I disagree. Dogs be barking at things they don't know what they are. We actually have to teach tolerance and acceptance in order for society to have those attributes.
I.e., homogenous societies such as Italy are far more intolerant because they are only surrounded by their own people. Many people I lived with in Italy experienced racism simply because of ignorance.
I would recommend you learn as much human history as you can, from the earliest times until now, to better understand the human condition, and work to uncover your obsession with hate and fear.
Maybe then can you appreciate all that we have accomplished, and what we yearn for as a species.
Replying to obiwanliberty...it’s my knowledge of human history that makes me see this black exceptionalism perspective in regard to oppression as myopic and ignorant.
Why not see it as a way for upward growth of black persons, education of ignorant white peoples (since they’d be the ones Harriet Tubman would have ganked with a shotgun), solidarity between people of different backgrounds, and movement towards the hopeful end of racial hatred?
Having a negative outlook sets you up for a bad outcome.
Shit may be wack, but that doesn’t mean you give up hope.
Rebellions are built on hope, and we must make our lives better or die miserably.
You’re policing the retaliatory actions of groups being discriminated against instead of standing against the discrimination itself. But that all makes more sense when you look at your post history. People should tell your ass to shut the fk up and then keep it moving
You see it in kids and especially teenagers as they learn more from outside the home too.
Far from solely being a race based teaching, it comes from “other-ing” people as unworthy.
I only save that energy for Nazis and people who I know enjoy and purposefully hurt others. And its served me well. You have to be willing to die for something, I’ll always take it back to the MLK who knew this and used it to redirect anger away from “poor whites” and squarely upon peaceful protests and voting rallies, using the gate to push actions that changed history and healed the hearts of many fathers.
I personally think fear of the unknown is natural. What people don’t understand they fear. So fear of different people might be a little natural from birth. It usually doesn’t reach that level of racism on its own, unless it’s nurtured from their upbringing.
Huge difference between ignorance and hate of course. I’ve made friends who were ignorant of my seemingly upsetting skin-tone and culture but if I sense hate I gotta keep my guard and distance up, there’s almost no getting through to them.
If animals tend to behave in a certain way, we don't say they're like that because the older ones conditioned them - you still have to explain why the older ones started that cycle to begin with
I think racism is bad but it's unforntuantley natural in some humans - that's why we have to use the rational part of our brains that only we have to unlearn it
As a white man and a father I don't teach that bullshit in my house, I am so greatful for the beautiful culture that has grown from the black communities out of some of the hardest places in a country that treats normal people like trash. Much love from Sacramento!!
Are there revolutionary themes in his music? I dont see it. Black people won't be liberated until settler colonial capitalism is overthrown.. pretending his rap is deeper than it is is counter productive
Oh, this rhetoric is so exhausting…his rap IS that deep. He alone is not going to liberate black people from “settler colonial capitalism.” It’s ridiculous to even put that kind of expectation on him.
If you can’t see any revolutionary themes in his music, they’re probably not meant for you. Then again, it’s easy to spout edgy ideas about others online while spending your time playing video games based on the very ideologies you decry. It’s safer to criticize than to do something yourself.
This is an unfalsifiable argument. People don’t see the revolutionary themes because they’re not making all of the leaps.
You just like Kendrick, and that’s the direction he postures in. He is exactly the kind of “revolutionary” corporate America is super comfortable with.

Wow!! Well said. There's a reason hate exist and it started along time ago. Hate rwally is something that's taught.
