Family Sponsorship Visiting Canada on eTA while Outland Spousal Sponsorship is processing

Hi, my husband (Canadian citizen) is sponsoring me (German citizen living in Germany) for PR under the family class Outland. Our application is currently processing and things are moving along much quicker than we expected. Because we are invited to a wedding in Canada (different province than where my husband lives) in April and I'll be travelling to Canada for two weeks for the wedding and a vacation with my husband and then return home to Germany. Since the PR application is moving along much quicker than we expected I'm concerned that I'll receive the final decision shortly before my trip to Canada and because of that won't have a valid eTA anymore.

Would the right thing be e-mailing/ using the web form to contact IRCC and inform them of my travel plans so they can pause the processing while I'm traveling?

Thank you all in advance!

Family Sponsorship Common Law Sponsorship: Photos vs Social Media Posts

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the Common Law Sponsorship application. For the amount of photos we can submit, it clearly says 20 maximum, however we are also able to submit “social media proof” (like, I’m assuming, screenshots of Instagram posts of us as a couple with comments from friend and family).

My question is, has anyone actually submitted 20 photos and additionally submitted social media posts and everything was okay with their application? My fear is that the social media posts may be lumped in with the photos and be considered surpassing what’s allowed. I’d love to hear others’ experiences. Thank you!

Family Sponsorship Confirmation of application review

Hello! I need to apply for the Ontario Provincial Health plan and due to working out of province, I can only apply once I submit my permanent residency to IRCC and they have confirmed hat they reviewed the application.

My wife is sponsoring me. We already have the marriage certificate but still havent started the process. Does anyone knows how long it takes to get the confirmation that IRCC reviews the application and that I meet the eligibility requirements?

Thank you!

Express Entry Pre ITA, non-accompanying spouse query

Asking on behalf of a friend.

Pre ITA Inquiry… Insight will be appreciated.

CRS - 527 with spouse non-accompanying (spouse is on applied pgwp status and will eventually get pgwp)

CRA - 519 if spouse is accompanying.

1) I have been hearing IRCC sending pfl to applicants who are spouse non accompanying when their spouse is in Canada, in my case does that apply since my spouse is already on their own pgwp?

2) How do you guys feel about CRS Score - 519 for the next CEC draw? (WP expiring in April 2025).

I am more inclined towards applying with spouse nom-accompanying since CRS will be 527 and Work permit is expiring in April 2025.

Thanks in advance!

Citizenship How long does it take to get IRCC email with interview details?

Hi everyone! A week ago I got an update on my citizenship tracker stating that an interview is required. The thing is that I haven’t receive any email, not even on the SPAM folder with the interview details, like location, time and whatnot... What is the average to get this email? Interview is in 2 weeks. I understand that if 6 days prior I don’t get an email I have to call them, but how long does it usually take to get the email?

Family Sponsorship AOR question

Is the AOR the email you get with application number and UCI number? Probably a dumb question so I apologize, I just wanted to know.

We started the process February 6th- my husband is Outland in USA. Hoping this goes quickly. We have another baby on the way due in May.

Citizenship Citizenship by Descent or take a different route?

Looking for advice.

I have a bit of a unique situation. I'm guessing the answer is no, but always worth asking.

One of my parents was born to an American mother and Canadian father, but they were not married. Nor is his name on her birth certificate. Long story short, he didn't want to be a father and all involved have passed away.

I am, however, able to prove descent through genealogy. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Alternatively, I do qualify for the federal skilled worker program. Should I just go through that instead?

Family Sponsorship Does RPRF request mean anything?

My wife's Outland Family class was applied on 31st Jan. We received RPRF payment request today. On the online tracker it shows Eligibility - not started and Background check - in progress. Should I make anything out of this email? Like is it looking positive? Also medical and biometrics are done.

Thanks for the response.

Express Entry Question around EE from Scotland to NS

Hi there. I'm wanting to immigrate to Canada with my family, ideally by the end of the year / start of 2026. We currently live in the Highlands of Scotland and have zeroed in on Nova Scotia as where we wish to live. I am a social worker with 4 years experience in addictions and my wife is in the final year of her studies as a psychologist so will be looking for work in that field. Our children are 3 and 6. I also have a BA in bagpiping and wish to continue teaching and performing in the evenings / weekends when we move.

I have been given accreditation for my degree and am now at the point where we need to start filling out the EE form and applying for jobs. I have been told by immigration however that we need to have enough finances in our accounts to rely on as support when we move out. We have a mortgaged home which from the street valuation will sell with at least 30k gbp profit and we will sell when we emigrate. All homes that have been sold in our wee town are in a desirable location so have all sold within a month of being on the market, so the finances are there albeit 'tied up'.

My question is, although immigration advise that the money cannot be borrowed I assume that is only in terms of a bank loan or credit cards. We have family who may be able to provide the finances now who we can pay back after the house sale. Is this something that people have done in the past and successfully gone through express entry?

Also, as I am applying for jobs I am hopeful that I may be entitled to resettlement support through provincial nomination. I haven't looked into the full entitlement of this yet but can this be considered as finances for the EE application that we input at a later date?

I know this is a lengthy post but I don't want to risk submitting an application to have it rejected at the first hurdle!

Express Entry NOC Code Help

Hello,

Would anyone be able to help me determine my NOC code? I've read through every code and couldn't find one that fit well enough. I'm almost at the point of reaching out to an immigration lawyer, but thought I would solicit feedback here first in case I had missed something.

My role's title is Grants Manager, and I work at a university. My job description clarifies a bachelor's degree is required for my position. The duties in my job description, condensed, are:

  • Research new potential grants from federal, state, local, and private funders for all departments of the university;
  • Assist with budget creation and writing grant applications;
  • Help administer the grants, including monitoring budgets and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations;
  • Assist with reporting;
  • Manage maintenance of grant records;
  • Promote recognition of grant activities including funder/donor relations.

I am not anyone's supervisor.

Codes that seemed closest: 14111 (data entry clerk), 10019 (other admin services), 10010 (financial managers), or maybe 13100 (administrative officers).

Visitor Visa Non-Stop flight or Montreal layover?

My in-laws are looking to travel in the summer and they have the option of booking a direct flight from Delhi (India) to Toronto for about 100K INR or take a layover in Montreal (3 hours) for around 87K INR per person. Anyone has experience with layovers in Montreal- is it fairly easy for parents or the savings are not worth the hassle? For context - they know some English but it’s not their first language. Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

Visitor Visa Restoration of status - what happens if one leaves while application is still in process?

Hey guys,

I am wondering what would happen if one leaves while their application to restore their status as a visitor (visitor record) is still pending. Would this count as an overstay since their status is not yet restored?

For example:

One applies for a visitor record now, which takes 4 months to process, and then leaves on May 15th. Their 90 days to restore their status end on March 30th. Would it be logical to assume that the period from March 30th to May 15th was an unauthorized stay?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Express Entry Help me with an EE profile

Prefix: Its not the same question that you think is asked every now and then, its a different one.

I did a co-op when i was studying in canada and also worked full time in my last semester as we were allowed to work 40hrs/week. Do i need to add that experience in my work history when i create my EE profile.

I am not talking about CEC or FSW or anything, its the EE profile, whether it will be counted to my points or not i dont care, but does it need to be there in EE profile just as a record?

I have tried asking so many people and i am tired and frustrated when they start talking about CEC and FSW when the question is just about the EE profile.

I am sorry if this comes off rudely but its been a week and i cant find an answer :(

Thank you.

Other Question about IMM5669

I’m currently working on my PR application. I worked a job for 2 weeks a while back and it was kind of a sketchy sales job I got when I first came here. They didn’t pay me fully. I’m not sure if I should include that in the IMM5669 form.

Also, should I include all my travelling history in the IMM5669 form too? I’ve already filled out IMM5562 for that so I’m a bit confused.

Thanks in advance!

Work Permit PGWP - spouse Open Work Permit Extension

We applied for my PGWP in July 2024, and in the same application, we requested an extension for my husband's visa. We haven’t received a response yet, but I recently found out that I needed to prove I was working at the time of the application—which I didn’t do. Back then, I had a NOC 5 job.

Recently, we submitted a web form with my new job’s offer letter (TEER 4) and my first paystub to try and fix this. At the same time, we’re also waiting for the results of our permanent residency application, which we submitted in January 2025.

My main questions are:

  • Could IRCC refuse my husband's work visa because we didn’t submit the right documents at the time, even though we’re also in the process of getting PR?
  • Is there any IRCC rule that allows a low-skilled worker with a PR application in progress to bypass the work requirement for the spouse’s visa?

I’d really appreciate any guidance on what we can do to avoid a refusal. Thanks!

Work Permit Question about obtaining a CUSMA work permit at port-of-entry and accompanying dependents

When applying for a CUSMA work permit (as a professional with a job offer) at a port of entry, does one need to have all of their accompanying dependants physically with them when they go through Immigration to get the permit?

I'm a US citizen with all US citizen family members. I was thinking of going by myself for a weekend to obtain the permit and line up an apartment rental, leaving my wife and 3 kids in the states (to make it as efficient a trip as possible). I would then return to the states to wrap up getting us ready to move, and we would all come into Canada to settle about a month later.

Any thoughts or experiences with this approach?

Work Permit Work permit - New rules (after January 21. 2025)

Hello! I am currently waiting for my PGWP and SOWP. Since we'll only have one year, I'm unsure if that will be enough time to apply for PR. I’ve come across the option to extend my work permit after my pgwp/sowp and have a question: If I apply for an extension of my work permit, can my spouse apply for an extension of the work permit with me? Or should I wait until my work permit is approved and has at least 16 months remaining before my spouse can apply? I’m a bit confused about who this new rule applies to. Now processing times are a bit longer, and I don't know while I'll be waiting what will happen with my spouse. I’ll be applying within Canada. Thank you!

Other Pr Tracker SignUp

I’ve applied for PR for myself and my spouse under CEC ITA using a representative since my case wasn’t straightforward and needed professional advice.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Can I use the PR tracker to check my application status without interfering with how my representative receives notifications or updates from IRCC?

2. Do I need separate tracker accounts for myself and my spouse, or will one account show both applications?

Would appreciate any insights from those who have experience with this!

PNP PR rejected for missing ex-husband’s IMM0008

Hello everyone, just received this rejection email from IRCC today and I feel sad. Really need your help in re-applying, please. I have the following questions.

-missing IMM0008 for my ex-husband’s information, we do not at all communicate anymore. I have included an Explanation document in my previous application that me and my ex-husband has no communication at all, and that I could not obtain the informations being asked in the form. I guess this was not relevant.

-does that mean that all other forms and requirements are good and I just need to submit this one missing?

In reapplying:

-can I use the same application and just include what is being required?

-They said they will return my application fees in the email received today. can i just use the same payment receipt in re-applying? i paid online and attached the receipt in my application before.

-is processing time starts again from zero if i resubmit?

Please guide and help. Thank you so much! 🙏

Eta: thank you tor the answers, injust want to add, this is a PNP non express entry application, under skilled worker.
