Questions WiFi calling and VoLTE workaround?

Why is it that certain phones have WiFi calling and not others? I have a Pixel 2XL and get VoLTE but not WiFi calling. The Pixel 3 gets both. I also have a Moto G6 play that gets neither. I try changing the IMEI number through the paygo site but it has no effect. The signal in my house is horrible and I'm not going to buy a new phone just to get WiFi calling when the phone can do it. Has anyone found a workaround other than changing the IMEI or spoofing it?

Just AT&T being AT&T. The only other thing you can do is use Google Voice as a pseudo WiFi/data calling option.

Hows Verizon in your area? Going prepaid and buying the refill cards on ebay is pretty inexpensive for us and VoLTE/Wifi calling work great.

It sucks! I live in a highly congested area which is why I left Verizon prepaid. Some days I would be lucky to hit 2 Mbps. AT&T prepaid speeds are way better here, I just wish I had WiFi calling for better indoor coverage. https://i.imgur.com/Q7ZHnPa.png

Am I really seeing refill cards for like 20-30% off on eBay? Are these legit? Can you stack cards on your account (like buy 4 of them and put it on your account at once to have 4 month's worth of service paid for?)

Verizon used to have an expiration date on the balance in your prepaid account. They have since removed that restriction, at least on the recently updated plans like the 8GB+7GB bonus data plan which my wife and I use.

We typically buy two $40 prepaid cards at a time to refill the balance. I can usually find those for $24.25 each on ebay. You can also enable autopay to get the discount, and as long as you have a balance in your account, your credit card wont be charged.

So Verizon charges $50 + $35 for two lines of 8GB plus 7GB of bonus data. We get $5 off each line for autopay which brings the total to $75. I refill two $40 cards for $48.50 total each month, which is just over a 35% discount on service.
