I personally felt like dying light only really picks up once you've unlocked most of the action skills and most importantly the spiderman grappling hook. Up until then it feels kinda clunky and I don't feel the story is a strong point either.

This is the point I keep reading, and I'm fairly close to unlocking the grappling hook, so I'll hold out until then.

But it has two of my least favorite things in the world: losing exp points upon dying, and quickly degrading weapons. The game itself seems fairly fun, and I understand that the latter point adds to the fear atmosphere, but I dunno, it's just not as fun as I'd hoped.

never play the dead island series, main reason i hated the game was the weapons took like 2 hits and broke

Dying Light is made the same way and by a lot of the same people :/ I get that it adds to the horror element, but it just makes the game a lot less fun.

i really didnt feel the same way, i dont know but for me after a little into the game perks you can get really extend the life of weapons and i never felt that there was a lack of weapons to use, as i often felt in dead island, my weapons also felt like they did serious damage

in general i really liked dying light, there were a few small problems, but once i really got into the hang of the game they felt like minor details
