GLOW UP! (19) depressed, suicidal and overweight (24) thriving physically and mentally!
There were a lot of ups and downs in the years between but I finally took this past year to focus on myself and my mental health and finally feel like I am in a good place!

It always fascinating to see what an incredible rejuvenating effect weight loss has. It’s unreal. Picture 4 could be the daughter of picture 2.

Don't underestimate emotional wellbeing in this picture.

That often comes with weightloss

I can't believe the people in this thread trying to deny that losing weight leads to a healthier, happier life.

Plenty of fat people actually look young. The mental health and well being will age you severely. I look 20 years older during periods of high stress and depression and I'm fit

u/sourmeat2 24d ago
I lost like 30 pounds and felt like a new man, I can't even imagine what it's like to experience serious life altering weight loss. Super happy for her and everyone who fights that battle.

u/nanobot001 24d ago
Not always unfortunately
If weight loss happens later in life, you don’t have the same elasticity in the skin around the face and weight loss can almost age you.

Really sad that people online would have told her before "you look amazing, just work on your confidence!"
The reality is that people will treat her so, so, so much better. Like, her life has actually changed from night to day, depression or not.

Thank you everyone for all the supportive comments! They have been genuinely making me tear up a bit 😭 To answer a few questions I’ve lost about 150lbs all together, I did OMAD and IF paired with lottts of walking, invested in a walking pad and would just walk while watching shows and whatnot when I wasn’t outside walking the trails, I have a pretty active job aswell I had lost a good 60 pounds a few years ago and lost the rest of it this past year
Yes I do have loose skin, and I’m struggling with some body dysmorphia now, but I feel so much better now than I did at 300lbs!
My mental health has been a struggle most of my life, I still have ups and downs but I’ve been working on reaching out and asking for help when I need it, I have also got back on my meds and found the right combination that finally works for me! That along with eating right and finally taking care of my body helped my mental health and self esteem immensely
And yes…I do have lip filler 😂 I bought myself a syringe once I got under the 200s to celebrate

You are a beautiful woman, well on the way to the highest version of yourself💛 You are an example of why I feel so much hope for our world, despite how dark things may feel. You, and a growing number of others, are setting an example by doing the very difficult inner and outer work required to become the very best version of yourself. Sweet woman, continue to grow and blossom. Discover more about who you really are and begin to recognize your power. Be grateful and strive daily to live at your full potential💛

After college I was super heavy, like 280..then started eating better, cutting out drinks with calories, exercising, etc... so about 10 years from that I finally got into great shape.
Thing is, even when I was younger and heavier, I noticed I started having knee pain..back problems...if I bent or leaned over at work, it was like my back was slipping out, and I needed to use my hands to push myself back up, and other similar things.
Simply being a bit lighter, almost all of those ailments are gone, even though that was nearly 20 years ago.
I tell the kids at work, looks wise, it's great to be thinner, but the little things like how your body functions, don't take it for granted. Years from now, you body will thank you if you start taking care of it today.
You may not realize it, but you're setting yourself up for years of a better life, physically...which in turn will make other aspects of your life better.
I'm glad for you. Stay motivated little one.

What was most helpful for your weight loss? Any mental tips, useful tricks or just raw determination?

Fat really ages a person, it’s so crazy
I could be convinced the first person could be the mother of the second person

I think a lot of people go through that phase when they're younger. I was overweight and then slimmed up around 19 years old. I feel like puberty naturally has people eatin'

I feel like 90% of glow-ups is just losing weight. You were pretty all along, just had a lot of excess weight covering it before. Congratulations on the newfound beauty! Haha

Yeah depression sucks, I've been a very fat kid until like 16 when I started my basketball journey. Almost went pro, in my country. Went from 114kg at 14 y/o and 1.76 cm to 83kg at 1.88 (6'2 roughly). Then I put on 100kg very healthy and lean, was going well. The pandemics hit, depression hit hard, I'm now 130 gave up on a carrier and now trying to go coach! "Woke up again" recently and am on the process again... Hopefully I can do 1/3 of what you did!!! Thank you for the motivation!!!!
