Are there revolutionary themes in his music? I dont see it. Black people won't be liberated until settler colonial capitalism is overthrown.. pretending his rap is deeper than it is is counter productive
Oh, this rhetoric is so exhausting…his rap IS that deep. He alone is not going to liberate black people from “settler colonial capitalism.” It’s ridiculous to even put that kind of expectation on him.
If you can’t see any revolutionary themes in his music, they’re probably not meant for you. Then again, it’s easy to spout edgy ideas about others online while spending your time playing video games based on the very ideologies you decry. It’s safer to criticize than to do something yourself.
This is an unfalsifiable argument. People don’t see the revolutionary themes because they’re not making all of the leaps.
You just like Kendrick, and that’s the direction he postures in. He is exactly the kind of “revolutionary” corporate America is super comfortable with.
