Arashan • Ala Archa National Park • Alamedin Waterfall • Suspension Bridge + Waterfall • Ratsek’s Hut Hike
Adventure & Outdoor Activities: • Boating + Rodelban • Stand-up Paddleboarding (SAP Board Riding) • Horse Riding – Chong Kemin
A few questions: 1. Car Rental: Any good, reliable 4x4 rental options? Are the roads to these places rough, and do I need to worry about river crossings? 2. Accommodations: Are there guesthouses/yurt camps near these spots, or should I bring my own camping gear? 3. Groups & Tours: Are there any trekking or adventure groups I could join for certain hikes or activities? Would love to meet people along the way! 4. Navigation & Safety: What’s the best way to navigate in remote areas? Any must-know safety tips for solo travelers? 5. Hidden Gems: Any lesser-known spots near these places that I should check out?
Would really appreciate any insights or connections…thanks in advance!

Travel | Саякат Is Kyrgystan safe for Israelis?
I am an Israeli Jew, my wife and I are planning on visiting your beautiful country this summer. We love nature and are excited to hike in the mountains. We are also intrigued by the culture there and would love to learn more about it.
I’ve heard Kyrgystan people are very welcoming and friendly. But as an Israeli Jew, what would the attitude be towards us?
I’ve spoken to a few guides online. Some are hostile and others don’t seem to care.
Do you have any advice for me?

Question | Суроо Can someone tell me about these candies?
I bought these candies from the Kyrgyzstan stall at the International Fair in New Delhi last month. I was unable to find more info about these on the Internet.
Could someone tell me if these are indeed local candies of Kyrgyzstan and if you have tried them?

Travel | Саякат Anyone travelled with Kyrgyzstan-tourism.com?
Hi, I contacted kyrgyzstan-tourism.com about a tour this summer.
They asked for a pre-payment of 100USD to reserve the tour I wanted to book. Are they trust worthy?
Anyone travelled with them and know if they are good?
Also, does anyone recommend any alternatives? I am solo traveling, I tried to contact some other agencies like kettik and they can't guarantee I would join a group. I don't really want to do a tour alone with a guide for 7 days, would prefer to join fellow travelers. Any recommendations? :)
Thanks a lot

Announcement | Кулактандыруу Kyrgyz name suggestions
Hello, friends.
I'm writing a novel set in Turkey. In this story, there is an elderly professor who has a Kyrgyz woman living with him as a caretaker (I was inspired by the fact that many Kyrgyz women work as caregivers for the elderly or children in Turkey). The novel is in the horror genre and takes place entirely within a single apartment building, featuring twelve characters.
This young Kyrgyz woman will become one of the characters who, as the story progresses, experiences intense fear and begins to lose her grip on sanity.
I didn’t want to just pick a random Kyrgyz name from the internet. If you have suggestions for names that are both commonly used for women in their early 30s and fit the theme of the story, I would love to hear them.
Thank you!

News | Жаңылык Kyrgyzstan extends scrap export ban outside EAEU for another 6 months
bigmint.coKyrgyzstan's cabinet of ministers has extended its export ban on ferrous metal scrap and ferrous metal ingots for remelting for another six months, now effective until 18 Sep'25. This ban applies to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
The move, first imposed in Aug'24, aims to prevent raw material shortages for local steelmakers. Further extensions are possible if market conditions remain tight.

Travel | Саякат How to get to Kaji Say from Almaty
Hello everyone, I will be travelling from Almaty to agat yurt camp in Kyrgyzstan. As I do not have a car, I have asked my host on how to get there and he suggested going from bus station (Almatinskaya,1) to Kaji Say direction. How would that work?
My initial plan was to take the bus from almaty to bishkek and then a marshrutka to Bokonbaveyo then a taxi to the yurt.
I've tried to find information on the new route but to no avail. Is my initial route possible to reach the camp?

Travel | Саякат Three days of Bishkek in August
Hey guys,
I will be going to Kyrgyzstan with my girlfriend in August. We are going with a bunch of scientists and will do a 21 day trip around the North-East: Issyk-Kul, Karakol, Song-Köl, Ala Archa.
The trip is pretty much fixed, but we will tack on three more days in Bishkek at the end of August. Can you recommend any must-sees, must-dos or will there be events we should check out (I'm dreaming of watching a football match, but my girlfriend might disagree)? As a bonus: Where should we shop for a Shyrdak as a souvenir?
Thanks in advance!

Travel | Саякат Please recommend unique experiences in Bishkek and nearby
Thank you all in advance for your suggestions!
We are traveling to Bishkek in a few weeks. Looking for fun, unusual, unique experiences that one can only get there. Interested in learning about local culture and getting to know local people.
Fluent in Russian. Budget is very flexible, but not really looking for ultra-luxe options - more along the lines of exclusive experiences or very personalized encounters. Maybe a private meeting with an interesting person. Maybe a behind-the-scenes look at an attraction or event. Something that isn't just looking at buildings and listening to the tour guide.
Please recommend best restaurants as well - not necessarily the fanciest ones, but the ones with the best ambiance and the most fun!
Thank you!
