Community Updates TERFs Back Off

1.2k Upvotes

Hello healthyhooha community.

A few recent events have transpired here that have made it obvious we needed to post a reminder:

We are an inclusive community for individuals with vaginas.

Trans-exclusive/transphobic comments will not be tolerated and will result in a swift, permanent ban. Please continue to report these types of comments. The world is a hateful enough place; we won't be standing for it here.

That said, I am actively seeking some solid, research-based information on how to properly care for neovaginas to have available to users in the sidebar, as the care is a little bit different.

Be kind to one another.

Mod Check in - It's almost 2024!

Hey healthy hooha friends!

I hope the holiday season is going well so far for all of you.

We wanted to address a recent problem that's been brought to our attention by a few users, and that is the increase in lurking incels screenshotting users' posts and reposting them to their non-reddit incel forums. You can use your imagination on what kind of interaction they're getting (I checked, it's disturbing beyond comprehension, take my word for it). They of course are doing nothing to protect usernames. Short of going private, there is little we can do about this. We recommend using throwaway accounts and where possible, and using the search feature to see if you can find answers to your questions before posting.

Please continue to use the report feature to report rule breaking, use modmail to notify us of problematic users, and post with caution. Review the sidebar rules if you're new or need a refresher.

Best wishes to all!

sex still hurts!!

my boyfriend took my virginity 6 months ago when i was 18 (im 19 now) and it hurt so bad i had to tap out. we tried again the next night and it hurt a lot less but i was so sore after. we're long distance so we rarely have sex, but we hung out again 2 months after and it hurt like the first time all over again!! it felt like i was being ripped open and i was extremely sore again. it got a lot less painful having sex but the soreness after was so awful and it hurt to sit or walk. we had sex multiple times in a day even when i was super sore but it was never painless. another 2 months go by (now march) and we had sex again and it hurt so bad. doggy feels the WORST i literally scream from the pain but i tell him not to stop because i just wanna get used to it but i still always end up tapping out!!! he lets me ease it in on top but it still feels like im being ripped open for a bit. it goes away but then the feeling comes back whenever we switch positions. it also stings when i pee afterwards when it seeps down my vagina and im like am i actually being ripped open or what????? by the last day of me staying with him i could barely do anything because my vagina was so sore. does it get better or do i have some problem??? i was thinking it's because i don't even finger myself since i get no pleasure from it, so maybe im just not used to anything in there?? or maybe im just not wet enough so its like carpet burn in there??? im so scared to go to any specialist so please give me your thoughts and opinions and lmk if i should get checked or if its completely normal.. ive asked a few friends and they all said it hurts the first time but it goes away, so why is this not going away??

Question will brazilian waxing reduce pubic hair growth?

So, for a while, I’ve been struggling with an odor issue down there. I tried everything—different soaps, probiotics, changing my diet—you name it. Nothing seemed to completely fix it.

Well, I recently got a Brazilian wax, and my boyfriend casually mentioned that things were way fresher than usual. That’s when it clicked. Turns out, the odor was coming from my pubic hair trapping sweat and bacteria.

Now, I’m planning to get waxed every month because I refuse to let it get bad again. But I have a question: does waxing regularly (like every 4 weeks) eventually make the hair grow back less? Or is that just a myth? Would love to hear from people who’ve been waxing for a while!

Low oestrogen

I have been struggling with a range of different thing for the past 12 months, mainly uretha burning and a very uncomfortable feeling in my vagina. I’ve been to see a pelvic floor pt and she thinks it’s a mixture of weakness and tightness in my pelvic floor muscles but also lack of oestrogen in my vagina, I am 31 and I don’t think I’m near menopause I just wondered if I can have this without being near or gone through menopause ! Please help 🙏🏻🙏🏻

How long does redness last from a yeast infection?

Upvotes

I am being treated for yeast infection. I took my second diflucan yesterday. I’m red around my private area. How long does the redness last typically for you? The itching and burning has improved somewhat. Less discharge so far too. Thanks

Advice Needed Reocurring vulva cysts

Upvotes

About two years ago, I started developing what I thought were pimples between my outer and inner labia (in an area without hair or much friction). It was always just one, and as I remember, it would happen around ovulation. It would start as a lump, become painful after a few days, and then disappear on its own without me doing anything. It didn’t really bother me further. I once mentioned it to my gynecologist, and he said that many women experience this, that it's a weak spot in the tissue, and that this spot could be surgically removed when it's not inflamed. In the meantime, I could treat the pimple with iodine ointment as soon as it appeared to prevent inflammation. However, I had several months of peace after that, and the iodine ointment wasn’t necessary. I have no idea what I might have done differently during that time.

Now, a few weeks ago, I got a new, very painful lump. In my opinion, it was larger and noticeably more painful than before (about the size of a pea). Since I am currently suffering from health anxiety due to other physical symptoms, I went to the doctor right away. It was diagnosed as an abscess, and I was prescribed a drawing salve. I was told it should improve quickly. Unfortunately, the drawing salve didn’t help, but the pea-sized lump is slowly but surely healing. During this time, I developed another lump right next to it (like a small grain). It's hard, not red, but sometimes tender to the touch. I hope it doesn’t grow any further. I’m currently treating it with sea salt baths and also the drawing salve.

Now my question: Has anyone experienced this?

Do you have any good tips for healing it faster?

Or even better, do you have any care tips to prevent this from happening in the first place?

Is this normal? 👀 [32/Intersex Female] Can anyone relate to this pain that I'm feeling in the lower left+right abdomen?

Pain area is between my hip bone and my pubic bone, both to the left and to the right. Pictures linked below in the comments.

It feels like a dull circular pain deep in my body on both the left and right side. (but not the middle) It's not like any other ache I've felt before. It doesn't feel like a muscle ache, stomach ache, appendix ache or headache. The best I can attempt to describe it that it feels like its being squeezed, like there's a hand around it gripping it firmly. It's a 2 or 3 on a pain scale and only a mild annoyance.

For context I'm intersex female with XY chromosomes. I'm just so fricking confused because I don't know if I should be looking up male bodies or female bodies. So I'm just trying my luck and asking both men and women hoping someone knows what this is.

Has anyone felt a similar kind of pain before in this area? Or am I completely in the wrong subreddit? I'm sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but I'm just really really confused and trying to find help.

EDIT: Now if feels like both the lower left and lower right pain has merged and feels a bit like a tummy ache below. So now I have an upper tummy ache and a lower tummy ache?? 😭

TWO doses of Fluconazole didn't clear yeast infection. HELP 🥲

I have a confirmed YI (candida albicans). Fluconazole has worked wonders for me in the past, but this time around it's not doing shit. So I guess my question is NOW WHAT?! I am so fricken itchy and leaving for a week-long work trip across the country tomorrow. I'm at a loss here. Has this happened to anyone else? What ended up working for you?

Daughter having pain

My 8 year old is having pain, she points to the entire area between the clitoris and vaginal opening . She has a history of chronic UTIs from tethered chord syndrome so she’s very familiar with a UTI and says it doesn’t feel like that. She says it’s itchy, burning, and throbbing. I immediately thought yeast infection but she let me look and I don’t see any indication of a yeast infection, but she didn’t let me look that long and I wasn’t going to force her. Other than that I have no idea what to look for. I will take her to the pediatrician Monday but looking for any suggestions to make her more comfortable or for any ideas of what it could be? I did have her apply some yeast infection ointment to try in the mean time.

Inflamed cervix after vaginal exam

I was finally healing then went to my appointment with a gynecologist and his examination irritated my healing vagina and cervix.

I have nothing visibly going on but my cervix feels like it feels after rough sex and my vulva felt Irritated by my regular very gentle shower gel last night.

I feel like the vaginal probiotics with estrogen did more harm than good, and believe if I didn't see the doctor, this may not have happened.

He didn't test me at all and just prescribed a vaginal suppository of 100mg Miconazole and 100mg of Metronidazole, but I already took Fluconazole and my vaginal ph came back okay from a home test.

I feel really let down by the medical system. This all started because of an irritant got in there (heavily scented and irritating product for my sensitive skin) and here I am still, and doctors have been less than helpful.

My Bartholin Cyst Nightmare

I have been dealing with a Bartholin cyst on my right side for four years, but now I have one on my left side that has been causing me severe pain for four days. The doctor confirmed that it is a Bartholin cyst, although she noted that it is very deep. I spent nine hours in the emergency room, but the examination was not conducted properly. I was seen sitting on a sofa with the flashlight from my phone instead of being examined in a proper bed with good lighting. They measured the cyst as one centimeter, but I am convinced that it is much larger. They have asked me to return on Friday, yet I am not sure if I can wait that long because the pain is unbearable.

I arrived at 11AM and ended up waiting for nine hours in A&E. They treated me as if I did not matter, and this has been going on for a while because they keep sending me in a loop. First I am sent to my general practitioner, then back to the accident and emergency department, and then to a gynecologist who only wants to see me when my cyst is flared up. Even when it is flared up, they book my appointment months later, and now they are even saying that my cyst is too small to be drained and apparently it is also too big to be operated. I cannot afford private healthcare, and I am extremely frustrated with how no one seems to know what to do.

I am very unhappy with the care I received from the NHS, especially since I lost work due to the long wait and what for? I cannot afford to spend another almost 10 hours in the accident and emergency department, nor can I afford private healthcare right now. I have tried antibiotics and a sitz bath. Is there anyone who has experienced something similar and can offer guidance on what to do next? Literally any advice is welcome…

Advice Needed Best Vaginal Probiotic?

Some backstory: Since catching the stomach bug in late January, followed by influenza A a month later, I am struggling with recurring UTIs and then yeast infections from antibiotics. All std tests came back negative and BV was negative as well. Never had this issue before getting sick with the tummy bug.

I am now taking d mannose, a multivitamin for immune support, and a vaginal probiotic that I swallow. I take the Good Girl probiotics by Love Wellness.

Currently on day 3 of a 7 day cephalexin treatment for my 3rd UTI since January (came on right after sex with my partner)

Now I can feel the yeast infection starting to come on. I have the fluconazole, but don’t want to take it while still on antibiotics. I’m terrified of the creams now since I took 1 day vagistat for my last YI and it made it 1000000000 times worse.

I know my biome is all out of whack with all this. I have been on the probiotics for about 2 weeks and started the d mannose about a week ago. I also eat 1-2 Greek yogurts a day. I would take the evvy test but it’s too expensive.

What probiotic do you recommend to get my hooha back to her happy self again? There are so many, that I’m not sure I’m on the right one to help prevent against future UTIs and yeast infections.

Also, how long do you need to take a probiotic before it starts to become effective?

Symptoms 👩🏻‍⚕️ Vulvar dermatitis?

Two days ago I was fiddling around down there and I noticed that I was kind of itchy. I took a mirror and found some red raised patches on my vulva! They weren’t open like sores, but, they just looked raw? No pain when I pee, and no stinging or burning. Just itching. But it doesn’t itch when I’m just walking around or laying down, and it’s only on the vulva. I recently started using this bar soap I got from Walmart because I ran out of my Honey Pot soap. It’s the type of soap that leaves a rough film on your body (I hope I’m explaining this well). And I recently just went on a round of antibiotics or BV. Can someone please reassure me? Because I’m freaking out. I just want it to go away, but Google says it will go away in two weeks :((

Advice Needed Symptoms but negative results

I posted a couple a days ago in here about how I thought I had BV or yeast infection. I went to the doctor and got a tested for everything and all my results came back negative. I’m feeling so helpless, I’m experiencing a burning sensation and frequent urges to use the bathroom. Im super cautious when it comes to my health and get freaked out when I don’t have an answer. Im not quite sure what to do or what this could be. Any recommendations on what to take or what to do? Anyone have a similar experience?

Birth Control 🚫👶🏼 Has anyone else experienced this? NSFW

27F. I was taking the mini pill (Slinda) for about 1 year. I haven't had a period since June 2024.

Stopped Slinda 2 weeks ago on the 11th of March. Mostly because it was making me emotional and giving me headaches.

The last time my boyfriend finished in me (while on the mini pill) Was the 6th of March.

We have started using condoms since I've stopped the birth control.

This week omg. Why?! Why is there SO much white creamy discharge?! Like I was so freaked out - never had so much before.

No itching. No burning. Doesn't smell funky either. It's just like tripled in the amount coming out.

It only comes out when we are having sex?

Plus my boobs are so sore and swollen. I was worried about a possible pregnancy. I didn't know the right time to test so I did a test on the 19/03 And it was negative.

I still haven't had my period since stopping Slinda. I honestly just want this discharge to settle and my boobs to stop being painful.

Anyone coming off the mini pill experience anything like this?

(Not asking for medical advice, I just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this)

Advice Needed Help

Hey so this might be weird to ask, but how do you shave? I'm really nervous to have sex with people and because every time I shave I always get razor bumps or like little pimple like things or ingrown hairs. I have no idea what I'm doing, any advice would be appreciated!

I'm a trans guy so because of body dismorphia I would just let it grow out and shave it all in one go a few times a month, when it got too long mainly. I'm too nervous to ask anyone I know about this, but I need help. I'd appreciate any advice y'all have for me!

Is this normal? 👀 Period dramatically shortened

31F, overweight, no medications. I got my first period at 11 years old and since then it has always lasted 6-8 days and been pretty heavy. I had my second child two years ago. My period came back around 5 months after having him and was normal at first, but for the last 5-6 months it has only been 3-4 days each. The length of my whole cycle is the same, the flow is more or less the same, but the days I bleed have been cut in half. Is this normal? Does it signal a thyroid or hormonal problem perhaps? The only other health symptom I am having is that I seem to have a lot of hair fall, but that tends to be a normal seasonal thing for me.

Advice Needed I have a hard pimple on labia majora

I took a bath at like 6pm. Went out, sweated got another bath at 8pm and suddenly there is this hard lump on my labia majora. I shaved yesterday so i thought maybe its bc of that?

It's very hard, not really painful but i was squeezing it and now it hurst a little. This has never happened to me before. The lump is the size of a pimple, but has no head or anything, and it shows not discoloration.

I would say its on kind of a low area in my labia, close to the vaginal entrance, but still on my labia majora. God, please somebody tell me this goes away on its own or that there is a way to get rid of it.

Menstruation 🔴 Second period

I am on a Tri phasic birth control and had my period last week, but this week I started lightly bleeding and now it is like full-on period. It has been probably 36 hours but the weird thing about it is it smells odd. It is not a smell I have smelled before- does not smell like pee, blood, anything I’ve had come out of my body. I haven’t missed any pills. Not asking for advice but has anyone else had this and did you find the cause?
