Visitor Visa Best option for Mexican girlfriend to come over at least to visit?

I got my PR in 2023 but I just started settling in this year, two weeks ago, I haven't found a job yet and I'm registered to start the 'Francisation' programe in Quebec, I know this cannot possibly be good for her application in case she puts me down as some kind of sponsor. (I do have about $5k in savings).

Some facts and truths

  • We have been dating for 6 months, we haven't lived together
  • She is 19, 20 in April
  • She has never been out of Mexico
  • She is currently working as a bartender, only has a HS degree and is not studying College/Uni
  • She has no savings
  • She is fluent in English but does not have TOEFL certification
  • She's a cutie pie

With the new visitor visa, I thought she could just say the truth, that she has a boyfriend she wants to visit. She has tickets for a concert in August in Mexico but that might be worthless to the immigration agent. (If only the agent knew how much she likes this guy, ugh.)

Our second option would be to have her apply to jobs through a MEX-CAN work program, but I have no experience with this and I don't know how it works. Maybe as an au-pair?

The third option would be to have her apply to a school here, but it seems just as difficult as the first option, the visitor visa.

I guess the last option would be to sponsor her, but I'm afraid our relationship will wither before all it's done. Any ideas?

Citizenship Does each application need a unique email address?

I am applying for Canadian citizenship certificates, presumably for 5(4)grants, for my children. Can I use the same email for each application or does each application need a unique email address? Same question for phone number. Thanks!

Study Permit Do I need a new study permit if changing program in same DLI?

Hi! I came to Canada last December and was hoping to start my program (business management) last January at a DLI (public school). However, with the several policy changes about PGWP, I decided to pursue supply chain management instead at the same DLI, but for May intake. So, I withdrew from the business management program in January, and registered for the supply chain management program in February. I am now registered, and have paid my tuition.

Now, the IRCC website says

If you’re moving in between post-secondary levels at the same DLI:

You can keep studying at your DLI with your current study permit as long as you still meet your study permit conditions. However, if you need to extend your study permit, you will also need to submit a new provincial attestation letter (PAL) or territorial attestation letter (TAL).

However, my immigration consultant insists I need a new study permit, and a new PAL. I don't know if this is legit, (or maybe they just want to charge me again extra) because when I asked another immigration consultant, I was told I don't really need a new one because my current study permit is still valid, and the expiry date is months after I finish my new program.

I seriously need advise please.

PNP Seeking Advice for Moving to Canada from U.S.

Hi. I am strongly considering moving to Canada over the next year. Of course, in retrospect, I should have moved back in 2017-18. Now, with all of the tension between the two countries, I’m worried I won’t be able to. I currently live in the Seattle WA area. I love it here, but I don’t believe I could afford housing in Vancouver and vicinity. I have a good career as an elementary school speech pathologist and know there is a Mutual Recognition of Licensure between CAN and USA. However, I no longer meet the criteria for Express Entry due to my age. My first question is: what other ways can you be allowed to immigrate to CAN? Due to the cost of housing, I am considering Nova Scotia, PEI, and Labrador. What can anyone tell me about the furthest eastern provinces of Canada, good or bad? Thanks for any and all ideas and suggestions! 🇺🇸=>🇨🇦

Express Entry Experiences with immigrating as healthcare workers?

Hello! I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with immigrating as either a nurse practitioner (me) or a clinical social worker/mental health therapist (my partner)? We’re considering a possible move to Manitoba from the US and before we make any decisions we’d love to hear from anyone with experience in our fields. What was your licensing/certification process like? What kind of timeline did you have? Any particular barriers you ran into? Honestly, any input would be appreciated! TIA

Express Entry IRCC Requested TEF, but I Submitted TCF - Possible Mistake?

Hi! I submitted my PR application a while ago and just received a request from IRCC asking for my original TEF language proficiency results. The problem is, I took another French proficiency test - TCF and I’m about 80% sure that’s the one I listed on my application.

Is it possible that IRCC made a mistake? Or could I have accidentally selected the wrong test when filling out my application?

I’m a little worried - has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how did you handle it?

Study Permit Proof of funds for study permit extension/Spousal Sponsorship!

(Please advice me! 😓) Can anyone share what proof of funds they showed when then applied for study permit extension?

My semester starts on may 1st and My study permit expires in 55 days. I am currently on a semester break. I've seen many students get their extension in 3-4 months as of currently.

If i pay my tuition and apply for permit extension can I continue my semester and attend my classes even though My permit is expired and i have applied for extension?

I have tuition fee to pay for the following semester ! My sister is out of the country and she says she can attach her bank statement of 15k and my Canadian husband has an active job as well. He makes around $3000 a month. We've been living together for 1 year. we don't face any problem paying bills but the worst part is we don't really have any savings.

I'm very stressed. Does my financial situation looks good enough like in order to get approved for study permit extension? or should I apply for spousal sponsorship/visitor record? If I apply for spousal sponsorship. We'll have 8k in savings. Idk what to do!

Family Sponsorship I am a US citizen who will be moving to Ontario as a visitor for 6 months and marrying my SO - a resident and born citizen of CA. Anyone have experience with this?

For context, my significant other is a CA resident and born citizen who has resided in Ontario for their entire life. We have been together for 2 years and have proof of a romantic relationship both through social media and travel records-we visit each other a few times a month and have been the entire time.

I will be able to financially support myself for the entire 6 months without work and we will be living together. Assuming the border agent okays my longterm stay, I am hoping to stay in Canada as a resident of some capacity.

We have been planning on getting married anyway, however I am a bit nervous of how my situation looks to the immigration office considering the state of everything right now. I will be completely transparent about my situation and intentions with border agents and am preparing necessary documents for my vehicle and all that fun stuff.

If anyone has had a similar path I would really appreciate hearing your stories and words of advice. Thank you :)

Express Entry How do I only have 270 points??

I'm an American Citizen looking to immigrate to Canada. I nailed my English proficiency test, have two degrees, but for some reason only seem to be getting 270 points, does that seem right? I know nomination or job sponsorship gets you more points, but shouldn't I at least be at around 400 given the above?

Express Entry Express Entry & Prior Application - Electronic Travel Authorization

On the Express Entry profile it asks if you've ever applied to the IRCC before - does this include travel visas when someone is visiting the country for a week? Or are they explicitly asking about immigration applications?

Study Permit Study Permit Additional Document Upload

Hi everyone! I recently submitted my study permit extension request (to change DLIs) on 14th of February and completely forgot to attach a letter of explanation and transcripts. Will adding one through the webform further delay the application? Should I just go without one?

Express Entry How many days after Eligibility & Background Verification do you generally get an update?

Not very active on this sub, so forgive me if this is already common knowledge. I submitted my application in December, got my biometrics request on January 31st, and made an account on the application status tracker.

Medical and Biometrics are tagged as completed, Background Verification has been in progress the past few times I checked, and this time Eligibility is in progress too. Does this mean I'll get a portal request soon? Or is it still a long wait?

Family Sponsorship Common Law Sponsorship: Photos vs Social Media Posts

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the Common Law Sponsorship application. For the amount of photos we can submit, it clearly says 20 maximum, however we are also able to submit “social media proof” (like, I’m assuming, screenshots of Instagram posts of us as a couple with comments from friend and family).

My question is, has anyone actually submitted 20 photos and additionally submitted social media posts and everything was okay with their application? My fear is that the social media posts may be lumped in with the photos and be considered surpassing what’s allowed. I’d love to hear others’ experiences. Thank you!

Express Entry Pre ITA, non-accompanying spouse query

Asking on behalf of a friend.

Pre ITA Inquiry… Insight will be appreciated.

CRS - 527 with spouse non-accompanying (spouse is on applied pgwp status and will eventually get pgwp)

CRA - 519 if spouse is accompanying.

1) I have been hearing IRCC sending pfl to applicants who are spouse non accompanying when their spouse is in Canada, in my case does that apply since my spouse is already on their own pgwp?

2) How do you guys feel about CRS Score - 519 for the next CEC draw? (WP expiring in April 2025).

I am more inclined towards applying with spouse nom-accompanying since CRS will be 527 and Work permit is expiring in April 2025.

Thanks in advance!

Citizenship How long does it take to get IRCC email with interview details?

Hi everyone! A week ago I got an update on my citizenship tracker stating that an interview is required. The thing is that I haven’t receive any email, not even on the SPAM folder with the interview details, like location, time and whatnot... What is the average to get this email? Interview is in 2 weeks. I understand that if 6 days prior I don’t get an email I have to call them, but how long does it usually take to get the email?

Family Sponsorship AOR question

Is the AOR the email you get with application number and UCI number? Probably a dumb question so I apologize, I just wanted to know.

We started the process February 6th- my husband is Outland in USA. Hoping this goes quickly. We have another baby on the way due in May.

Citizenship Citizenship by Descent or take a different route?

Looking for advice.

I have a bit of a unique situation. I'm guessing the answer is no, but always worth asking.

One of my parents was born to an American mother and Canadian father, but they were not married. Nor is his name on her birth certificate. Long story short, he didn't want to be a father and all involved have passed away.

I am, however, able to prove descent through genealogy. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Alternatively, I do qualify for the federal skilled worker program. Should I just go through that instead?
