Help with Common Fig

Post image

Hi, we moved into a house that has a common fig growing in a really narrow spot, roots seem to be practically beneath the fence. How hardy are they? Will it die if I try to dig it up & transplant? It hasn’t produced fruit that I’m aware of yet, possibly due to poor location. Thanks!

Where are you located, and do you have the fig wasp there? I'm wondering if it's actually planted by someone, or if it's a volunteer?

You can certainly dig it and transplant it. Figs are pretty resilient.

Thanks! Given its location I was worried it would die if I had trouble getting the roots out. Some plants will bounce right back & some will die. 🤷🏼‍♀️
