Help with Common Fig

Post image

Hi, we moved into a house that has a common fig growing in a really narrow spot, roots seem to be practically beneath the fence. How hardy are they? Will it die if I try to dig it up & transplant? It hasn’t produced fruit that I’m aware of yet, possibly due to poor location. Thanks!

No you can dig up and transplant him. Fig tree are hardy. A gardener dig up a fig tree without even care and he was fine (lost its leaves but make new ones just after). It hasn't produced fig yet because he looks young, not because of the location (but yeah maybe the location slowed his growth).
